Complete unilateral palatine fissure affects the region of the middle facial third and individuals born with this condition have altered structures on the side where the malformation developed. The objective of the present case report was to describe a pre-surgical orthopedics alternative in a female infant of 1 month 5 days of age with complete unilateral palatine fissure diagnosed with complete unilateral left palatine fissure. The Hinostroza nasal retractor modification was placed, allowing symmetry to the affected nasal structure with respect to the unaffected side. This procedure provides good results, low cost and easy handling and should be considered as an alternative treatment in neonates born with complete unilateral palatine fissure.

Dental eruption is a dynamic process, which begins when the dentary germ forms in the developmental crypt and finally appears in the mouth. The dental follicle has an important role in the coronal and root formation of the tooth and is essential for tooth eruption, without which the tooth could not erupt. Tooth eruption requires resorption of the alveolar bone that covers the crown of the tooth to form a path to the eruption and biological processes by which the tooth can move through this eruption path. Tooth eruption needs localized and genetically programmed molecular and cellular processes that allow osteogenesis and osteoclastogenesis of the alveolar bone to form the eruption path. The objective of this review was to describe the possible cellular and molecular events that influence the tooth eruption process, since the exact mechanism remains unknown.

Trauma in the primary dentition often requires different management than in the permanent dentition. We present the case of an 18-month-old female patient, in apparent good general condition, with no medical history, who came to the pediatric dentistry service of the Teaching Dental Center of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia because "a tooth had become incrusted when it fell out". After the extraoral examination, edema was observed in the lower lip and intraorally there was an apical displacement of tooth 61. Radiographically, it is observed that tooth 61 is rotated with apical displacement. Diagnosis: Intrusive dislocation of tooth 61 and contusion of the lower lip. Treatment: Washing with physiological saline solution, soft diet, and use of a soft bristle toothbrush; she was kept under observation. Controls: Follow-up was carried out for seven months, during which time spontane...

The International System of Classification and Management of Caries (ICCMS) is a comprehensive set of clinical protocols aimed at providing a better approach to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of dental caries. Modification of risk factors, treatment of teeth with active caries lesions and the preservation of the structure of dental enamel in order to restore tooth structure only when necessary are ideal approaches that odontopediatricians should incorporate into daily practice. The objective of this study was to present the current diagnostic tools to improve the decisionmaking when selecting treatment plans and provide more individualized care to each patient.

The diagnosis of dental caries is no longer like the traditional diagnosis that histologically mentioned the beginning and the end of a cavity. Diagnostic criteria and tools used in detecting caries lesions have been shown to affect decision-making for their treatment. Today, dental caries is considered a process; Therefore, in this article, new proposals are described that will help us with the diagnosis, management, and control of the said disease. The Cambra and Icdas criteria are the ones that are theoretically supported by scientific evidence of what is currently the pathology and its development, so the historical background of its development, its main characteristics are described, and options for integration into the diagnostic process are proposed. in favor of greater conservation of the dental structure.

For decades, stainless steel crowns have been considered the easiest and most durable restoration. However, due to the poor aesthetics they offer, these crowns are no longer acceptable to patients and/ or their parents. Currently, use of  crowns as a rehabilitative treatment is common and the pediatric dentist requires practical knowledge, which is why innovative aesthetic alternatives such as zirconia crowns have emerged. For this reason, the objective of this article is to offer a clinical guide to the management of zirconia crowns in the anterior and posterior regions of deciduous dentition.
