This study analyzes the electoral debate of 2016, specifically the confrontation between the candidates Fernando Olivera and Alan García. It was decided to work with this corpus, since a contrast is evident in the pragmalinguistic strategies used by both candidates; therefore, the main objective is to demonstrate each of these strategies. In the first part of the study, the content of the political discourse of both candidates is analyzed, for this the functional theory proposed by William Benoit (2007) is used. Based on this analysis, the second part describes the pragmalinguistic resources present in the speeches of each one of them. It is concluded that both candidates present differences in the content of their message: while Fernando Olivera’s speech has a denigrating propensity, Alan García has a propensity for silence. In this paper we analyze the information structure of predicate doubling in Rioplatense Spanish (e.g., Leer, leyó ‘as for reading, she/he read’). We propose that in this construction the dislocated predicate functions as a contrastive topic in the sense of Büring (2003), that is, it evokes a set of alternative questions with which it contrasts. We argue that this characterization explains the “continuation effect” that predicate doubling exhibits, i.e., the fact that a predicate doubling sentence suggests a potential continuation that involves another predicate. Moreover, we show that this analysis correctly predicts the distribution of predicate doubling in embedding contexts.

In Mexico, a high percentage of young people experience symptoms of generalized anxiety, which are associated with difficulties in executive functions (EF). However, previous studies have shown inconsistent results, as they often rely solely on either objective or subjective measures. Therefore, this study focused on analyzing the relationship between generalized anxiety and EF using both a neuropsychological battery and a self-report questionnaire, in order to provide a more comprehensive understanding of cognitive functioning in adolescents. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, correlational, and explanatory design was employed. Background: In mitral valve dysfunction, noninvasive measurement of transmitral blood flow is an important clinical examination. Flow imaging of the mitral valve, however, is challenging, since it moves in and out of the image plane during the cardiac cycle. Purpose: To more accurately measure mitral flow, a slice-following MRI phase contrast sequence is proposed. This study aimed to implement such a sequence, validate its slice-following functionality in a phantom and healthy subjects, and test its feasibility in patients with mitral valve dysfunction. The research work was carried out in the sub-basin of the Yanayacu River (Ancash - Peru), its objectives were: to characterize the sub-basin of the Yanayacu River and the contrast of the existing empirical equations in the scientific literature related to the water network. The 20i Recuay digital charts and the Arcgis 10.8 software were used as materials. Horton's laws of channel number, mean channel length for a given order, and Melton's law were confirmed for the Yanayacu River sub-basin. Also, an exponential equation was obtained for the prediction of the total number of channels as a function of the channel order and a potential equation for the prediction of the total length of channels as a function of the total number of channels of a given order. This paper analyzes the concept of active listening from two epistemological perspectives: as a disposition and as a technique, showing that although they are different, they are interrelated and can be either complementary or irreconcilable, depending on the theoretical approach adopted. Active listening as a disposition is related to the internal attitudes of the therapist or facilitator, such as authenticity, empathy, and unconditional acceptance—characteristic of humanistic psychotherapy. This approach values the human encounter and the relationship as ends in themselves. In contrast, active listening as a technique refers to observable behaviors (such as paraphrasing or emotional validation), typical of models focused on problem-solving and behavioral change. Polylepis (Rosaceae) is the dominant tree genus in High-Andean forest ecosystems. These ecosystems are severely threatened, but little is known about their structure and functioning. We provide the first reports of the dasometric structure and spatial distribution of eight forests of Polylepis canoi, P. flavipila and P. rodolfovasquezii in the Central Peruvian Andes as fundamental information for management and conservation policies. We sampled all individuals ?1 cm of diameter at ground level (DGL) in 20 plots of 10x10 m in each forest, and measured total height (TH) and DGL. Also, we mapped the spatial distribution of the individuals in two plots of 30x30 m (X and Y axes). El presente proyecto de investigación analiza las distinciones en el discurso y la estructura del tratamiento informativo del caso de violencia sexual contra la niña Camila, divulgados por las plataformas digitales de El Comercio y La República, frente a Trome y El Popular. Bajo un enfoque cualitativo, se evaluaron 24 notas informativas digitales a través del análisis crítico de la cobertura mediática, considerando categorías como el sensacionalismo, la revictimización, el tratamiento narrativo y el enfoque estructural o coyuntural. Los hallazgos demuestran que El Comercio y La República sostienen un tratamiento más objetivo, contextualizado y ético, situando el caso en el fenómeno estructural de la violencia de género. This research deals about the thinking styles proposed by Sternberg, on Freshman students of the Universidad National Mayor de San Marcos (U. N.M. S. M). The participants were a random sample of 501 students, belonging to 19 schools of 5 academic areas of U.N.M.S.M. The results confirm the validity, the construct validity and the reliability of Stenberg 's short form Thinking Styles Questionnaire. This paper analyses the reframing strategies (Baker, 2006) and transfer of communicational functions (Nord, 2010) in some news translated by state-owned Peruvian News Agency Andina (Agencia Peruana de Noticias Andina) from Spanish to English. This media platform uses translation to expand its readership to foreigners that might be interested in visiting and investing in Peru (Andina, 2016, par. 14), thus helping the nation's economy to grow. The study is based on a bilingual corpus of 114 news articles published in the economics and tourism sections during 2019. The contrastive text analysis showed how Andina reframes the translations to adapt them into a new sociocultural context, reflecting the discourse of the Peru brand. This study evaluates the influence of structural slenderness on the seismic response of buildings equipped with ADAS, TADAS and SLB hysteretic dissipaters. Structures with three levels of slenderness (1, 2 and 3) were modeled and analyzed by means of static and dynamic nonlinear analysis simulations. To quantify structural vulnerability, fragility curves were generated considering Immediate Occupancy, Life Safety and Collapse Prevention performance states as a function of peak ground acceleration (PGA). The results show that the incorporation of dissipaters significantly reduces the inelastic demand and delays the appearance of critical performance states, even in buildings with greater slenderness.
