This study addresses rising sustainability demands in the agro-industry by examining how data-driven approaches can reduce inefficiencies, waste, and poor resource use in spinach production. It investigates the impact of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), First-In–First-Out (FIFO), process standardization, and circular economy practices—enhanced through digital transformation—on operational efficiency in a Peruvian agro-industrial firm. An exploratory case study was conducted using pilot implementations, direct observation, and quantitative analysis. Statistical tools, including Holt–Winters forecasting, were applied to assess the effectiveness of the interventions. Digital technologies supported data collection, traceability, and decision-making. An exploratory case study was conducted using pilot implementations, direct observation, and quantitative analysis. The integration o...

Since the 1970s, the global economic geography underwent major transformations of its production processes. One of the most important causes was the increasing internationalization and segmentation of production, giving rise to what are known as “global value chains” (GVCs). The aim of the paper is to explain the main changes in GVCs since the 1990s, identifying the countries and sectors that are most active in GVCs and whose participation has increased the most since the 1990s in absolute and relative terms; and to analyze whether or not there is a relationship between economic development and participation in CGVs.

Past 1990, capitalism has developed a series of gears on its own and proper functioning as world-system, to renew as many times as you want in the face of a crisis that speculates its apocalyptic end. It is capital, first a decisive factor in production, and at the same time a power that does not obey any law on how things have been set and order in the world, it is like that, that the circumstances of the moment have been taken advantage of in some way by networks and economic knots capitalizers common goods. It is on this expansive molding of practical reasons that the economy puneña unfolds day by day, perhaps in the best way, where social relations, modes of production and local economic flows are sufficiently chained to fixed and concentrated economic growth rates in the primary sector, particularly, agricultural and mining, here, is where the big doses of world market strongly pre...

This thesis addresses the critical challenges faced by a leading Peruvian underground mining company specializing in infrastructure and civil works. The research focuses on the issue of equipment downtime, which generates significant financial losses due to poor asset management and a lack of strategic integration, affecting the company's efficiency, competitiveness, and sustainability. The research concludes that this mining contractor company must implement a strategic transformation to improve decision-making and reduce equipment downtime. It is recommended to develop a change management model to adopt new technologies and processes, implement predictive management systems, foster cultural change, and optimize the integration between key areas to promote collaboration and reduce operational inefficiencies. The research provides a comprehensive action framework based on strategic metho...

The general objective of the study was to establish the influence of digital transformation on the profitability of a pharmaceutical distribution company in Trujillo, 2024. The research employed a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and explanatory approach. The population consisted of 96 employees of the company, and a probabilistic sample of 78 participants was obtained through random selection. Questionnaires with ordinal scales were used. A descriptive and correlational analysis was conducted using SPSS software version 26. The results showed a moderate (0.756) and significant relationship, with a 99% influence between digital transformation and profitability. Process digitization (0.731) influenced profitability by 59%, improvement in customer experience (0.513) by 62%, business model innovation (0.714) by 64%, and optimization of the value chain (0.670) by 64%. It is c...

Digital transformation is driven by new digital technologies, which are strongly impacting value chains, forms of organization and production, distribution channels, business models and the way in which innovation is carried out in companies and their allies. For this reason, it is important to understand the phenomenon, size it and develop organizational design proposals that facilitate managing it appropriately. Considering the above, this article aims to identify the relationship between digital transformation and innovation in companies, to determine how capabilities can be developed that allow reinforcing innovation processes. To this end, a model is proposed that correlates the management of digital technology and innovation with digital transformation, in such a way that there is a reference framework, guidelines and tools for its organizational deployment.

Discussions about Industry 4.0 and its relationship with supply chains are a topic that has been growing over time. In theory, this new technological revolution can transform industries and their business models entirely as there are new ways to offer value to customers. Developing new technologies will allow supply chains, mainly in manufacturing companies, to change their paradigms, achieving a competitive advantage over others. This article’s main objective is to investigate the current state of Industry 4.0 in supply chains, exploring the technologies that enable it, the existing uses in the processes, its benefits, and its challenges. For this purpose, a systematic literature review was conducted, in addition to bibliometric analysis.

The food system is a relevant component to sustain the cities, that arises from the interrelationship among stakeholders, infraestructures and natural resources, enabling food production, transformation, storage, distribution, commercialization and consumption, as well as food waste reuse. Thus, the system provides enough accessible and harmless food to the locals. In South America, the Pacific hydrographic region has hosted societies that created food systems that evolved from self-sufficient to open to economic chains. This has an impact on the management of production areas in the territory.  Since pre-Hispanic times, territory-adapted food systems were developed, which were focused on managing several production areas distributed in a group of basins. Nevertheless, the creation of large cities in this region, such as Metropolitan Lima, have resulted in the relocation of pro...

The recent growing needs in the global food industry have been demanding an agile and resilient response to continue manufacturing products with the expected quality and food safety. A key element for this is the agility of the quality management of the supply chain, which has been achieved from using a correct quality management data digitization as well as its processing through business analytics and whose results are presented in this business case. A prerequisite to be met was the global standardization of supplier performance evaluation criteria, whose efforts were achieved through the coordination of quality management professionals from France, Italy, the United States, Mexico, Brazil and Chile. With the standardized performance evaluation criteria, the calculation mechanisms were defined, which were later developed by the IT teams through Business Analytics solutions and represe...
