Our objective is the prediction of poker hands, the probability that you can draw a good hand when you make 5 steals from a 52-card poker deck. We apply neural networks to make this prediction together with different libraries that help the process is more simplified and the results are more reliable, therefore in the use of this methodology we managed to obtain an average of 97% in most cases with a deviation of 2.5% which we consider acceptable due to the very unbalanced amount of the data from this dataset, therefore this artificial intelligence method helps us predict new hands and make better decisions as you find yourself in a game situation.

Most of our economists affirm that we are already a western and modern country and they try to convince us, in a way that is not consistently explained to us, that Peruvian society has been empowered within the framework of liberal capitalism, reinforcing this position in a national state and in the positivist reason of science. In the present text we affirm that these factors have indeed been installed in Peru; but in a defective way. Worse still, in order to achieve this, the use of exclusionary, instrumentalist and totalitarian methods was not spared in the face of other, non-liberal, non-scientific and non-Europeanizing discourses.

Diabetic hand syndrome is a rare and underdiagnosed complication of diabetes mellitus. This term is used to describe a potentially dangerous infection of the hand, characterized by debilitating musculoskeletal disorders. Although the diagnosis is commonly made in tropical regions, cases have also been reported in non-tropical and in marginal urban areas. The pathophysiology of this syndrome remains unclear because, unlike diabetic foot, peripheral neuropathy and vascular disease do not seem to a play major role. Evidence suggests that it may be associated with the duration of diabetes, poor metabolic control and microvascular complications. In this article, we present the cases of two patients with diabetic hand syndrome. The first case involves a 52-year-old female patient from a rural area, diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus six years ago, currently in poor metabolic control. She ...

Dear Editor: Hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) is a common childhood infection caused by coxsackieviruses (CV) A5, A6, A7, A10, A16, B1, B2, B3 and B5, and by enterovirus (EV) A71 (1-10). HFMD affects individuals of all ages, with severe cases occurring in patients aged one year or younger (1-3). A very recent review article on HFMD was published in this journal by Herrera Ortiz JU et al. which emphasizes the sanitary conditions that predispose to the increase of this disease and the need for efficient vaccination against all causative agents in order to avoid its spread and epidemic outbreaks (2). The authors analyzed 43 data sources published up to 2022, and the synthesis of this evaluation was clearly explained, which increased the general interest of healthcare workers. Given the importance of this type of research, the purpose of the following comments on new references from 2024...

The objective was to know the hand hygiene habits of medical students; as well as the bacterial population resident in the palm of the hands. An observational, descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out. Likewise, a hand hygiene behavior survey was carried out on 100 students, and a microbiological culture of the palmar surface was carried out on 33 other students. Regarding hygiene habits, 74% showed an appropriate attitude. The hygiene attitude was appropriate in 41.3% and 46% in relation to the prevention of contagion. The following pathogenic microorganisms were isolated: S.aureus with 20 cases (60.6%), P. aeruginosa, Enterobacter and S.viridans, one in each case. Therefore, workshops or dissemination campaigns should be organized to raise awareness and modulate hand hygiene habits in students.

Subcutaneous emphysema of noninfectious cause occurs rarely. We present this case due to the importance of discerning it from one with an infectious etiology. Our patient came to the hospital with increased volume in the left hand after suffering a cut on the fifth finger of that hand with a metal bar. Blood tests were within normal ranges. Signs of subcutaneous emphysema were noted in the hand X-ray. Empirical antibiotic therapy was initiated with improvement at 36 hours. This case is of interest to consider non-infectious causes in the differential diagnosis of hand emphysema.

HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND) is not a well recognized entity but has high prevalence and impact in individuals infected with HIV. The term HAND encompasses a spectrum of progressive central nervous system (CNS) involvement, ranging from asymptomatic neurocognitive impairment and minor neurocognitive disorder through to the most severe form of HIV-associated dementia (HAD). While the incidence of HAD has declined significantly with highly active antiretroviral treatment (HAART), the milder forms of HAND have increased. In this review, updated nomenclature and research case definitions to guide HAND diagnosis are described. Clinical manifestations, diagnosis and treatment recommendations are also outlined. Finally, while neurocognitive impairment is typically diagnosed with full neuropsychological evaluation, the interpretation of test results is based on comparing the pat...

Hand, foot and mouth disease is a recurring contagious infection in children living under poor sanitary conditions, especially in developing countries, where a substantial increase in the disease has been reported in recent years. The study aimed to describe and analyze the occurrence of such disease in children, focusing on the most outstanding theoretical aspects that characterize it. For this purpose, a systematic review of the literature was conducted in PubMed, Google Scholar and Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) using logical operators such as "EMPB" OR "Coxsackie A16" AND "Children" AND "Coxsackievirus Infections" AND "Child". A total of 584 research studies in Spanish and English published between 2010 and 2022 were identified, from which, after a scientific quality assessment process using checklists, quality criteria and relevant strength of re...

Abstract—Stroke is the third cause of all disabilities for people over 25 years old. Indeed, the percentage of people who suffer from hemiplegia after stroke is higher than 75%. Patients with hemiplegia have considerable difficulty performing activities of daily living, such as feeding or grasping objects. Assistive devices for stroke patients have been developing since a very long time ago; however, some of them are not well accepted by patients because they are not comfortable, wearable, portable, lightweight and useful. This research presents the first version of the design of dynamic orthosis to aid post-stroke patients with hemiplegia to grasp cylindrical and spherical objects. The proposed orthosis was designed by using a cyclic design methodology called Iterative Design which is used for continuous product improvement; moreover, this paper presents a detailed description of the ...

Partial hand and transradial amputations are among the most common levels of amputation. In the former case, a mechanical prosthesis is prescribed, while in the latter case either a mechanical or a myoelectric one are used depending on the patient’s preference and access to the technology. While a variety of prostheses designs are aimed to transradial amputees and plenty others are for partial hand amputations, like the 3D-printed open-source concepts that are activated by the user’s wrist, for a faster and more efficient treatment of hand amputations, one design should be adaptive for different levels of amputation without compromising the prosthesis performance. This work describes a powered prosthesis design with modular fingers and space constraints that allow it to be adapted to different levels of amputation. The prosthesis finger lengths could also be customized to user-specif...

Cerebral palsy is a highly debilitating disorder that results from brain damage during development or birth. It can cause motor and language disabilities. Spasticity is one common complication of cerebral palsy which makes movement of upper and lower limbs difficult and often causes joint deformities. To manage spasticity, less intrusive recommendations include the use of hand orthotics. However, in resource-constrained areas, orthotics are often unaffordable and poorly constructed. 3D-printed orthotics could provide an innovative solution, as they utilize high precision manufacturing with low-cost materials. The aim of this study is to determine whether 3D printed orthotics are as effective as conventional orthotics at preventing hand deformities in children with cerebral palsy.

The article explores one of the aspects of Heidegger's existential analytic – everyday dealings with ready-to-hand equipment (tools). The author’s aim is to analyze the phenomenon of equipment in a broader perspective to widen the borders of everyday being-in-the-world characterized by routine nonthematic dealings with things that distract man from his true being. The author claims that in everyday use man discovers only functionality of equipment which cannot be considered its genuine grasp. The actual knowledge of things is accessible mainly to their creators for whom they are not ready-to-hand tools but the aim of their thematic investigative thought. The concrete notion of a thing is developed by those who know the origin and formation of things. Accordingly, Dasein’s everyday concern for the world is not the primary mode of being-in-the-world. The primary one is the master's n...

The arbitration proceeding is characterized for being an efficient, impartial, and above all a transparent mechanism, wherefore various private and public entities have aimed to it in order to solve their patrimonial controversies. Nevertheless, there is a sector within the doctrine that maintains that, on the assumption that the matter to arbitrate comes from legal relationships marked by corruption, the arbitration court should declare the unarbitrability of the matter, since it would violate the public order. The present paper will broach the impact of the entitled «Clean Hands Doctrine» on certain Law branches, its origins on the worldwide legal systems, the relation of it with other legal entities on which it is based on, and we will discuss international legal precedents on the matter, as well as the possible application of this doctrine to arbitration proceedings on a loca...
