Objective: To compare surface microhardness of self-curing and heat-curing acrylic discs in different periods of time. Methodology: This in vitro laboratory study, consisted of 80 acrylic discs (Vitalloy), 40 self-cured (A) and 40 heat-cured (T) divided into 8 subgroups: self-cure control group GA0 (n=10), heat-cure control group GT0 (n=10), self-cure group stored 1 day GA1 (n=10), heat-cure group stored 1 day GT1 (n=10), self-cure group stored 7 days GA7 (n=10), heat-cure group stored 7 days GT7 (n=10), self-cure group stored 21 days GA21 (n=10), and heat-cure group stored 21 days GT21 (n=10). Objective: The objective of the research carried out was to compare the depth cure of 3 composite resins using the ISO 4049 standard with 3 different lamp models. Materials and methods: Composite resin cylinders (15 for each experimental group) were made according to ISO 4049 with the following types of resins composites: Beautifil Bulk (BB) (Shofu Inc), Tetric N Ceram Bulk Fill (TC) (Ivoclar Vivadent), Filtek One Restaurador Bulk Fill (FO) (3M ESPE). The composite resins were photoactivated with LED curing lamps. (LED C monowave – Woodpecker, X CURE poliwave - Woodpecker, I LED II poliwave - Woodpecker). The sanitation and disinfecting of lama meat naturally infected with macrocysts of Sarcocystis aucheniae through any of four chemical methods (marinated, smoked, dry cured and wet cured) was evaluated. In addition, a positive control group (non-treated meat) was included. A lisis of macrocysts from treated and non-treated meats was prepared and inoculated into 30 rabbits (100 μg/kg of body weigh, subcutaneously). Rabbits of the humid cured and positive control groups showed clinical signs of toxicity and died within 8-12 hours post-inoculation. Furthermore, 12 puppies of 4-6 months of age were fed with the infected lama meat (150-200 macrocysts per puppy) previously treated with one of the chemical methods under evaluation (one group was kept as a positive control one). This paper presents a regression model for discrete time data with cure fraction. For this purpose, we considered a mixture model, in which times are modeled through the discrete Weibull distribution and the cure probability modeled with covariates by using the logit link function. Considering that the model is a mixture, the estimation of the parameters was performed by EM algorithm. The behavior of the estimating algorithm was tested with Monte Carlo simulation experiments and an application for real data was added.

We used 40 caries-free permanent premolars recently extracted, which were randomly divided into two groups (n = 20), sealed with a resin based fissure sealant, Helioseal F (Ivoclar Vivadent), according to the manufacturer patterns, then photopolymerized using either L.E.D. light or conventional halogen light (control group). Background: According to the World Health Organization, tuberculosis produces around 1.5 million deaths worldwide each year. In Peru, during the 2011-2015 period, incidence and morbidity rates have decreased from 97.4 to 87.4 and from 109.7 to 99.5 respectively. However, tuberculosis remains as the fifteenth cause of death. The clinical evolution of these patients will depend on many factors, such as adherence to treatment, comorbidities, drug resistance of the pathogen. In this research, the chemical analysis of 15 Rímac river water samples was performed to determine the chloride and sulfate content, alkalinity, hardness and pH level. The results were compared with the permissible limits of current technical standards. Most found values were within the established range. Thus, it is concluded that the Rímac river water is suitable for concrete production.

This article presents the improvement of the surface coating process with electrostatic painting by manufacturing an LPG batch-type curing oven with a working volume of 20 m³. The structure was manufactured with 3/16” x 2” structural angles, sandwich panels made of 0.6 mm and 1.0 mm galvanized steel sheets and with a 2” thick wool interior as insulation. 6 LPG catalytic infrared burners were used with a total power of 65.4 kW/h, with which the temperature of 180 °C was reached in 20 minutes with maximum load. Hot and cold smoked, dry and wet cured, wet-cured and smoked, and dry-cure and smoked techniques for sanitation and detoxification of alpaca meat naturally infected with macrocysts of Sarcocystis aucheniae were evaluated. Eighteen puppies of 4-6 months of age were fed with the infected and treated alpaca meat (100 macrocysts per puppy). Lysates of macrocysts from treated meats were prepared and inoculated into 18 rabbits (100 μ/kg of body weight, subcutaneously). Furthermore, lysates were boiled (100º C for 10 min) and inoculated into 8 rabbits. Only dogs of the positive control group and the wet cured group eliminated sporocysts after 15 days of ingestion. None of the treatments were able to detoxify alpaca meat infected and rabbits died within 12-27 h post- inoculation of lysates. The heat treatment denatured macrocysts lysates protein and none of the rabbits die after inoculation.

Objetive: To monitor the light curing units available at undergraduate dental clinics of a Brazilian Public Higher Education Institution for seven uninterrupted years. Materials and methods: In the period between 2011-2017, the quality control of light curing units at the Faculty of Dentistry, Federal University of Goiás, was evaluated by analyzing their state of conservation and power density (mW/cm2). Data obtained were subjected to descriptive statistical analysis and Levene, Shapiro-Wilk, Kruskal-Wallis, Dunn and Chi-square tests (P <0.05). Objective: To compare in vitro the mechanical properties and depth of cure of bioactive bulk-fill resins versus bulk-fill composite resins. Materials and methods: An in vitro experimental study was conducted with 48 blocks of three types of resin. Each block received a load of 500 g for 30 seconds and was photopolymerized with a VALO® Cordless-Ultradent unit (1500 mW/cm2) for 4 seconds. Microhardness was evaluated using the Vickers hardness test, employing a calibrated LG® HV-1000 hardness tester.
