We propose the formalism of the Dirac-Delta functions with polynomial argument to measure the probability of call completion (PCC) which plays an importance role in the development and assessment of the telecommunications. The measurement of the PCC is also translated as a rough estimate of the Quality-of-Service of providers of cellular communication. In order to test the model, the Dirac-Delta operator acts onto families of step-functions that would play the role of input functions. Thus, the I/O scheme is applied resulting in a nonlinear system of up to 12 parameters. In this manner, By assuming the case where the end users are performing handover under velocities less than 100 km/h, our simulations have determined a discrepancy between a known model and our approach which is of order of 7% due to the minor computational errors.

Inertial kinetics and kinematics have substantial influences on human biomechanical function. A new algorithm for Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU)-based motion tracking is presented in this work. The primary aims of this paper are to combine recent developments in improved biosensor technology with mainstream motion-tracking hardware to measure the overall performance of human movement based on joint axis-angle representations of limb rotation. This work describes an alternative approach to representing three-dimensional rotations using a normalized vector around which an identified joint angle defines the overall rotation, rather than a traditional Euler angle approach. Furthermore, IMUs allow for the direct measurement of joint angular velocities, offering the opportunity to increase the accuracy of instantaneous axis of rotation estimations. Although the axis-angle representation requi...

The current study relates to designing a swarming computational paradigm to solve the influenza disease system (IDS). The nonlinear system’s mathematical form depends upon four classes: susceptible ndividuals, infected people, recovered individuals and cross-immune people. The solutions of the IDS are provided by using the artificial neural networks (ANNs) together with the swarming computational paradigm-based particle swarm optimization (PSO) and interior-point scheme (IPA) that are the global and local search approaches. The ANNs-PSO-IPA has never been applied to solve the IDS. Instead a merit function in the sense of mean square error is constructed using the differential form of each class of the IDS and then optimized by the PSOIPA. The correctness and accuracy of the scheme are observed to perform the comparative analysis of the obtained IDS results with the Adams solutions (ref...

Nowadays, the impacts of climate change are harming many countries around the world. For this reason, the scientific community is interested in improving methods to forecast weather events, so it is possible to avoid people from being injured. One important thing in the development of time series forecasting methods is to consider the set of values over time that facilitates the prediction of future value. In this sense, we propose a new feature vector based on the correlation and autocorrelation functions. These measures reflect how the observations of a time series are related to each other. Then, univariate forecasting is performed using Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) deep neural network. Finally, we compared the new model with linear and non-linear models. Reported results exhibit that MLP and LSTM models using the proposed feature vector, they show pro...

We presented a generalization of the delay-and-sum beamforming based on the Dirac-Delta functions but with nonlinear argument. For this end, a closed-form expression of the beampattern mathcal{B}(r)=\sum\nolimits-{k,q}w(k,q,r)x(k,q,r) with r = r(θ), was derived. This expression is computationally simulated through an algorithm that includes integer-order Bessel input functions and random noise. The 4M+N model parameters provided by the Dirac-Delta method are extracted by using a Monte-Carlo-like step which selects the best values for B(r) minimizing the Monte-Carlo error for Δθ = 0.5% for the case of beam response of θ0=30 degrees. These results might sustain the fact that beamforming techniques can use Dirac-Delta functions for modeling arrival signal even in those cases where strong nonlinearity is involved.

In this paper, we have performed a closed-form calculation of the radiation pattern of a base station antenna by using Ad Hoc Bessel-Fourier expansion. Once the coordinates system is fixed, we proceed to derived the magnetic potential vector underlining the complex part which is subsequently expanded in a Bessel-Fourier series. Since the radiation intensity is proportional to the square of the polar component of electric field, we used the well-known relation vec{E} \approx \vec{\nabla}\times \vec{\nabla} \times \vec{A} It gives capabilities to apply antenna data to the resulting closed-form expression for obtaining numerical estimations of the possible exposure levels. For this end, we measured the specific absorption radiation (SAR) to evaluate and discard possible effects of contamination by antenna radiation in the vicinity of the emission source. For a source of 2.0 GHz and 1.5 Vm-1...

We report the application of the Model-based Predictive Control (MPC) to improve the performance of the start-up of a 150-175 MW combined cycle power plant whose gas turbine is fueled by natural gas. In concrete the simulations have shown that the efficient drum level control is reflected on the improvement of power efficiency in the sense of reaching the 225 MW set point in around 45 minutes faster than the case of PID. Experimental data taken from ordinary runs from power plant was used for ends of system identification which is based on convolution integrals resulting well adjustable to the acquired data. Simulations have demonstrated that the performance of the MPC surpasses to the one of classic PID essentially in two aspects: (i) reducing the time for reaching set point and (ii) avoiding unexpected critical situations during the plant start-up. Results have indicated that the MPC m...

The present study proposes a method of automatic detection of tuberculosis (TB) bacilli from digital images of Ziehl Neelsen sputum smear baciloscopy. The method is based on an algorithm that aims to automate the interpretation of optical microscopic images of sputum smears. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a specialist can not analyze and process more than 20 samples per day (in order to not affect the analysis sensitivity and commit errors in diagnosis). Therefore, an automated tool as the proposed here, is an important contribution to the current efforts to fight tuberculosis. The algorithm is based on geometric eccentricity of ellipses and improvement of RGB component tones. Correspondence functions adjusted to sample preparation conditions were applied in order to improve the RGB primary component tones of the image. This allows to obtain an adequate segmentation of...

We present a model of Probability of Success Call Completion (PSCC) from a typical I/O procedure and computationally tested through Monte Carlo simulation with Gaussian profiles. Under the I/O view the input and transfer functions are prepared without to abandon the randomness nature of the phenomenology. Because kernels are required by the I/O formulation, we have assumed that the Dirac-Delta functions play the role of kernels in according to the I/O representation. The results would indicate that under certain circumstances the formulation I/O is valid by a 10% of error respect to the Meo-Ajmone model. However, the weakness of the I/O approach would be in the extraction of a large number of free parameters, which do not necessarily encompasses the dynamic of phenomenon.

Primal or dual strong-duality (or min-sup, inf-max duality) in nonconvex optimization is revisited in view of recent literature on the subject, establishing, in particular, new characterizations for the second case. This gives rise to a new class of quasiconvex problems having zero duality gap or closedness of images of vector mappings associated to those problems. Such conditions are described for the classes of linear fractional functions and that of quadratic ones. In addition, some applications to nonconvex quadratic optimization problems under a single inequality or equality constraint, are presented, providing new results for the fulfillment of zero duality gap or dual strong-duality.

With the increasing popularity of online social networking platforms, the amount of social data has grown exponentially. Social data analysis is essential as spamming activities and spammers are escalating over online social networking platforms. This paper focuses on spammer detection on the Twitter social networking platform. Although existing researchers have developed numerous machine learning methods to detect spammers, these methods are inefficient for appropriately detecting spammers on Twitter due to the imbalance of spam and nonspam data distribution, the involvement of diverse features and the applicability of data mechanisms by spammers to avoid their detection. This research work proposes a novel hybrid approach of the gravitational search algorithm and the decision tree (HGSDT) for detecting Twitter spammers. The individual decision tree (DT) algorithm is not able to address...

Concern for the quality of software-based systems has grown as software is integrated into every aspect of our lives. With the increase in the number of users and the data stored, more robust and secure databases are necessary. Quality control testing has progressed systematically from manual to automated applications. The Information Technology for Defense Company has the Center for Quality Standards and Security in charge of certifying and technically evaluating computer products, guaranteeing their quality. Currently the database review process in the SQLite manager is manual, making this process difficult, where there may be a margin of error due to the amount of checks that must be reviewed. The present work aims to develop a data architecture review component for the SQLite management server. For this, a study of a homologous database management system is carried out, the tools for...

Nanopositioning and nanomeasuring machines are playing an increasingly important role in the evolution of modern technologies in various fields. The Institute of Process Measure ment and Sensor Technology at Ilmenau University of Technology has been researching for more tan one decade high precisión machines. In this direction, the general objective of this master tesis is the development of aderivative-free model reference adaptive control (DFMRAC) algorithm for the vertical axisofa nanopositioning and nanomeasuring machine. Firstly, a nonlinear unknown friction term is included in the adaptation process of a standard model reference adaptive control (MRAC) and the DFMRAC. Then, the MRAC and DFMRAC algorithms are developed theoretically, in which the DFMRAC stability análisis requiresa Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional to prove that the error signal and the weightpa- rameters are uniform...

This paper presents a comparative analysis of the electrode impedance for a vertical rod buried in a homogeneous ground where the soil electrical parameters (resistivity and permittivity) are frequency-dependent in relation to the impedances obtained with frequency-constant parameters. In this study, it is taken into account that vertical rod can be seen as a short transmission line whose electrical parameters (resistance, inductance, capacitance and conductance) are distributed along its length. Thus, the rod impedance is computed as being the harmonic impedance of the transmission line as a function of frequency. Once the rod impedances are obtained, and using the Vector Fitting technique, equivalent electrical circuits are obtained directly in time domain. The advantage of this type of representation is that equivalent circuit can be easily incorporated into EMTP-type programs for the...
