In 2013, President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Mikhail Nikolaev announced the launch of the republican project Music for Everybody. The organizers of this project –– the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture and Spirituality of the republic –– have set the goal to help all children learn one classical musical instrument by their graduation from general education school. For this purpose, the ministries signed an agreement on joint work in order to promulgate the project that was developed and organized by scientists, musicians, and teachers. Following almost three decades of political instability, economic uncertainty, and activist diplomacy, President Alberto Fujimori in the early 1990s returned a degree of economic and political stability to Peru. To restore the international standing of Peru, he also reoriented Peruvian foreign policy, modifying its direction, content, and tone. In the new millennium, successive Peruvian governments, from Alejandro Toledo to Ollanta Humala, have built on the initiatives introduced by Fujimori with a focus on traditional concerns, including sovereignty, territorial integrity, economic independence, regionalism, and continental solidarity. Notable for both continuity and coherence, Peruvian foreign policy after 2000 also evidenced a degree of pragmatism when an increasingly complex world called for new solutions to old problems.

The notable performance of seismically isolated bridges in South America during the last two major seismic events has been reflected in the increase in the use of base insulators in this type of infrastructure. In this work, a multi-span non-isolated bridge was retrofitted to achieve continuous functionality by adopting seismic isolation devices. In order to carry out a comparative evaluation, the bridge was analyzed using elastomeric and sliding type isolation devices. In this case study, the Lead Core Elastomeric Insulator (LRB) and the Triple Pendulum Frictional Insulator (TFPB) were chosen as representative models. Asimismo, se puede confirmar que el modelo de mejora de enfoque sistemático optimiza los procesos operativos. En este caso de estudio, se utilizaron las herramientas de Estudio de Métodos y Tiempos, la Teoría de Colas y Planificación de la Producción Agregada para reducir el problema principal. This work seeks to show the situation of an undergraduate career related to information technologies and the low population of women among its students; in contrast to the great job opportunities and social mobility offered by this career, both locally and internationally. Indeed, today’s companies require professionals of careers linked to information technologies, and, moreover, seek diversity among their collaborators. This paper also aims to create a conceptual framework related to a marketing strategy and a methodology for the elaboration of a strategic marketing plan in order to increase the number of women in these careers. Influenza is a highly contagious disease. There are some historical descriptions of this condition by ancient Greek physicians, and the etiological agents have been known only for the last eight decades. The causative agent is the influenza virus, which has three main types: A, B, and C. Type A is capable of circulating within many different biological reservoirs, including humans, swine, and birds. It also has high genetic variability, which allows it to have minor antigenic drifts or mutations which are responsible of epidemics in humans. This research was conducted in a farinaceous products company that was facing a problem of low productivity due to frequent downtime, leading to underutilization of their capacity. The lean manufacturing methodology was used to address this issue, specifically value stream mapping (VSM) and single-minute exchange of die (SMED) tools. These tools were applied in stages, including a diagnostic pretest (current map), followed by design, implementation, and a posttest (final map). The results were evaluated after the completion of the process, and it was found that the application of SMED led to a significant reduction in downtime. The product changeover time was decreased from 82 minutes to 42 minutes, reducing plant downtime or waste by 40 minutes and improving lean manufacturing indicators.
