It is known that poverty and health is an interrelated phenomenon. The poorest countries have poor health indicators in relation to the countries with the highest incomes, and within each country the poorest people with health problems. This association reflects a causal relationship that works in both directions: poverty generates poor health, and poor health perpetuates poverty (vicious circle of poverty-disease) 1. However, it also means that people with problems of health do not have the same conditions as others, because these inequalities correspond to the limitations and opportunities different from each other and with others, and not with a tendency of sometimes different groups. ABSTRACT Introduction: The aims of this study were to assess Sleep disorders (SDs) in a group of university students in Perú and to examine the relationship between SDs and anxiety. Methods: An observational cross-sectional, analitic and observational study was conducted at Ricardo Palma University, Peru, during the academic year 2017. Two questionnaires were face-to-face administered to 132 students after obtaining their written consent: The Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), and the Oviedo dream sleep-wake patient questionnaire for DS. Results: The average age found was 24.07 + - 2.14 (20-34). According to marital status, 67.42% were single. The prevalence of insomnia according to ICD10 was 31.8% (95% CI: 7.8-13.4%) more frequent in female students (61.9%) than in men (38.9%); and according to DSM IV it was 3.8% (95% CI: 7.8-13.4%) more frequent in female students (80%) than in men (20%). ...

Medicine evolves by leaps and bounds and also make the most necessary specialties. A recently published article refers to the 5 new specialties in the USA. UU.: Immunooncology, Lifestyle Medicine, Nocturnists, Clinical Informatics and Virtualist Medicine. The current and future demand for these new specialties is increasing. Why Lifestyle Medicine has come to stay as an attractive new specialty of the present and the future? About 80% of health care costs are related to chronic diseases, and 80% of chronic diseases are related to lifestyle choices. This is a powerful argument for specialists in lifestyle medicine. The choice of a patient's food and diet, exercise, sleep, stress levels and the ability to relate to others are under the reach of a medical specialist in lifestyle medicine. Lifestyle Medicine deals with all aspects of a person's life. Primary care and family medicine ar...

One of the most important processes and of which all other university activities are sustained is research. Research is creation, original production, development of argumentation and coherence of ideas, exhaustive review-deep reflection, solving mysteries and, ultimately, giving focus to dreams. The integral conceptual approach, proposed by Rico1, for whom the research "is to colonize a small or large plot, to plant, cultivate, harvest and distribute its fruits, so that later others come to improve, optimize and overcome our task".

Introduction: The lymphocyte / monocyte index (ILM) has been described as an inflamatory prognostic parameter in many hematological diseases and solid tumors. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the prognostic value of the lymphocyte / monocyte index in the survival of patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (LCGBD). Methods: The present is an analytical, longitudinal and non-experimental study. Patients diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins hospital from 2010 to 2017 were selected. Results: 121 patients were included, 57% female, 66.1% older than 60 years. Regarding the Performance Status Zubrod, 66.5% corresponded to the degree of best forecast 0 and 1; 59.5% presented associated B symptoms. Nearly 60% were stages I and II and 57% presented extranodal involvement. We show that the ILM is significant for overall survival in the regre...

Intestinal Barrier and Intestinal Permeability The "Intestinal Barrier" (BI) covers an area of approximately 400 m2 and requires about 40% of theenergy expenditure of the body. Among its functions are to avoid the loss of water and electrolytes and the entry of antigens and microorganisms to the human organism1. At the same time, the BI must allow the exchange of molecules between the body and the environment, as well as the absorption of nutrients from food consumed. The specialized adaptations of the intestinal mucosa of the mammal perform two functions apparently opposite: first, allow a peaceful coexistence with the intestinal microbiota without cause chronic inflammation and, secondly, provide a defensive inflammatory and response measure according to the threat of pathogens DOI 10.25176/RFMH.v18.n4.1725
