Complex structural X chromosome abnormalities are rare in humans and animals, and not recurrent. Yet, each case provides a fascinating opportunity to evaluate X chromosome content and functional status in relation to the effect on the phenotype. Here, we report the first equine case of a complex unbalanced X-autosome rearrangement in a healthy but short in stature Thoroughbred mare. Studies of about 200 cells by chromosome banding and FISH revealed an abnormal 2n=63,X,der(X;16) karyotype with a large dicentric derivative chromosome (der). The der was comprised of normal Xp material, a palindromic duplication of Xq12q21, and a translocation of chromosome 16 to the inverted Xq12q21 segment by the centromere, whereas the distal Xq22q29 was deleted from the der. La industria textil emplea ¨tintes artificiales¨ en las fibras de algodón, los cuales han resultado perjudiciales para la salud. El empleo de estos tintes puede ser reemplazado por el uso de variedades que producen fibras de colores, los algodones nativos del Perú, que poseen diferentes colores y tonalidades. Ante la necesidad de conocimiento en esta área se planteó como objetivo determinar la caracterización de los frutos, semillas y fibras de Gossypium barbadense “algodón pardo”. Las semillas procedieron de San Benito-Cajamarca, la fase experimental se realizó en el Laboratorio de Biotecnología del Instituto de la Papa y Cultivos Andinos de la Universidad Nacional de Trujillo con 30 repeticiones. Background From the social-ecological perspective, exposure to violence at the different developmental levels is fundamental to explain the dynamics of violence and victimization in educational centers. The following study aims at analyzing how these relationships are produced in the Peruvian context, where structural violence situations exist. Methods A multi-mediation structural model with 21,416 Peruvian adolescents (M = 13.69; SD = 0.71) was conducted to determine the influence of violence in the school environment on violence perceived within school and violence exercised by teachers. In addition, it was also intended to determine whether these violent relationships predict depression through loneliness, and bullying through peer victimization. The characterization of the thermal insulation properties of construction materials represents a fundamental step on building insulation assessment. The present work aims to design and build a portable apparatus, namely, Portable LAMBDA UNI, capable of measuring the thermal conductivity of insulation materials. This portable apparatus is based on the standard ASTM C 518, which is a secondary method for measuring thermal conductivity. The apparatus also measures the effective thermal conductivity of square prism thermal insulation materials of 60 mm per side and a maximum thickness of 14 mm. The thermal conductivity of the drywall and adobe with Stipa ichu was measured with the Portable LAMBDA UNI, with the values being 0.265 W m-1 K-1and 0.357 W m-1 K-1, respectively. © 2021 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Background: Pembrolizumab has efficacy in programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1)-positive metastatic or unresectable cervical cancer that has progressed during chemotherapy. We assessed the relative benefit of adding pembrolizumab to chemotherapy with or without bevacizumab. Methods: In a double-blind, phase 3 trial, we randomly assigned patients with persistent, recurrent, or metastatic cervical cancer in a 1:1 ratio to receive pembrolizumab (200 mg) or placebo every 3 weeks for up to 35 cycles plus platinum-based chemotherapy and, per investigator discretion, bevacizumab.
