The cities of southern Peru can be understood as urban organisms shaped by the superimposition of historical, social, and territorial layers. This article offers a comparative analysis of the urban structure of Cusco, Arequipa, and Tacna through the typomorphological framework proposed by Gianfranco Caniggia and Gian Luigi Maffei, aiming to identify common patterns in their formative processes. The study applies a qualitative-comparative methodology based on the multiscalar typological process of anthropic space. Results indicate that the urban structure of these cities is influenced by territorial structuring elements, the functions of initial settlements, typical fabrics, and characteristic buildings. Specifically, Cusco presents a longitudinal structure, Arequipa an organic one, and Tacna a border-form structure. The research concludes that typomorphology is a key tool to interpret ur...

The investigation report presents/displays the process of construction of an instrument of measurement for the study of the organization like reality socially constructed, concretely the phases to identify, to isolate and to discriminate the indicators of the phenomenon that we have denominated organizational representation. The boundary of the potential indicators has been made using technical qualitative (documentary analysis, diagram of affinity, agreement interjudges -conceptual). The potential indicators belong to anyone of the seven following dimensions: organizational context, structure, processes, climate, culture, satisfaction, effectiveness. The isolation and discrimination of the indicators selected between the potentials have been made using technical quantitative statistics (descriptive analyses, multidimensional scaling, factorial analysis and reliability indices). 49 indic...

The present work adapted the seventh scale of Social Dominance in Argentina in its two versions: long (16 items) and short (eight items; Ho et al., 2015). The psychometric properties of the scale were studied and its factorial structure was evaluated. We analyzed differences in SDO as regards sex, age, socioeconomic self-positioning and political orientation. We worked with a convenience sample (n = 1573, short scale; n = 590, long scale) between 18 and 60 years. The scale shows evidence of reliability consistent with the theory. The factor analysis confirms the bifactorial structure of the scale, finding two dimensions: SDO-Dominance and SDO-E Egalitarianism. A positive correlation was found between right-wing political self-positioning and SDO.

This paper describes the results of a numerical study of a full-scale adobe building model tested on a shaking table. Material properties of adobe masonry were calibrated to represent the wall in-plane seismic behavior, based on a prior numerical analysis of an adobe wall carried out by the authors. The inelastic part of the constitutive model was represented by a softening curve in tension and by a hardening/softening behavior in compression; thus, the fracture energy is a key issue in the modeling process. A finite element model that relies on a homogenous continuum approach was developed in Abaqus/Explicit software. The damage evolution in the numerical simulation represented fairly well the experimental crack pattern, for in-plane and out-of-plane seismic effects. Overall, the calibrated material properties and the explicit solution scheme proved to be appropriate for simulating the ...

A non conventional purlin with triangular section and cross diagonals is proposed to be used in Steel Arch Structures. For this purpose a full scale arch of 7 meters span with 6 meters purlins, was built in order to perform a loading test under extreme gravity loads and monotonic test underlateral load. To prove the interaction between the supporting arch and the purlins, incremental gravity load was applied over each element. Elastic deflection of 0.007 m for 931 N/m load was found which is under the demand of AISC-LRFD (L/360). Maximum deflection of 0,013 m for 1470N/m load was found at the end of the test. To prove how effective is the bolt connection between the purlin and the arch, a full scale test under lateral monotonic load applied at one extreme was performed, to simulate the extreme wind load over the structure. A 2254 N load produces 0,05 m of lateral displacement on the syst...

The aim of this study was to provide psychometric evidence of the functioning of the De Jong Gierveld’s Loneliness Scale in university students from Argentina. An empirical instrumental research was conducted, in a sample of 307 university students, between 18 and 54 years old. The Spanish translation of the De Jong Gierveld’s Loneliness Scale and the Spanish translation for Argentina of the Patient's Health Questionnaire were administered. The results of the Confirmatory Factor Analysis suggested that this instrument should be considered bidimensional, with an equitable distribution of elements in each factor representing social and emotional loneliness, respectively. The factor loadings of the items were very good, indicating that the indicators are properly related to their respective dimensions. The internal consistency was optimal. These results show that the scale is homogeneou...

We sought to adapt to the Argentine context two scales that assess psychotherapeutic preferences: The Cooper-Norcross Preferences Inventory (C-NIP-v1.1) and the Questionnaire of Preferences and Experiences of Psychotherapy for the Patient (PEX-1). We administered both scales in a sample of N=600 people (non-probabilistic). We performed internal consistency, dimensional, and item level analyzes. The internal consistency coefficients were adequate for the total scale and, in general, for each dimension. The confirmatory factor analysis evidenced an adequate fit to the original structures. The performance of the items for the scale and its dimensions was acceptable with few exceptions. The psychometric properties of the C-NIP-v1.1 and the PEX-1 are suitable for their application in our context.

Workers’ job satisfaction benefits the organization, which constitutes a competitive advantage. This is why the Quality of Work Life (QoWL) study has gained relevance in recent years. For this reason, various scales have been developed to evaluate this organizational variable constantly. However, to date, there is no evidence in the scientific literature of a Spanish version that evaluates the validity and reliability of these scales in a Peruvian context. Thus, this study aimed to translate into Spanish and adapt and analyze the validity and reliability of a scale to assess the quality of work life in Peruvian teachers based on Walton’s model. For this purpose, 457 regular basic education teachers from a private educational network located in the three regions of Peru were surveyed. The analyses used the Structural Equation Model (SEM) with the AMOS 24 statistical software. Confirma...

Fuzzy logic provides a useful tool for dealing with decisions in which the phenomena are imprecise and vague. The application of non-parametric statistical analysis in the SERVQUAL model could be more meaningful in the presence of skewed distribution of customers’ scores. The current paper aims to construct a fuzzy SERVQUAL method for evaluating the service quality of banks in Malaysia for different market segments, namely conventional, Islamic and foreign banks. Further, a comparison of service quality gaps has been assessed with respect to demographic characteristics of the customers to answer a fundamental question “What do customers want from banking services and which elements of service quality is important for different customers?” The sample is made up of 766 bank customers, consisting of the customers from conventional, Islamic and foreign banks from different parts of Mal...

Introduction: In oral rehabilitation, the use of ceramic restorations is widely accepted due to its aesthetic capacity to mimic the naturalness of the dental tissue, provide longevity of the material, and present a greater marginal fit compared to crowns with a metal structure. Termination lines are biological preparations whose function is to minimize the cervical opening of the marginal seal. Consequently, analyzing the behavior of restorative materials under compressive forces decreases the risk of fracture and increases the success of the treatment. Objective: To compare the compressive stresses of lithium disilicate crowns with three different finishing lines. Methodology: In silico study of the simulation of a dental preparation on a lower right first molar with chamfer (0.6 mm), shoulder (0.5 mm) and deep chamfer (0.5 mm) finish lines. Using the SolidWorks®️ version 2017 softwa...

Green areas in urban districts are important elements for bird conservation. In this study, we estimated bird abundance within green areas in the urban district of San Cristobal de Las Casas, state of Chiapas, Mexico. We identified a total of 75 bird species in ten green areas of different sizes from February of 2016 through July of 2016. We related bird presence to environmental variables at two geographical scales (local and landscape). Nonparametric analyses were used to compare richness and abundance of birds between green areas and size categories. The percentage of vegetation area was the most important variable that positively correlated with species richness and abundance. However, negative correlations were found between species richness and abundance and the percentage coverage of canopy, buildings, pavement and sampled green areas. The spatial heterogeneity of vertical vegetat...

Currently, it is considered that seismic actions act independently in two or three main directions orthogonal to each other, applying them to the building, without this necessarily being valid. It is for such, that seismic analysis of buildings should consider the bidirectional effects that seismic actions have, being possible if an angle of real incidence of each seismic action was considered, to estimate the maximum effects of the structural elements. These effects will be analyzed by using the linear time-history analysis of 11 structures with different rigidities and eccentricities in both directions, using angles of incidence every 10° and 20 Peruvian seismic records between very rigid, intermediate and soft soils obtained from data base of CISMID and IGP. Afterwards, a non-linear time-history analysis will be carried out, which will be applied to one of the 11 structures and use a...
