Arsenic contamination in water represents a serious public health issue worldwide, particularly in regions where natural or anthropogenic sources contribute to concentrations exceeding the maximum permissible limit of 0.01 mg/L established by the World Health Organization. This study evaluated the efficiency of a ceramic matrix made from red clay impregnated with ferric oxide (Fe₂O₃) for arsenic removal and water quality improvement. Water samples were collected from the Apacheta River and treated using a continuous-flow system with supports calcined at 800 °C. Arsenic concentrations were determined by spectrophotometry, and physicochemical parameters were analyzed before and after treatment. The results showed a reduction in arsenic concentration from 0.17 mg/L to 0.0053 mg/L, achieving a removal efficiency of 94.5 %, along with improvements in turbidity, electrical conductivity, a...

Teleosemantic is the theory that proposes an explanation of mental representation on the basis of the Darwinian theory of biological function. Although Darwin explains biological traits for both historical and adaptationist causes, Papineau and other proponents of teleosemantic rely only on the adaptationist dimension of the theory to account for the identity of the biological trait. This is shown in the teleosemantic response to the possibility that an exact duplicate of a human arose from non-evolutionary causes (the swampman). Clarifying the question about the homological nature of the trait identity is central to addressing the swampman argument. This argument has been renewed in the form of an empirical counterexample: the existence of functional tetrachromacy, a condition that would constitute a real case of mental representation that is not the result of a selection process. I wil...

Childhood malnutrition and anemia constitute a serious public health problem, driving the search for foods enriched with protein and vitamin supplements to help reduce this issue. In this context, the present research was developed with the objective of creating a protein rich, probiotic, and energy boosting becerage based on mango (Mangifera indica), whey, and Lactobacillus casei. Five treatments were formulated with different proportions of mango pulp and whey (T1: 90/10, T2: 70/30, T3: 50/50, T4: 30/70, and T5: 10/90, with two replicates per treatment. The bererages were inoculated with L. casei, and the pH was monitored every 48 hours for 14 days. Aprogessive decrease in pH from 5.0 - 6.0 to aproximately 4.0 was observed, demonstrating the viability and stability of the probiotic during storage. Regarding protein composition, treatment T5 reached 4.92 g/100 ml of protein, while treat...

Evolutionary Psychology (EP) supports the hypothesis of massive modularity (HMM), in which the mind is understood as a set of modules that fulfill a specific function to solve recurrent adaptive problems in our evolutionary adaptation environment. This set would be part of human nature and the objective of EP is to identify and explain them in distal terms. Its detractors argue that the modular conception is inconsistent with current theoretical and empirical knowledge. From the works of Carruthers and Crawford, I will defend that several of the criticisms against HMM assume the modular conception of Fodor (F-modules), who emphasizes the intentional aspect. However, EP highlights biological functionality, conceives modules as adaptive traits that evolve due to their effects on differential reproduction; that is, Darwinian modules (D-modules) and understands them as specialized informatio...

In the recent years, systemic or normative functionalism has been set up and spread out in the Peruvian Criminal Law scholar doctrine and case law, in a clear, precise and coherent manner providing solutions to concrete problems which were previously left behind to be answered by the naturalist, ontologist and teleologist scholar doctrines. Thus, by having an advanced functionalism approach, we explain the previous evolution and stand assumed by the great master of Bonn, Günther Jakobs, who sets out the functional relation between society and the criminal-juridical dogmatics, which must be re-based with a view to safeguard the social and state system through the maintenance of the criminal law stability to guarantee the citizen’s minimum expectations regarding proper functioning of social life.

Dyslexia is a disorder in the written use of language due to visuospatial weakness in the perception of linguistic forms. This paper postulates that a possible functional characterization of the deficits of a linguistic nature in patient speakers who present dyslexia when a full acquisition of reading and writing is not yet assumed will favor both the diagnosis and the intervention proposal. To demonstrate this hypothesis, we study the case of two twin patient-speakers who share the diagnosis of dyslexia, with the aim of checking the genetic-hereditary nature of the pathology and proposing specific therapies based on linguistic functional analysis. We thus present the theoretical framework that allows the historical knowledge and definitions offered on this disorder, the difficulties involved in its etiology, and the different models of intervention that currently exist to alleviate it. ...

Peru is one of the countries most exposed to catastrophic events worldwide such as: floods, debris flow, tsunamis, earthquakes. Particularly, earthquakes are generated by the interaction of the Nazca and South American plates known as the subduction process and shallow faults. Likewise, another major problem that Peru is going through is informality in construction, which, added to a large earthquake, could bring with it great economic losses and human lives. Therefore, these problems have motivated the development of this research, which aims to evaluate the seismic risk of buildings in the district of Ayacucho - Peru. In this sense, the probabilistic seismic threat is evaluated using the R-CRISIS program, accompanied by geophysical studies such as MASW (Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves) that allow the soil to be characterized based on shear wave velocities. Furthermore, the seism...

The purpose of the present paper is to improve the global convergence results established so far concerning the Augmented Lagrangian Algorithm with exponential penalty function for solving nonlinear programming problems with equality and inequality constraints. We prove global convergence for KKT points under the PAKKT-regular constraint qualifications, which results as a consequence that accumulation points generated by the algorithm are PAKKT points. This convergence result is new for the augmented Lagrangian Method based on the exponential penalty function. An interesting consequence is that the estimates of the Lagrange multipliers computed by the method remain bounded in the presence of the quasi-normality condition. Finally we give optimality and feasibility results for the convex case.

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a widely used material in container manufacturing, particularly in bottle production. It is characterized by its low cost and widespread availability. However, its improper disposal has significantly exacerbated global plastic pollution. For instance, less than 50% of plastic bottles are recycled. Moreover, studies indicate that this issue has led to a significant accumulation of plastic waste in the oceans, which continues to grow annually and could be considered floating islands of debris. This study proposes replacing PET with polylactic acid (PLA), a biodegradable and biocompatible polymer with suitable properties for bottle production. PLA also has a shorter decomposition time compared to PET, contributing to the reduction of carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions. The research methodology included a diagnostic phase to define objectives, i...

The most controversial institution incorporated into the Criminal Procedure Code of 2004 was the sentence of the acquitted, which is the power that the Superior Criminal Chamber has, when resolving the appeal that may have been filed against a previous acquittal sentence issued in favor of the accused (first instance), in being able to amend it in a conviction against this same procedural subject (second instance), sentencing decision that originally could only be questioned by means of the appeal of cassation. However, the national legislator, through Law No. 31592 of October 26th 2022, has decided to briefly reform this adjective norm, where the legal novelty is that this convicted person has the possibility of challenging his sentence via a new appeal, in which the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court is enabled to act as a judicial instance, this according to the exclusive rules of ...

Interpersonal partner violence (IPV) is a worldwide public health problem. As a result of IPV, victims report high rates of physical and behavioral disabilities. Help-seeking behaviors are key to obtaining support on facing and managing IPV. Cultural practices such as machismo, marianismo, and familismo are related to keeping quiet and remaining in an abusive relationship in Latinas. Difficulties in sharing emotions, setting interpersonal boundaries, and communicating needs are also behavioral barriers to seeking help in this population. All these factors are associated with social disconnection which reduces victims’ chances of obtaining support in risky situations. Although several programs have been developed for helping victims of IPV, more evidence on adaptions to particular cultural and interpersonal struggles faced by Latinas’ victims is needed. Functional Analytic Psychothera...

In order to determine whether family functioning predicts the level of resilience in parents facing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, a predictive and cross-sectional study was conducted on a sample of 183 parents from the department of La Libertad, who were selected under a non-probabilistic purposive sampling. Two instruments were used to collect data: Cohesion and Family Adaptability Evaluation Scale (CESF) and the Brief Resilient Coping Scale (BRC). Based on a linear regression analysis, an adequate model fit is observed (F-test = 35.924, p < .001), where, family functioning (β = .407, p < .05) is a variable that significantly predicts resilience (adjusted R2 = .161). Also, the t-values of the beta regression coefficients of the predictor variable are highly significant (p < .01). In conclusion, the level of family functioning predicts the degree of resilient coping in p...

This article is devoted to the analysis of problems regarding the main approaches to understanding the effectiveness of legal regulation and the search for its criteria. It is known that this issue serves as the basis for ongoing social development, ensuring optimal law-making and law enforcement activities of state bodies, achieving the goals of the procedural and legal regulation, consisting in ensuring, within certain stages of the legal and reasonable consideration and resolution of legal cases, the adoption of appropriate procedural decisions in the interests of subjects of law. The effectiveness of legal regulation is determined by a kind of evaluation category, the essence of which is to determine the level of functionality and effectiveness of this process in its dynamics. As criteria for the effectiveness of procedural and legal regulation are called effectiveness, achievement o...
