Objective: To adapt, validate and evaluate the factorial invariance of a scale that assess the quality of virtual courses (QVC) among health sciences students (HSS). Methods: Cross-sectional study developed with virtual surveys to HSS to assess the QVC of the 2020 academic year, as well as sociodemographic and educational characteristics. Content-based validity was estimated with VAiken. Validity based on internal structure was assessed with the Goodness of Fit Indices (GFI) in the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), considering adequate the comparative fit index (CFI) and the Tucker-Lewis index (TLI) greater than 0.90, as well as values of the standardized root mean square residual (SRMR) and root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) less than 0.08. Factor invariance was considered adequate when the ΔCFI ≤ 0.010 and the ΔRMSEA ≤ 0.015 between models at different levels. Reli...

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate sociodemographic inequities related to the coverage and compliance of the two-dose measles vaccination among Peruvian children in 2023. Materials and methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted using data from a Demographic and Health Survey. Mothers aged 15 to 49 with children aged 12 to 59 months were included. Sociodemographic and health characteristics of these mothers were evaluated for inequity analysis using the Concentration Index (CI). This analysis was used to evaluate inequity in vaccination for first and booster doses against measles, and it was complemented with the Erreygers Concentration Index (ECI) and its decomposition. Results: Sixteen thousand, five hundred and twenty-six Peruvian mothers with at least one child aged 12 to 59 months were evaluated. Vaccination coverage was 85.7% and 54.4% for the first and...

Objectives. To evaluate the differences in the perception of inequality in access to health care according to the ethnic group with which Peruvian adults identify. Material and Methods. Analytical cross-sectional study conducted with a secondary analysis of data from the I National Survey of Perception of Inequalities 2022. The dependent variable was the perception of inequality in the access to health and the independent variables were sociodemographic characteristics. Differences in the perception of inequality in the access to health care according to the ethnic group were evaluated with Poisson-type generalized linear models to estimate the crude and adjusted Prevalence Ratio (aPR) for the other variables. Results. Of the 1,530 respondents, 50.2% were female and the mean age was 40.0 years (95%CI: 39.23 - 40.73). For 71.8%, access to health was very unequal. And the prevalence of a p...

Objectives: To evaluate inequalities in the distribution of diagnostic tests for dengue in Peruvian provinces. Material and Methods: Ecological study of 108 provinces. Sociodemographic characteristics (sex, age group, education level, area of residence and ethnicity) were evaluated as sources of inequality using the Oaxaca-Blinder method in Sk, Gk and Rk by decomposing the GINI index. Results: The GINI index was 0.34.  In the decomposition, there were high values of Sk in the white or mestizo group (Sk=1.07) and the urban area (Sk=0.95), while there were high values of Gk in Quechua (Gk=0.62), Aymara (Gk=0.62) and Afro-Peruvian (Gk=0.44) groups with respect to the white or mestizo group (Gk=0.19). In addition, there were high Rk values in the aimara group (Rk=0.27) and with primary education (Rk=0.20). Conclusion: Ethnicity, area of residence and level of education were the main sources...

ABSTRACT The implementation of a vaccine against COVID-19 is one of the most important health strategies to mitigate the spread of the disease. The objective of this study was to estimate the prevalence of the intention to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and its predictors in older Peruvian adults. This is a cross-sectional study, where information was collected through an online survey regarding vaccination intention of the participants, as well as sociodemographic and psychological variables. A multiple regression analysis was applied to identify predictors of intention to be vaccinated against COVID-19. We evaluated 245 participants, who had a mean age of 72.74 years old (SD = 6.66). 65.5% of these older adults expressed a high likelihood of accepting vaccination, while 20.9% expressed a low likelihood of accepting vaccination, and 13.6% were hesitant. Eleven predictors were identifie...

Introduction: Only 3 types of coronavirus cause aggressive respiratory disease in humans (MERS-Cov, SARS-Cov-1, and SARS-Cov-2). It has been reported higher infection rates and severe manifestations (ICU admission, need for mechanical ventilation, and death) in patients with comorbidities such as diabetes mellitus (DM). For this reason, this study aimed to determine the prevalence of diabetes comorbidity and its associated unfavorable health outcomes in patients with acute respiratory syndromes for coronavirus disease according to virus types. Methods: Systematic review of literature in Pubmed/Medline, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane, and Scielo until April of 2020. We included cohort and cross-sectional studies with no restriction by language or geographical zone. The selection and extraction were undertaken by 2 reviewers, independently. The study quality was evaluated with Loney’s ...

The presence of a significant number of people who do not intend to be vaccinated could negatively impact efforts to control the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, this study sought to determine the prevalence of intention to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and associated sociodemographic and psychosocial factors in thirteen countries in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). A total of 5510 people from 13 LAC countries participated. Frequencies, percentages, bivariate analyses using chi-square tests, and Poisson regression analysis with robust variance were used. The countries with the highest prevalence of intention to be vaccinated were Brazil (96.94%), Cuba (89.59%), Chile (84.59%), and Mexico (78.33%). On the other hand, the countries with the lowest prevalence were El Salvador (54.01%), Paraguay (55.87%), and Uruguay (56.40%). Prevalence is also reported according to some sociodemographi...
