The main campus of the National University of San Marcos (UNMSM), located in Lima, Peru, has green areas that function as refuges for a significant diversity of birds. The aim of this research was to determine the species composition of the avifauna present on the main campus of the National University of San Marcos, Lima, Peru. Observations were carried out between August 2024 and July 2025, during the morning and afternoon hours. Thirty-three species were recorded, distributed across 10 orders and 18 families, with the Passeriformes order and the Thraupidae family predominating. The most representative trophic guilds were granivores and insectivores equally (27.3%), which is consistent with patterns typically observed in urban environments. Furthermore, the adaptation of Chordeiles acutipennis (Hermann, 1783) to archaeological sites on campus was documented, highlighting the importance...

The competence of the European States in the field of international relations seems to conceive at the present time as an all-embracing faculty, which embraces all responsibility for any activity with external significance. In the Spanish case, this trend has meant a return to the prevailing conception during the primary stage of constitutional development, and refers to coverage in an expansive reading of the State’s competency title on international relations and on the functions of international treaties and Direction Foreign policy constitutionally conferred on the Government.

Childhood malnutrition and anemia constitute a serious public health problem, driving the search for foods enriched with protein and vitamin supplements to help reduce this issue. In this context, the present research was developed with the objective of creating a protein rich, probiotic, and energy boosting becerage based on mango (Mangifera indica), whey, and Lactobacillus casei. Five treatments were formulated with different proportions of mango pulp and whey (T1: 90/10, T2: 70/30, T3: 50/50, T4: 30/70, and T5: 10/90, with two replicates per treatment. The bererages were inoculated with L. casei, and the pH was monitored every 48 hours for 14 days. Aprogessive decrease in pH from 5.0 - 6.0 to aproximately 4.0 was observed, demonstrating the viability and stability of the probiotic during storage. Regarding protein composition, treatment T5 reached 4.92 g/100 ml of protein, while treat...

Commercial tara protein (CTP) and sacha inchi oil are promising Peruvian products for forming food emulsions. The present work aimed (1) to characterize the functional properties of CTP as a new protein source (water and oil absorption, foam, and gelling capacity) and (2) to deepen the CTP to form sacha inchi oil emulsions. The CTP (2%, 4%, 6%) and oil concentration (15%, 20% and 25%) were evaluated for rotor-stator (RS) emulsion production. Final emulsions (RS-US) were produced with RS emulsions added with 2% tara gum and ultrasound homogenization at 75% power amplitude for 3 min. Emulsions were analyzed according to gravitational stability, droplet size, and optical microscopy. The results showed that the CTP presented a centesimal composition of 6.03% moisture, 45.16% proteins, 12.32% lipids, 2.49% fiber, 6.04% ashes, and 27.96% carbohydrates. CTP had a greater oil absorption (2.1442 ...

The investigation constitutes an analysis of the management of hazardous solid waste during the hydrocarbon spill in Ventanilla. The method used is descriptive and comparative, consisting of the search, evaluation and analysis of the facts. Inadequate waste management was evidenced during the hydrocarbon clean-up work. After the accident occurred, the quantity and physical composition of the waste generated were not strictly accounted for, a waste hierarchy must be defined due to its dangerousness, prioritizing the separation of waste at the source of generation, and the prevention of secondary pollution. Contingency planning must incorporate handling and storage at the source: temporary storage with impermeable containers, transport through clearly defined and signposted accesses, and define final disposal in secure landfills. It is concluded that hazardous solid waste is the responsibi...

The respiratory metabolism of fruits is affected by multiple internal (product) and external (environmental) factors that often interact with each other. Among the external factors that have the greatest influence on respiration are temperature, air composition, moisture content and illumination. The aim of this paper is to elucidate the influence of environmental factors on the respiration rate of peach fruits based on transfer models obtained by dynamic regression modelling (ARIMAX). The fitted ARIMA models met the criteria of parsimony and white noise in residuals. The estimated coefficients of each model were statistically significant under the Durbin-Watson (DW), Akaike (AIC) and Schwarz (SBC) criteria. Transfer functions revealed 0.15% and 1.9% increase, and 0.001% decrease in the respiration rate of the peach fruit for each unit of change in temperature, relative humidity and illu...

This study is based on the studies of herbaceous plants, birds and coleoptera that were carried out between 1998 and 2001 in the Lachay National Reserve, and is based on the interest of generating a biological early warning of the El Niño event. The present study incorporated two samples for beetles in 2002 and two samples for each group in 2010. The objective of the research was to evaluate the variation of the biotic variables of the three biological groups under the El Niño Event between 1998-2001 and 2010, to identify indicator variables of the El Niño Event. In the plots, composition, abundance, diversity, and functional groups were estimated. In addition, for herbaceous plants, vegetation cover, density, IVI and Cinv were evaluated. Some variables (Cinv Abundance, Cinv Coverage, Cinv IVI native and/or endemic and in vegetation coverage) suggest a positive relationship with the...

Nanometric soot particles generated by incomplete oxidation of fuels have a negative impact on the climate change and human health. Although the soot production improves the radiative heat transfer in combustion systems, their mechanisms of formation/oxidation are not well understood due to the complex morphology and composition of soot particles inside the flame. In addition, measurements in flames are challenging due to high gradients of concentration and temperature, so non-intrusive techniques with high spatial and temporal resolution must be applied. After fuel pyrolysis, soot production beginning with the birth of incipient nascent soot particles; which are then transform into young soot by surface chemical reaction and surface condensation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). This is followed by further growth of soot particles through surface reactions and clusters aggrega...

In this paper, systematically describes the technology developed in this laboratory for the analysis of skeletal muscle, taken as an expression of the cellular phase of the organism, which is a great tool for future research on the changes that would occur in the intracellular environment during various pathological processes, or in many other biological problems. In our particular case, and as part of the curriculum of renal failure, we want to establish if it means intracellular biochemical changes, as with the extracellular environment, or whether its composition is more or less independent of renal function.

Polycristalline Ti oxide this films were prepared by reactive DC magnetron sputtering of Ti in O2+Ar onto Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) coated glass. Rutile and anatase phase films were obtained by heating the substrate during the deposition. Incident photon-to-current efficiency (IPCE) was studied as a function of several sputtering prameters such as temperature of the substraate, film thickness, and O2/Ar. The IPCE increased as the crystallinity of Ti oxide was systematically varied from amorphous to a mixture of anatase and rutile, and it was also enhanced in films deposited at low O2/Ar ratios. The photoresponse was measured using a three-electrode set-up with an electrolyte consisting of an aqueous 0.1 M KI solution purged with nitrogen. Action spectra were scanned between 280 and 400 nm in wavelength. The photogenerate current was found to be highly dependent on the composition thickness,...
