As part of their social responsibility, universities have been implementing environmental education strategies in response to the environmental crisis. Therefore, the Faculty of Sociology of the National University of               the Center of Peru (UNCP, spanish acronym) implemented an environmental curriculum complemented by courses in ethics and philosophy. This study aims to measure the environmental beliefs of undergraduate students in order to evaluate the impact of the strategy employed. To this end, the New Ecological Paradigm scale (NEP) was applied to 214 students enrolled in all semesters during the 2017-2018 academic period. The results showed a greater predominance of ecocentric beliefs (=3.9± 0.72), which demonstrated that the approach being implemented by the faculty is strengthening the environmental awareness of its students. &nbs...

Las partículas atmosféricas (PM₁₀ y PM₂.₅) son responsables de serios problemas en la salud humana. Por ello, este estudio determina el aporte cuantitativo de las fuentes de ambos tipos de partículas en las principales ciudades del Valle del Mantaro, ubicadas en la parte central del Perú. Se analizan los datos obtenidos en la campaña de monitoreo mensual de los centros urbanos de Jauja, Concepción y Huancayo, desde julio de 2007 hasta octubre de 2008. Antarctica is a remote and relatively pristine region, but the regional transport of aerosols may be a source of pollution, especially in the Antarctic Peninsula. Few studies have characterized atmospheric aerosols and evaluated the contribution of their emission sources. The Peruvian Antarctic research station Machu Pichu (ECAMP, by its Spanish acronym) is located on King George Island in the Antarctic Peninsula. La zona alta y media de la cuenca del río Mantaro (ZAMCM) es un área clave en desarrollo económico porque se desarrollan diversas actividades antropogénicas cuyas emisiones de material particulado aún son desconocidos en todas sus características. El objetivo es evaluar las características integrales de las concentraciones, composición química elemental, fuentes y regiones generadoras del material particulado atmosférico del 2007 al 2017 con la finalidad de aportar con información a la gestión del estado del aire.             The effect of supplementation with mashua (Tropaeolum tuberosum) and tarwi (Lupinus mutabilis) meal on body weight gain (BWG), feed consumption, feed conversion index and nutritional composition of carcasses of Peru breed guinea pigs was evaluated. Peru. For the study, 32 4-week-old male guinea pigs (309-578 g) were randomly distributed in four treatments (T) for 40 days: T1 (integral concentrate - IC), T2 (CI + 18% tarwi), T3 (IC + 25 % mashua) and T4 (I C+ 25% mashua + 18% tarwi). Supplementation with tarwi meal (T2 and T4) improved BWG, while supplementation with mashua meal (T3) had a significant effect on carcass fat content (p<0.05). There was no effect on feed consumption and feed conversion.

La ciudad de Huancayo, ubicada en los Andes centrales del Perú, presenta problemas de calidad del aire, siendo el principal contaminante el material particulado (MP). Por ello, el objetivo del presente artículo fue caracterizar la composición química del MP atmosférico colectados en una estación ubicada en el centro urbano de Huancayo. Se colectó MP en agosto del 2007, y enero, abril y mayo del 2008 con un equipo de bajo volumen (PARTISOL FRM 2000) y filtros de 47 mm. Se determinó la concentración de partículas de tamaño hasta 10 μm (MP₁₀), partículas menores a 2,5 μm (MP₂,₅) y se analizó la composición química de hasta 38 elementos, mediante la técnica de fluorescencia de rayos X (XRF). Huancayo city, located at the Central Andes of Peru, presents air quality problems being the main pollutant the particulate matter (PM). For that reason, the objective of this paper was to characterize the chemical composition of atmospheric PM sampled in a station located in urban center of Huancayo city. It was sampled PM in august 2007, and January, April and May 2008 with a low volume sampler (Partisol FRM2000) and 47 mm filters. It was determined the concentration of particles smaller than 10 um, particles smaller than 2.5 um and it was analyzed the chemical composition up to 38 elements, using the X Rays Fluorescence (XRF) technique. Given the high costs of air quality monitoring network infrastructure and the need for more detailed information, the objective of the study is to evaluate the temporal variation and source zones of PM2.5 through the use of low-cost sensors installed at three sites in the city of Huancayo. PurpleAir PA-II model PMS5003 sensors were employed from August 2018 to June 2019. The dataset was subjected to statistical tests to evaluate temporal changes. Backtrajectories were calculated through the HYSPLIT model for source zone identification. The results show reasonable agreement with other reference monitoring. The purpose of this study was to determine PM₂.₅ mass concentration and the contents of trace elements and water-soluble ions in samples collected inside the Metropolitan area of Huancayo. Four monitoring stations were installed at three urban areas (UNCP, HYO, and CHI) and one rural (IGP). The sampling campaign was carried out from March 2017 to November 2017. The PM₂.₅ content was determined by gravimetric method, and fifteen trace elements (TE) and seven water-soluble ions were detected by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP–MS), and ion chromatography (IC), respectively.
