Background: Currently, anxiety disorders are the most prevalent worldwide, reaching a rate of 5% in Argentina in 2017. The Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) is one of the instruments most used in research and clinic today. In its construction, one of the objectives was to evaluate anxiety symptoms that are not usually evident in depressive disorders, which is why it is a relevant test to make a differential diagnosis. The objective of this study was to adapt the BAI to the adult population of Buenos Aires. Methods: A direct translation of the inventory and then an expert judgment to assess the content validity were carried out. The discrimination capacity of the items was analyzed and the structural validity of the test was evaluated according to different models found in the literature. Also, the internal consistency of the instrument was analyzed. Results: The adapt...

The relationship between coping responses and test anxiety was addressed by different investigations. However, no studies have been found about coping profiles and their relationship to test anxiety. The objective of this research was to study the coping profiles of 100 psychology students and their relationship with test anxiety. A solution of 3 well differentiated clusters was found regarding the mean scores of coping responses. It was found that the participants belonging to the cluster with the lowest scores in all the coping responses experienced a lower level of concern, emotionality and global test anxiety. The implications of these results are discussed.

Background: Anxiety disorders are the most prevalent worldwide, followed by depressive disorders. The Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI; Beck et al., 1988) has been developed to assess the severity of anxiety symptoms and perform a differential diagnosis between anxiety and depression disorders. Objective: To examine the temporal stability of the BAI in its version adapted to Argentina and obtain evidence of discriminant validity. Method: In a sample of 52 people, the intraclass correlation coefficient was analyzed. Then, in a sample of 225 people, a correlation analysis between BAI scores and the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II; Beck et al., 2006) was performed; subsequently, an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) with reagents from both instruments was conducted and the heterotrait-monotrait ratio of correlations (HTMT) was calculated. Results: The intraclass correlation coefficient was ....

Symptoms of anxiety and depression represent a problem for health systems. Different sociodemographic variables affect the risk of suffering from them, among which is life stage. Given that the research literature is not clear about which age groups are at risk, the present research aimed to evaluate the symptoms of anxiety and depression in different age groups (18 to 24 years, 25 to 55 years and 56 to 65 years) of adults from CABA (35 %) and Greater Buenos Aires (65 %), considering interactions with gender and educational level. A sociodemographic questionnaire, the Beck Anxiety Inventory, and the Beck Depression Inventory were administered. The results show that the 18- to 24-year-old group reported higher levels of anxiety symptoms than the others. The 25- to 55-year-old group reported higher levels of depressive symptoms than the 56- to 65-year-old group. Regarding gender, those who...
