Se está aplicando la retrodispersión de rayos gamma en la materia como un método para la determinación de densidad de suelos. En este trabajo se usa el método de Monte Carlo para simular la historia de cada uno de los rayos gamma que, a partir de/a fuente de un equipo de medición de suelos, ingresa a un suelo y, eventualmente, llega al detector del mismo equipo. A partir de ello se calcula la probabilidad para que los rayos gammas lleguen al detector, en función de la densidad y espesor del suelo y de la distancia fuente-detector.

Pancreatic hamartomas (PH) are extremely unusual non-neoplastic tumor-like lesions and accounts for <1% of all hamartomas. Moreover, there is a distinct variant of PH denominated Pancreatic lipomatous hamartoma (PLH), that is even rarer, with only 5 cases, including the present case, reported in the literature. PLH lacks well-defined features and clinically can be mistaken with other lipomatous lesions of the pancreas, including lipoma, pancreatic lipomatosis, PEComa, liposarcoma, and malignant tumors with lipomatous components. Here, we describe a case of PLH in a 70-year-old male with abdominal pain and a lesion, which was preoperatively diagnosed as a pancreatic no functional low-grade neuroendocrine tumor, and subsequent underwent a laparoscopic enucleation of the tumor. The postoperative pathology and immunohistochemical analyses confirmed the diagnosis of PLH.

The characterization of the thermal insulation properties of construction materials represents a fundamental step on building insulation assessment. The present work aims to design and build a portable apparatus, namely, Portable LAMBDA UNI, capable of measuring the thermal conductivity of insulation materials. This portable apparatus is based on the standard ASTM C 518, which is a secondary method for measuring thermal conductivity. The apparatus also measures the effective thermal conductivity of square prism thermal insulation materials of 60 mm per side and a maximum thickness of 14 mm. The thermal conductivity of the drywall and adobe with Stipa ichu was measured with the Portable LAMBDA UNI, with the values being 0.265 W m-1 K-1and 0.357 W m-1 K-1, respectively. © 2021 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

INTRODUCCIÓN: La dehiscencia de la anastomosis pancreatoyeyunal es la complicación más temida de la pancreatoduodenectomía proximal (PDP) y puede ocacionar la muerte del paciente. TDs are defined as tumoral nodules in perigastric adipose tissue with no evidence of lymphatic, vascular, or neural structures. Clinicopathological factors related to the presence of TDs are not well defined. OBJECTIVE: The study aimed to describe and compare minimally invasive surgery (MIS) and open surgery for rectal cancer in Peru. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A retrospective single-center analysis was performed for all patients who underwent sphinctersparing surgery for non-metastatic rectal cancer at Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicas in Peru between January 2016 and December 2020.
