Research is one of the cornerstones of the university. In that sense, INDUSTRIAL DATA since its inception five years ago is fit to publish scholarly articles in three areas: Systems Engineering and Informatics, Management and Production, Design and Technology

It is currently being confronted with a new paradigm, where knowledge is becoming the main asset of an organization. The so-called knowledge society requires a better oriented and full utilization of intellectual capital, understood as the sum resulting from the knowledge of its members in an organization effort.

The article reviews the state of the art and theoretical concepts needed to develop a proposed solution to the Facility Layout Problem FLP. Article concepts such as meta heuristics, evolutionary computation, evolutionary programming, genetic algorithms, aimed to propose an alternative solution to the difficult problem of plant distribution are examined.

El artículo es una revisión del estado del arte y de los conceptos teóricos necesarios para elaborar una propuesta de solución al Facility Layout Problem FLP. En el artículo se examinan conceptos tales como meta heurísticas, computación evolutiva, programación evolutiva, algoritmos genéticos, tendientes a plantear una alternativa de solución al difícil problema de la distribución en planta.

El objetivo de la investigación es desarrollar un algoritmo genético para optimizar la distribución en planta en organizaciones de manufactura. Al ser este, un problema combinatorio de optimización, el algoritmo resulta de gran utilidad en la toma de decisiones. Esta investigación es de tipo experimental por simulación. Se propone un algoritmo en dos pasos que emplea la estructura del árbol de cortes y la metodología por algoritmos genéticos. Para probar el algoritmo se desarrolla una aplicación informática que combina programación genética, programación concurrente y se ejecuta en la nube bajo el sistema operativo Linux. El algoritmo obtiene una solución a cuatro casos experimentales conocidos en la temática: Tam de ocho, Van Camp de diez, Bazaraa de catorce, Armour y Buffa de veinte instalaciones respectivamente; considerando dimensiones como: área total, área individ...

This article proposes criteria for environmental impact assessment in the mining sector may serve to support decision making.

The ISO 9001: 2008 is the international standard of quality, this certification has been obtained by the graduate unit, this process is presented by Jorge Luis Inche Mitma and Alfonso Ramon Chung Pinzas. The quality of healthcare services in a private institution is presented by Mary Leyzeaga Vargas and Agustin Mejias Acosta, both from the University of Carabobo, Venezuela

El Instituto de Investigación de la Facultad de Ingeniería Industrial tiene como medio de difusión tanto de sus aportes como el de otras universidades a nivel nacional e internacional a la revista Industrial Data, que en esta oportunidad presenta 16 artículos de investigación divididos en tres secciones: Producción y Gestión, Diseño y Tecnología, y Sistemas e Informática; la calidad e importancia de los artículos publicados en esta revista ofrecen al lector la oportunidad de conocer e indagar sobre todo lo que se viene ofreciendo al servicio de las empresas, instituciones educativas y de la sociedad en su conjunto, para apoyar a solucionar los múltiples problemas que los aquejan o despertar el interés para desarrollar otras investigaciones.

El Comité Editorial de la revista Industrial Data, saluda a todos sus lectores, y en esta oportunidad presenta documentos escritos por investigadores nacionales e internacionales, algunos autores son docentes universitarios, estudiantes de doctorado y de maestría, quienes han escrito con rigurosidad y estricto cumplimiento que la normatividad exige para posicionar a esta revista a nivel nacional e internacional.
