In this study, chuño starch films were elaborated using acid hydrolysis, which was incorporated with different concentrations of eucalyptus essential oil (EEO). The reinforcement of the films was made by adding microfibers of Stipa obtusa (MFSO), a native Peruvian natural fiber rich in cellulose. The films were produced through the tape casting technique. The barrier properties presented swelling and solubility values of 1.478 and 0.439 g/g, respectively, at an optimal ratio of 7 % starch on a dry basis. An improvement in the modulus of elasticity of the films obtained was observed by incorporating concentrations of MFSO, starting at 0.55 %, in the polymeric matrix during the synthesis process. To adjust the parameters that influence the appearance of defects in the steel in the continuous casting mold, a particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO) was developed using process models. The study considered multiple objectives with multiple restrictions and the results were compared with those reported by a teaching-learning-based optimization algorithm (TLBO). We conclude that the PSO has a good capacity to determine the parameters of the mold, and with it, it is possible to achieve an optimal solution without requiring great computational efforts.

In the present work, a mathematical model is developed which involves the equations of fluid mechanics and the energy equation to determine the temperature field of the liquid steel that enters a container to solidify, a situation commonly found in production processes of steel today. Using mathematical techniques, a simplified equation of the energy equation is obtained in which a non-dimensional parameter Pe, the Peclet number, allows to evaluate the transport of the heat by convection to the transmission by diffusion occurred in the mold that contains liquid steel. This study investigates the antimicrobial and water vapor barrier properties of biodegradable films made from potato (Solanum tuberosum) waste starch and the natural additives glycerol, propolis, and montmorillonite ("chaco"). Films were produced using the casting method, and their physical, antimicrobial, and barrier properties were analyzed. Film compositions were established using an experimental design of mixtures. The water vapor permeability values ranged from 0.44 × 10−10 to 8.55 × 10−10 g/(m·s·Pa). The permeation energy was lower than that of polyvinyl chloride and polypropylene films but higher than that of cellophane films. 2020RESUMENEste artículo aborda la experiencia de diseño y aplicación del podcast Relatos de Gestión en los cursos Gestión Pública y Social de la Facultad de Gestión y Alta Dirección de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). Para ello, se presentan las fases que implicó el diseño de cada uno de los episodios, la elección del formato y las plataformas que empleó el podcast, así como el proceso de diseño de las clases y los elementos de evaluación en los que se utilizó el podcast. También se muestran las actividades que se desarrollaron para la sistematización de la experiencia y, finalmente, las reflexiones sobre los beneficios de la experiencia en los aprendizajes de los estudiantes.

The presented work demonstrates the process of designing a cheap, low cost three axis force sensor. Further it describes its integration in an array of multiple sensors to measure the distribution of forces acting on the sole of a prosthetic foot. The focus will be on easy manufacturing and common materials since the sensor will be integrated in a low cost prosthesis for lower limp amputees. Using the knowledge from bio mechanics and some basic assumptions for the later use, requirements for the project are derived.
