The article sets out to study the Ni Una Menos Perú 2016 movement with the objectives of identifying and analyzing the game of tensions and negotiations between the several feminist collectives that participated in the August 13, 2016 march. This march presents different ways of carrying out politics between new collectives and established feminist organizations in a context of global relations, social networks, and within the authoritarian Peruvian society. This interaction also reveal the intersection between gender and race, class, and ethnicity. The study seeks to address how a movement that became a platform for thousands of women who brave to narrate violence accounts to which they were subjects, become fragmented. The study consists of seven in-depth interviews to members of the most active and diverse collectives.

OBJECTIVE: To determine Aeromonas importance as diarrhea agent in children less than 5 year- old and compare its frequency with other enteropathogens. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Between 1998 and 1999 285 fecal samples were taken from children with acute diarrhea in 5 hospitals, which were then sent to Daniel A. Carrión Institute of Tropical Medicine in Cary Blairs transportation medium for processing by Aerokey II method. RESULTS: Aeromonas was the most frequent bacteria isolated among enteropathogens, mainly in children less than 2-year old and in summer, and Aeromonas caviae was the most frequent species. Aeromonas was mainly isolated in agar TCBS, employing O/129 disks to differentiate it from Vibrio cholerae. All Aeromonas were sensitive in vitro to furazolidone and neomycin. CONCLUSIONS: Aeromonas was the main etiological agent of aquous acute diarrhea in children less than 5 year...

This document attempts to evaluate the strength and weaknesses of the Peruvian economy when facing external shocks, specifically a contraction in the US output. For this purpose, an analysis of the vulnerabilities’ sources is made through the revision of relevant indicators; after that, the main transmission channels are raised and an econometric exercise using the structural vector autoregressive methodology is developed to simulate the effects of a shock in US economy. The main conclusion is that even though the country shows an important strengthening in many relevant aspects such as financial strength indicators and export diversification, in its position of a small and open economy, it remains exposed to external shocks. Nevertheless, it is clear that the actual position of Peruvian economy is more favorable. In this way, it has been demonstrated that Peru can maintain a growth r...

There is no doubt that we live longer, that is, the world population is aging; partly thanks to advances in science and technology, and its application to medicine for the prevention, cure, and recovery of different nosological entities previously considered lethal. The world life expectancy in 1990 was 65.45 years; for the dawn of the new millennium, it increased to 67.68, for 2010 to 70.68 and for 2017 to 72.25 years of life at birth. In general terms, the world population of people over 50 almost doubled from 878 million in 1990 to 1,640 million in 2015. As is already known, the fact that the population is living longer brings with it the increase of so-called degenerative diseases, among which is age-related macular degeneration (AMD). We live longer, but we see less.

Programmable logic controllers (PLC) devices play an important role in automation systems; therefore, technicians must have adequate training with these devices. If a student wants to learn about PLCs, they will find two problems. First, training programs are expensive, and second, PLC modules are not suitable for gaining hands-on skills. This study proposes the implementation and validation of a less expensive PLC module that is accessible to students interested in learning about this technology. Two prototypes were developed using a PIC16F877 and an ATMEGA328P microcontroller. This study describes the enhancement made in the second prototype over the first prototype. Finally, a comparison test between the two prototypes and two commercial PLCs is demonstrated. A MyRIO programmed as a data logger monitored the PLC operation for 12h. The program recorded the response time of the PLC outp...

ABSTRACT Background: Understanding problems of access to oral health services requires knowledge of factors that determine access. This study aimed to evaluate factors that determine access to oral health services among children aged <12 years in Peru between 2014 and 2015. Methods: We performed a secondary data analysis of 71,614 Peruvian children aged <12 years and their caregivers. Data were obtained from the Survey on Demography and Family Health 2014-2015 (Encuesta Demográfica y de Salud Familiar - ENDES). Children’s access to oral health services within the previous 6 months was used as the dependent variable (i.e. Yes/No), and the Andersen and col model was used to select independent variables. Predisposing (e.g., language spoken by tutor or guardian, wealth level, caregivers’ educational level, area of residence, natural region of residence, age, and sex) and enabling factor...

This article presents the design of the Math Level 0 course aligned with the Educational Model of the UPC and developed under the structure proposed by 'MATE'. The phrase 'Less is more' that gives name to this article describes a philosophical concept which is applicable to the classroom where the teacher only intervenes when it is necessary. In this context, the student has the major role. 'Less is More' requires the student accessing knowledge with enthusiasm, which will occur if the student has a major role in the teachinglearning system. The teachers are one more resource in the classroom and while the knowledge that should be acquired is important, the learning process learnt by the student on their own is paramount. It is expected in 'Less is More' that the teacher favours the learning of the students in an environment of tolerance and respect and it is demanded from the teac...
