The purpose of the present study was to determine the seroprevalence of Brucella sp. in goats from 10 districts of the Huarochirí province, Lima. Blood samples were collected from 384 female goats older than 6 months of age for the detection of antibodies against Brucella sp. using the Rose Bengal test. None of the samples resulted positive.

The frequency of lesions of the appendicular skeleton diagnosed in canines was evaluated in the radiology area of Small Animal Clinic of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos during the period 2012-2016. In total, 2552 radiological recordings made in the appendicular skeleton were analyzed. Of these, 43.3% (n=1106) presented traumatic injuries, 23.2% (n=591) orthopedic injuries, 12.7% (n=323) degenerative injuries, 2.7% (n=69) injuries compatible with osteomyelitis, 1.7% (n=42) lesions compatible with neoplasms, and 0.5% (n=13) lesions compatible with hypertrophic osteodystrophy. Among trauma injuries, the bone structures with the highest frequency of fracture were the pelvis (35.1%; n=388) and femur (26.9%; n=298) and among orthopedic injuries were patellar luxation (36.9%; n=218) and hip dysplasia (36.6%; n=216). Traumatological injuries wer...

When we want to work with signals produced by the human body, we face different challenges that we must address, from the sensor to be used, through the conditioning of the signal for later registration and analysis, these stages are important to have a Good record of the clean interference signal that are foreign to the signal. One of the challenges you have when working with the electromyography signal, is to be able to understand the behavior of the muscles accompanied by the biophysics of the movement that is performed, for your better understanding and analysis the monitoring of several muscles at the same time is required, what originates a multichannel record, this condition is a complex requirement at the time of being able to design a team that can perform this multi record, being able to record these signals is vital for a subsequent analysis and understanding of muscle activit...

Changes in land use and land cover are major drivers of hydrological alteration in the tropical Andes. However, quantifying their impacts is fraught with difficulties because of the extreme diversity in meteorological boundary conditions, which contrasts strongly with the lack of knowledge about local hydrological processes. Although local studies have reduced data scarcity in certain regions, the complexity of the tropical Andes poses a big challenge to regional hydrological prediction. This study analyses data generated from a participatory monitoring network of 25 headwater catchments covering three of the major Andean biomes (páramo, jalca and puna) and links their hydrological responses to main types of human interventions (cultivation, afforestation and grazing). A paired catchment setup was implemented to evaluate the impacts of change using a ‘trading space‐for‐time’ app...
