Data envelopment analysis is a non-parametric practical method to compute efficiency on decision making units. The present work applies DEA on then branch network of one of the most important peruvian banks with a Lingo optimization model and a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. The problem is solved under two approaches (financial/management and selling) in order to compute both global and technical efficiency of each individual branch. Additionally, a ranking system (based on average efficiency, time-windows analysis and benchmark-solution recurrence) is proposed as a management tool for the direction teams.

The MST has a venerable history in combinatorial optimization. It was initially developed in 1926 by Boruvka who says he had to learn for the electrification of southern Moraria where he provided a solution to find the most economical distribution through a network of a power line.

Nowadays, one of the most critical problems in Peru is crime and citizen insecurity. Part of this problem is due to a precarious assignment of security agents in geographic strategical zones at the right time. Furthermore, there is a lack of knowledge by the part of community members about certain existing patterns in crime. A large amount of data with geographic information, type of crime, time and other more meaningful variables is available to use. For this reason, the present research project is about a methodology using optimization models, machine learning and forecasting techniques to reduce these crime rates through the development of clusters that will allow us to identify the areas with the greatest confluence of crimes. A predictive spatial time model fed with data in real time will map the areas of high risk at a certain future point in the time. This model will be linked to ...

Hiring processes are intended to recruit and retain ideal candidates; those who would generate competitive value in an organization. In an increasingly global context, the challenge is often costly, inefficient, and complex. Even though artificial intelligence already solves specific tasks with greater speed, precision, and efficiency in various fields, and in different companies, in the area of human resources the desirability of the use of data science continues to be debated. By reviewing cases and research, in which the integration of artificial intelligence applications in the selection processes was tested, measuring and socializing impacts, I contribute to the current discussion aimed at overcoming the mistrust that exists by default, and that is associated with the ethical challenges and risks t assumed to solve a human problem through technology. I conclude that it is possible t...

The present article develops a number of classical economic-financial applications in continuous time based on the software Stella (Isee Systems, Inc.). The problems under analysis basically deal with modeling projected free cash flows and investments, and their Net Present Value estimation, a process which in many cases may require numerical integration. The document shows how Stella allows construction of a model in a simple fashion, and with it to make simulations that give graphical solutions, as is the case of the decision of the optimal harvest time, or the selection between alternative projects, among others.

The present work studies the productivity of the weld in naval construction, starting off of an analysis of the production in our means happening to present some techniques or alternatives to increase the productivity of the weld in naval construction. We will begin describing some basic knowledge of weld, productivity and like determining the productivity of weld in the naval construction, in addition to because of the analysis of the productivity of the weld in our means. Also some factors are exposed that are going to influence in the production of the weld, as they are the yield by fusion, the selection of the materials, the type of steel, the type of procedure, etc. On the other hand, the statistical data taken in the zone from work appear that will serve to measure the productivity of the weld based on the kilograms of deposited metal and the yield by fusion of several types...

Humans are at the heart of crucial processes in warehouses. Besides the common economic goal of minimising cycle times, we therefore add in this paper the human well-being goal of minimising workers’ discomfort in the context of order picking. We propose a methodology for identifying the most suitable storage location solutions with respect to both goals. The first step in our methodology is to build data-driven empirical models for estimating cycle times and workers’ discomfort. The second step of the methodology entails the use of these empirically grounded models to formulate a bi-objective assignment problem for assigning products to storage locations. The developed methodology is subsequently tested on two actual warehouses. The results of these practical tests show that clear trade-offs exist and that optimising only for discomfort can be costly in terms of cycle time. Based on...

This article shows the most important problem of systems costs, which is the allocation of indirect costs to products. Note that there is an optimal system costs, but there is an alternative accounting system that gives administrators a detailed description of the costs of activities associated elements to the development of a product or a service otrogameinto; this system is more cost new technique called activity-based costing.

In the present work, the design of a system to classify data is carried out, using the Scrum methodology. The validation was carried out by expert judgment, having favorable results in terms of different criteria such as; integrity, ease of use, innovation, and scalability. Regarding the development of the functional elements of the system, it was obtained; he developed the architecture of the system, the database, and the prototypes, among other points considered. From the implementation of the system, the equation of a classifying plane in three-dimensional space will be obtained, as well as the number of internal iterations that the algorithm develops, the estimated execution time, and the graph of the plane. This system is based on a recently introduced symmetric cone proximal multiplier algorithm to solve separable optimization problems, this algorithm made an application for classi...

Conventional efficiency evaluation systems present little diversity in the type of variables considered. This aspect generally leads to errors in the application of the models and in the corresponding interpretation of results. This study proposes a dynamic model to measure the efficiency of decision-making units, based on non-parametric Multidirectional Efficiency Analysis (MEA). The model presented here considers a complete structure, which includes intertemporal variables (desirable/undesirable intermediate inputs and outputs), discretionary/non-discretionary inputs; desirable/undesirable inputs and outputs. Dynamic score is defined first in a particular version and then in a more general version, considering two optimization problems. The directional contribution of each variable is examined, showing excess inputs and deficit outputs. In addition, a dynamic inefficiency index to meas...

This research shows the portfolios optimization using micro genetic algorithms, to resolve the Markowitz's selecting investments model like a multi-objetive optimization, where is maximized profitalility and minization, where is maximized profitability and minimizing the risk, thus create a negotiation between the risk, thus create a negotiation between the two objectives, then find optimal solution. To solve this problem need a genetic algorithm for multi-objetive optimization, based Pareto's optimal. The results show that this application is more efficient than other similar processes(Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algoritm II(NSGA II) and Pareto Archive Evolution Strategy (PAES)), but considering the period and the local market characteristics, its predictive power low.
