Liturgies of Empathy: Formation of Secular Spiritualities in the Fight against Gender-based Violence

This article analyzes training workshops against gender-based violence in Brazil and Mexico as spaces that produce an inner-worldly secular spirituality, examining their rituals, processes of moral conversion, and the elaboration of a specific emotional interiority. The research is based on an ethnography that accompanied facilitators, activists, and professionals from the psychosocial and legal fields, using participant observation and discourse analysis. The findings reveal that these workshops function as secular rituals in which empathy is sacralized as a redeeming emotion, testimony enables the transformation from “victims” into “survivors,” and a moral dualism is established between “human agency” (good) and “oppressive structures” (evil). El presente proyecto de investigación analiza las distinciones en el discurso y la estructura del tratamiento informativo del caso de violencia sexual contra la niña Camila, divulgados por las plataformas digitales de El Comercio y La República, frente a Trome y El Popular. Bajo un enfoque cualitativo, se evaluaron 24 notas informativas digitales a través del análisis crítico de la cobertura mediática, considerando categorías como el sensacionalismo, la revictimización, el tratamiento narrativo y el enfoque estructural o coyuntural. Los hallazgos demuestran que El Comercio y La República sostienen un tratamiento más objetivo, contextualizado y ético, situando el caso en el fenómeno estructural de la violencia de género. The purpose of this text is to analyze hegemonic and hybrid masculinities, as well as their relationship, which has focused on young, white, and heterosexual men, and has thus reproduced structures of gender, race and sexual inequalities among other conditions that interweave and sustain the inequalities that are positioned in social structures, marginalizing those subordinate masculinities. This, without leaving aside studies that problematize the relational and power condition implied by the binary division of gender. In this sense, recent studies are analyzed to approach from the postcolonial theory the bases that still establish a unique subject that invisibilizes the representations of otherness. Objective: To determine the variations in the frequencies of non-morbid obesity (NMO) and morbid obesity (MO) according with different national surveys, and in function of socio-demographic variables. En esta investigación se analizaron la construcción y la traducción de las masculinidades gay en la serie Looking, en sus doblajes para América Latina y España. La investigación se basó en datos empíricos producidos a partir de un corpus multimodal bilingüe. El análisis se basó en los Estudios Descriptivos de la Traducción. Así, se identificaron las funciones del habla camp y discursos que proponen que la identidad gay se significa a partir de la expresión del deseo y que dicho deseo construye de manera diferenciada el cuerpo blanco y masculino frente al cuerpo racializado. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar el trabajo del hogar remunerado bajo sus dos modalidades: cama adentro y cama afuera, así como estimar las funciones de oferta de trabajo respectivas. Luego de un análisis descriptivo, donde constatamos que el porcentaje de trabajadoras cama adentro ha disminuido en favor de las trabajadoras cama afuera, y que las trabajadoras migrantes se han reducido, estimamos las funciones de oferta sobre la base de un modelo de preferencias individuales y familiares. Para ello empleamos las bases de la ENAHO 2007, 2010, 2013 y 2014, las cuales solamente nos dan los datos familiares de las trabajadoras cama afuera. In Mexico, a high percentage of young people experience symptoms of generalized anxiety, which are associated with difficulties in executive functions (EF). However, previous studies have shown inconsistent results, as they often rely solely on either objective or subjective measures. Therefore, this study focused on analyzing the relationship between generalized anxiety and EF using both a neuropsychological battery and a self-report questionnaire, in order to provide a more comprehensive understanding of cognitive functioning in adolescents. Objective: To determine the association between depression and functional dependence in elderly patients of the Centro Geriátrico Naval (Peruvian naval medical center for elderly people). Materials and methods: A retrospective, cross-sectional, analytic study conducted from a secondary data analysis, with a convenience sample size of 625 elderly people. Results: In the linear regression analysis which predicts functional dependence according to the Barthel Index, it was found that, for each point in the Yesavage questionnaire, the Barthel Index score decreases 4.8±1.82 points and, for every 5 points, it decreases 29.99±3.62 points. Objective:The objective of the present study was to determine the frequency and distribution of diagnoses of functional occlusal disorders among patients treated in undergraduate and postgraduate oral rehabilitation at the Teaching Dental Clinic of the Peruvian Cayetano Heredia University between 2016 and 2017. Material andmethods:The research was descriptive, retrospective, observational, and cross-sectional. The variables considered were the diagnoses of functional occlusal disorders, classifying them by gender, age, educational level, and location. According to NOAA, the results of an economic valuation are applicable as public policy if they fulfill two conditions: rationality and plausibility. In this study, we carried out the valuation of biodiversity conservation in Manu National Park in Peru (a megabiodiverse country), based on three representations: species, habitat and functionality. We identify sensitivity to scope in most of the attributes used. When we add socioeconomic characteristics, we identify that gender and salary levels affect preferences. The Covid-19 pandemic is generating a great psychological impact on university students and the general population, with the family being an important social support element. The objective of this study was to characterize the psychological impact of social isolation in students of a Public University in Lima. The study employed anon-probabilistic sample of 3,960 students, between 16 and 40 years old, where 40.2%were men and 59.8% women. The Scales of Positive and Negative Emotions (PANAS) and Family Functionality-APGAR were applied. En el contexto de crítica al sistema de género, la presente investigación tiene como objetivo analizar el contenido de los comentarios expresados en noticias sobre la comunidad LGTB publicadas en las páginas de Facebook de los principales diarios nacionales durante el 2017.
