It is getting more frequent the deteriorated work rehab, the corrections of design flaws or poor constructive process. Because of this, it is required not only to rehabilitate but to rearrange the structures taking into consideration that that intervention have to fulfill the mechanic improvements. This research intents to make known the benefits that the reinforced polymer composite systems with carbon fiber give to improve the mechanical performance of structural concrete elements. The results of the resistance to the compression trials at 28 days of the unreinforced specimens was of 12 MPa, and with the incorporation of the reinforced polymer with carbon fiber (RPCF) at 100% it improves 2.67 times its resistance (32.04 MPa), while the reinforced specimens at 50%, improves 1.57 times its resistance (18.84 MPa). It can be concluded that the application of the RPCF, considerably increase...

The objective of this work is to provide a reliable numerical model using the finite element method (FEM) for the dynamic analysis of reinforced concrete (RC) structures. For this purpose, a computer program based on a strain-rate sensitive elasto-plastic theory is developed using 3D brick finite elements. The implicit Newmark scheme with predictor and corrector phases is used for time integration of the nonlinear system of equations. In addition, the steel reinforcement is considered to be smeared and perfectly adhered to concrete and represented by membrane finite elements. Two benchmark examples are analyzed with the present numerical model and results are compared with those obtained by other authors. The present numerical model is able to reproduce the path failure, collapse loads and failure mechanism within an acceptable level of accuracy.

The social, economic, and environmental consequences of the failure of an arch dam make it essential to evaluate its dynamic response to mitigate the risk of a disaster. Since the slenderness and flexibility of these dams tend to increase the fluid-structure interaction during an earthquake, this work compares the dynamic response of a hypothetical arch dam in the Marañón river, in northern Perú, for both full and empty-reservoir conditions. Three formulations were used to estimate the hydrodynamic pressures: Westergaard’s added mass, Eulerian and Lagrangian. The comparisons were performed for earthquakes of distinct seismogenic sources, previously matched to a uniform hazard spectrum with a return period of 10000 years. The finite element method was used to derive the seismic demands of the dam-reservoir-foundation system in COMSOL Multiphysics software, carrying out time-history a...

Analyzing the social practice of the different progressive Latin American governements which were a response to the different social practices of neoliberalism, we can affirm that, taking into account the temporal and structural imbalances, the they were supported by a new type of extractivist there was an increasepolicy involving the installation of enclaves. At the same time ws increase price of primary products that were sold to the central States. Both elements, which implied the strong inflow of foreign currency, allowed the construction of a new type of State that I define as a Neo-commitment State which maintained a type of, unequal and combined dependency relationship with the central countries. Through it, the progressive governments could build a new multiclass domination pact between organized workers in the trade unión centrals and capital through which the different request...

With our article FLEXIBLE COST STRUCTURES TO OVERCOME THE GLOBALIZATION AND COMPETITIVENESS IN THE COMPANIES, presented in the journal QUIPUKAMAYOC Nº 33 we began an investigation to propose a model that incorporates the increasingly used strategy to achieve cost competitiveness in the market. Companies, with the new model of competitiveness that demands flexible production processes, are implementing business strategies in order to SPEED UP, SIMPLYFY and SECURE processes. Service companies are part of this strategy, which they are transferred functions or activities carried out within companies. But as we discussed in this article, SERVICE or OUTSOURCING costs can no longer be treated inside the other indirect costs of production (ICP) so we are looking for the fourth element, as a proposal to manage costs more accurately. This time, we will analyze various service contracts to underst...

This paper initially describes aspects of the modeling of structures equipped with energy dissipators Shear Link Bozzo (SLB) and develops two iterative design procedures to select these devices. This methodology is applied to a precast 5-story reinforced concrete building. The SLB energy dissipation devices are initially stiff, but ductile with a range of yielding forces from 36 kN to 900 kN characterized by 52 + 52 standard devices. Moreover, these devices can be combined in parallel giving a very wide range of possibilities for selection and corresponding structural response. Therefore, to simplify its automatic selection, this article presents two procedures: (1) direct iteration and (2) inverse or fixed force iteration. Both procedures were implemented in an automatic application or “plugin” for the ETABS program that automates its selection for a specific structural system or ar...

The hip femoral stem is vital in ensuring patient support and mobility, and research into the femoral stem is critical for improving the durability and strength of orthopedic prostheses. Using the finite element method, this paper evaluates a femoral stem’s static, transient, and fatigue behaviors using three different materials: Ti-6Al-4V, CoCr alloy, and AISI 316L. ANSYS Mechanical software was used to perform the static analysis, evaluate deformations and stresses, and perform the transient analysis to simulate dynamic loading conditions. In addi-tion, a fatigue analysis was conducted to determine the resistance to repetitive load cycles. The results showed that the stresses and strains in the transient analysis were higher than in the static analysis because the transient analysis considers dynamic and time-varying loads. In addition, the Ti-6Al-4V material exhibits higher fatigue ...

ABSTRACT Althoughknowledgeofthemicrostructureoffoodofvegetaloriginhelpsustounderstand the behavior of food materials, the variability in the microstructural elements complicates this analysis. In this regard, the construction of learning models that represent the actual microstructures of the tissue is important to extract relevant information and advance in the comprehension of such behavior. Consequently, the objective of this research is to compare two machine learning techniques—Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Radial Basis Neural Networks (RBNN)— when used to enhance its microstructural analysis. Two main contributions can be highlighted from this research. First, a method is proposed to automatically analyze the microstructural elements of vegetal tissue; and second, a comparison was conducted to select a classifier to discriminate between tissue structures. For the com...

The structures laboratory is a crucial facility for supporting research development related to the construction industry. This kind of laboratory has several components, and one of its key components is the reaction wall. The reaction wall supports the execution of experimental tests on structural elements under specific configurations and loads. Constructing a reaction wall presents challenges due to the highest standards to be met. This research analyzes the construction process of a reaction wall at a private university in Peru. Initially, a schedule was proposed by a contractor. However, the client, knowing the complexity of such construction, asked to review the initial schedule to ensure that it would meet the constructability requirements under the integrated product-organization-process approach given by the virtual design and construction (VDC) methodology. The result of this st...

In any literary style or period, there are always common factors and contexts between poets and writers that make up the color and public space of that period. One of these contexts are elements and themes that are used in poetic images; Elements such as nature, ordinary and peripheral elements, literary subtleties in image making, etc. are the themes that can lead us to obvious differences between the illustrations of each period in each period and can finally be a basis for evaluation. The artistic and imaginative values and features of each period become and lead us to the important point that the image is a representation of sensory effect in language. This sensory effect also includes: the poet's thoughts, feelings and sensory experiences. The importance of illustration and illustration is such that, in the opinion of many, any change in the illustration of the world also leads to a...

This academic paper analyzes and underscores the importance of regulating the temporal element in contracts entered into for the execution of public-private partnership (PPP) projects. It further seeks to explain how this element is often shaped by extra-legal factors, emphasizing that the timeframes established for the duration of such collaborative contracts –and for their specific execution deadlines– must be grounded in reasonable and objective justifications. This is essential to prevent arbitrary practices in their definition and, above all, to avoid unintended consequences for the management of public infrastructure and its private financing. To this end, the author examines how this matter is regulated under Peruvian law, explores the underlying premises supporting the need to regulate time-related provisions in such public contracts, and finally describes the economic and fin...

We introduce a novel methodology for locally updating an existing 3D solid model of a complex monumental structure with the geometric information provided by a 3D mesh (point cloud) extracted from the digital survey of a specific sector of a monument. Solid models are fundamental for engineering analysis and conservation of monumental structures of the cultural heritage. Finite elements analysis (FEA), the most versatile and commonly used tool for the numerical simulation of the static and dynamic response of large structures, requires 3D solids which accurately represent the outside as well as the inside geometry and topology of the domain to be analyzed. However, the structural changes introduced during the lifetime of the monument and the damage caused by anthropogenic and natural factors contribute to producing complex geometrical configurations that may not be generated with the des...
