Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of dry socket as a postoperative complication in cases where there was intense local pain in the preoperative state, during the preventive mandatory social isolation (PMSI) for the COVID-19 pandemic in Argentina. Methods: This was a descriptive study, which included 1209 walk-in patients at the emergency and orientational service at Buenos Aires University School of Dentistry during the PMSI from March 20 to June 20, 2020, with indication for dental extraction as well as intense acute pain at the surgical site. The presence of dry socket was exploratoryly associated with the variables age, sex, smoking and chronic medication use. It was the 1870s and Buenos Aires managed to break the general impression of a still typically colonial city. The rural aspect and the peasant atmosphere, that peculiar air of outside the walls that invaded the visitor when he left the center, the insufficiencies of an urban structure lacking drinking water, electricity, pavements, means of transport... the behaviors so little " civilizations" of such little "working" inhabitants... supported the conviction in the leading sectors - landowners, professionals and merchants who administered the city and directed the nation - that everything was still to be done. To change the course, these men did not hesitate to prioritize the measures: the replacement and increase of the population.

El presente documento es producto de la investigación y el análisis de un sector de la ciudad de Lima, Barrios Altos. Se estudia al usuario y sus necesidades, y el entorno para poder diseñar los espacios adecuados que respondan a los requerimientos de los pobladores de la zona y permita difundir, conservar y promover la cultura criolla arraigada en sus pobladores y que es parte de la identidad cultural que los distingue. The article describes and analyses the diversity of religious practices of Buenos Aires slums inhabitants. The analysis is based on aggregate data obtained through a questionnaire applied to a representative sample of residents. First, we present a discussion on the concept of popular religiosity that sustains our understanding of religious practices. We then analyze the incidence and characteristics of 18 practices, comparing them, when possible, with data from the Atlas of religious diversity coordinated by Mallimaci (2013). We delve into more depth on some of them: making a promise to a devoted figure, and having a domestic altar. The article explores a case brought forward to the Cabildo of Buenos Aires after the annual election of council positions held in January 1804. The sudden resignation of one of the elected mayors triggered a dispute involving several government agencies and even resonating in the Madrid Court. Using documents from multiple sources, and drawing from the methodological contributions of the new political history, the jurisdictional approach to political power, and Inquisition studies, the study focuses on the strategic use of appeals and political powers, as well as on the juxtaposition of privileges and positions among Inquisition “familiares”. It also approaches the dispute as part of the confrontational dynamics of local elite groups, where capitulars’ connections with Court procu-ration mechanisms was highly relevant. This paper analyzes, from a glotopolitical perspective, the establishment and functioning of a Spanish-Putonghua bilingual public school in the city of Buenos Aires. This institution and its implementation demonstrate a concern for the educational inclusion of Chinese migrants and their descendants, as well as for the preservation and learning of the immigration language. Throughout this article, we will show how Putonghua is constructed both as a language of instruction and as an “object language” in legal regulations, classes, and in the speeches of officials. We argue that the motivation underlying the creation of this school is the increasing importance that Putonghua has gained globally in recent years.

For the first time in Buenos Aires we had find material evidence of the practice of the Jewish religion during the colonial period. The finding of a tile floor engraved on its underside with a Star of David, from a colonial upper class house, introduced us on the field of the situation of the Jewish population in the Spanish colonial world.

Background: Currently, anxiety disorders are the most prevalent worldwide, reaching a rate of 5% in Argentina in 2017. The Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) is one of the instruments most used in research and clinic today. In its construction, one of the objectives was to evaluate anxiety symptoms that are not usually evident in depressive disorders, which is why it is a relevant test to make a differential diagnosis. The objective of this study was to adapt the BAI to the adult population of Buenos Aires. Methods: A direct translation of the inventory and then an expert judgment to assess the content validity were carried out. The aim of this study was to determine demographic and ownership pet characteristics, motivations, attitudes and behaviours of the human population raising or not raising pets, especially dogs in Buenos Aires city. A prevalence explanatory social study was designed in two areas of the city with different socio-economic structure. A survey was conducted in 357 households in San Cristóbal (group 1) and in 169 households in Barrio Mitre (group 2). A high proportion of animals per household in both areas was observed. Per capita canine ownership rates significantly differed which can be attributed to different socio-economic status. Se describe La Casa del Niño de Buenos Aires, institución dedicada al cuidado de niños abandonados, que tenía varios años de funcionamiento en la Argentina. Es un hogar para niños abandonados o de quienes sus padres han debido desprenderse por la imposibilidad de atenderlos o bien que han cometido pequeñas delincuencias. En cualquiera de los casos, la mayoría de estos niños son enviados a la Casa del Niño por el Tribunal de Menores. Different academic situations demand the use of specific thinking styles in order to achieve success in higher educational. The study aims to describe college students’ thinking styles and to relate them with academic achievement. The sample was composed of 225 college students representing diverse majors. A MANCOVA test revealed significant multivariate effects for sex and major, as well as for the interaction between sex and working status. Correlational analysis verified significant associations between academic achievement and styles for Social and Human Science majors. Results are discussed from theoretical and practical standpoints.

The fieldwork consisted of making music together with the group, trying to generate an intersubjective practice that questions the division of traditional empiricism. The community is expressed in values, defined as Andean, that model the types of interaction and organization of the group. The idea of this article is to inquire about the different dimensions of the public space and explore which of the potential perspectives we have to take in consideration when you have to work in it. The city of Buenos Aires is taken as a model. In the last years, the local government has been building several public spaces improving its performance and quality standards.
