In recent decades, the advances in the management of functional mitral regurgitation (MR), makes knowledge of this disease extremely important to the clinical cardiologist, as it has an increasing prevalence in patients older than 50 years. The objective of this article is to review the pathophysiological bases of MR, in order to differentiate its mechanism, and to correlate them with the clinical, hemodynamic, and imaging findings that assess the severity of the disease. These data are relevant for the adequate selection of the patient and the opportune moment of the therapeutic interventions, which involves a multidisciplinary team in decision-making to achieve the greatest benefit within the treatment options of this pathology.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) sigue siendo uno de los patógenos más mortales a nivel mundial, a pesar de ser una enfermedad prevenible. La tuberculosis (TB) se trata con una combinación de cuatro medicamentos antituberculosos de primera línea: rifampicina (RIF), isoniacida, pirazinamida y etambutol, para cepas sensibles a los medicamentos. Entre estos, la RIF es uno de los agentes más potentes para controlar la enfermedad. This case report highlights the dental rehabilitation of a patient with controlled diabetes mellitus, emphasizing the importance of oral health in overall well-being. The treatment involved periodontal therapy, fixed and removable prostheses, and precision attachments to restore aesthetics and masticatory function. Significant improvements in oral health, function, and quality of life were achieved, along with stabilization of periodontal health after five months of follow-up. The case underscores the role of proper masticatory function in preventing malnutrition, especially in diabetic patients, where poorly controlled oral health can exacerbate systemic conditions. An interdisciplinary approach is critical in addressing both functional and aesthetic needs, improving both oral and systemic health outcomes for diabetic patients.

Introduction. Hip fractures are a group of frequent pathologies in frail older adults, with a negative impact on functionality. Objective. To determine the clinical, functional, mental, and social characteristics based on the comprehensive geriatric assessment. Methods. 445 patients were evaluated, comorbidity was measured with the Charlson index, baseline functional state with the Barthel index and the Lawton and Brody scale, mental state with the Pfeiffer questionnaire, delirium using the Confusion Assessment Method and social assessment with the Gijón Socio-Family Scale. Objective: The operationalization and the role of a participatory model of diagnostic and therapeutic formulations called Foster Groups, implemented in a Community Mental Health Center in Lima, Peru, are analyzed. Material and Methods: The research was based on the participanting observation by experts in community mental health, public health, communication and social sciences, of a total of 24 Foster Group sessions held at the Nancy Reyes Community Mental Health Center in Chorrillos, Lima Peru, during the years 2018-2019. This paper pretends to analyze the functioning and the limitations of some legal tools that the Peruvian state has posed as a part of his normative answer to the grave phenomenon of illegal gold mining, organized form of criminality whose utilities have surpassed the ones of drug trafficking. With this purpose, two axes of analysis has been proposed with incidence upon the illegal commercialization of gold: (i) the criminal tools, which specifically involve the crimes of illegal mining, clandestine commerce and money laundering; and (ii) the administrative tools, which involve the Legislative Decrees N° 1103 and 1107, the Supreme Decrees N° 012-2012-EM and N° 17-2009-MTC, among others. The authors have noticed several legislative policy errors in these elements and therefore implement recommendations to increase the global effectiveness of the regulation.

Case report: Patient who suffered a multiple trauma and traumatic brain injury (TBI), with fractures and neurological deficit secondary to TBI, who presented several heterotopic ossifications (OH) during his evolution that compromised the achievement of functional objectives. The relevant literature is scarce and this has led us to undertake a comprehensive study in patients admitted to the Gastroenterology Service of the Hospital Obrero de Lima . Studies on intestinal biopsy in ulcer patients who have been subjected to different types of operation : gastrectomy, vagotomy and pyloroplasty , but none in patients with antrectomy and truncal vagotomy .
