Publicación Especial, n° 9, 2010.Páginas 849-852.Las sucesiones sedimentarias atribuidas al Jurásico medio en las altiplanicies del centro del Perú, sobreyacen al Grupo Pucará (Triásico superior-Jurásico inferior) e infrayacen al Grupo Goyllarisquizga (Cretácico inferior). Estas formaciones han sido reconocidas en los alrededores de Huancayo, Huancavelica y al norte de Ayacucho (Totos-Paras) y corresponden a las formaciones Chunumayo, Cercapuquio y Chaucha. Estas unidades están restringidas entre el Sistema de Fallas Chonta (SF-CH) al oeste y el Sistema de Fallas Huachocolpa-HuancavelicaHuancayo (SF-HHH) hacia el este. Las formaciones Chunumayo, Cercapuquio y Chaucha afloran juntas, aunque cabe precisar que registran variaciones en sus espesores, y se extienden en franjas de dirección NO-SE.
