The need to develop a BCI brain- computer interface system for the control of a robotic arm in Peru arises from the possibility of interconnecting the human nervous system with a robotic or mechatronic system, and using this concept to recover some motor function. Brain Computer Interface (BCI) is a communication system based on the recording of brain signals (EEG). The electroencephalogram is the basis and support of the BCI technology. It is a novel technology that allows human-machine interaction in a virtual or physical environment, through a communication channel between the central nervous system and a robotic device. In recent years, the aforementioned systems have caused the interest of important research centers worldwide.

Background: Maca, Lepidium meyenii walp, is a plant that grows in Peruvian Andes’ highlands. It is used as food because of its nutritional value and its ethnical and medical properties related to fertility and vitality. Currently public interest has increased on food and dietetic supplements that contain active principles like polyphenol compounds with inhibitory effect on acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase activities, thus improving cognitive functions through mechanisms yet unknown; for this reason maca has been proposed as an adaptogen that increases energy and resistance and diminishes stress. The systematic review was carried out using the PRISMA methodology and focused on the search for scientific articles in which the effects of omega-3 or creatine supplementation in adults over 60 years of age and its effect on cognitive function had been investigated. The search criteria were supplementation, omega 3, creatine, older adults, memory, function and cognitive impairment. The exclusion criteria were athletes and people under 60 years of age. Articles from PubMed, ScienceDirect and SciELO were included. 223 articles were found investigating the effect of omega-3 supplementation and 25 articles on creatine supplementation, of which 29 and 3 were selected that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria respectively for each group. La parálisis cerebral infantil (PCI), o encefalopatía infantil crónica no progresiva, es la discapacidad física más común en la infancia, afectando entre 2,0 y 2,5 de cada 1.000 nacidos vivos a nivel mundial. Esta condición, causada por alteraciones en el control motor, impacta significativamente las capacidades funcionales, sociales y calidad de vida de los niños afectados. Asimismo, representa una carga física, emocional y económica importante para los cuidadores, quienes a menudo enfrentan estrés, depresión y deterioro de su bienestar, especialmente las mujeres, quienes asumen con mayor frecuencia este rol.

Objetive: To determine the functional integrity of the brainstem auditory pathway by the auditive brainstem response (ABR) in language-retarded children without pathology in both the middle ear and central nervous system and no neonatal hearing loss risk factors. Design: Retrospective transversal study. Setting: Naval Medical Center and Air Force Central Hospital Otorhinolaryngology Services, Lima. Peru. Material and methods: Analysis of children’s ABR performed in the last ten years included 48 children, 28 males and 20 females, 1 to 11 year-old.
