Obstetric hemorrhage is the most common cause of maternal mortality in the world. Our knowledge of hemorrhagic shock pathophysiology and management has significantly improved during the last decades. Blood transfusion has emerged as a strategy with great impact on patients’ survival. Consequently, it is crucial to have a protocol of massive blood transfusion available for cases of massive obstetric hemorrhage.

Cape “gooseberry” Physalis peruviana L. is a Solanaceae of great economic importance due to the high nutritional value of its fruits. It is known that the use of a good NPK fertilization scheme allows to achieve increases in the content of nutrients such as proteins. The objective of this work was to determine the effect of different doses 160-50-160; 225-70-275; 300-100-450 of NPK respectively on the content of total soluble proteins in cape goosberry leaves. Total soluble protein content was determined with the Bradford method. Cape goosberry plants treated with NPK 300-100-450 showed higher PST content (31.04 ug/g sample), with significant differences (p<0.05) compared to the control. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the administration of ibuprofen in the establishment of the gestation of bovine embryos produced in vitro. In total, 85 Bos taurus x B. indicus heifers were used as embryo recipients, which were subjected to a protocol of synchronization of oestrus and ovulation with the insertion of an intravaginal progesterone implant (Sincrogest®) for eight days, plus the application of 2 mg of oestradiol benzoate (Sincrodiol®). To the removal of the implant, 500 μg sodium cloprostenol (Sincrocio®), 300 IU of equine chorionic gonadotropin (Sincro eCG®), plus the administration of 1 mg of oestradiol cypionate (SincroCP®,) were applied. Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) sigue siendo uno de los patógenos más mortales a nivel mundial, a pesar de ser una enfermedad prevenible. La tuberculosis (TB) se trata con una combinación de cuatro medicamentos antituberculosos de primera línea: rifampicina (RIF), isoniacida, pirazinamida y etambutol, para cepas sensibles a los medicamentos. Entre estos, la RIF es uno de los agentes más potentes para controlar la enfermedad. Sin embargo, la resistencia a la RIF conlleva la aparición de casos de TB resistente a la RIF (RR-TB) o multidrogo resistente (MDR-TB). El mecanismo principal de resistencia implica mutaciones en el gen rpoB, que es responsable de aproximadamente el 95% de los casos. Breakthroughs in vitrification protocols and the results obtained after frozen embryo transfer have resulted in a different version of the assisted reproduction standard cycles: the “freeze-all” cycles. Regardless of their use beyond the usual indications (elevated progesterone, risk of hyperstimulation, among others), this new concept currently represents a common practice in many institutions and is applied to all patients. In this article, we will discuss the various factors that may have contributed to this change in policy and the scientific evidence for this topic. Based on this evidence, we will conclude if clinics should change their way of working from fresh embryo transfers to only transfer frozen embryos, or if we should maintain the standard protocol.

El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo diseñar y construir un biorreactor batch tipo tanque agitado y aireado con capacidad de un litro para la producción de proteína unicelular. Para su diseño y construcción se empleó un software que genera las especificaciones ideales para este tipo de trabajo, materiales y accesorios fácilmente manipulables y esterilizables a base de vidrio, tapones de caucho para uso químico y mangueras de plástico, el sistema de agitación se construyó con materiales de acero inoxidable más la adición de un motor de paso de 12 V. We present the record of the consumption and transfer of leaves of two species, Cynophalla flexuosa and Colicodendron scabridum (Capparaceae) by the bats Artibeus planirostris and Artibeus fraterculus, respectively. The finding was made in two localities of the province of Bagua and Utcubamba, department of Amazonas, between the months of January and March 2012, during an evaluation for bats for an Environmental Impact Estudy for 2D Sismic Prospecting and drilling of 02 wells in block 145, zone 1, ERM company.
