This article aims to specify a coherent and useful interpretation of feminicide behavior (or as preferred by the author “femicide”), which is included, in a non -uniform manner- in several criminal definitions in Latin American legislations. Indeed, the author asserts the need for an individualized criminal protection of women against gender violence, and confirms the praiseworthy work it is being done in Latin America, yet femicide as a criminal offense in the region is not defined accurately. Thus, the author concludes this is the reflection of a criminal policy that suffers from inaccuracies, duplicities and, in some cases, excessive punitiveness. The author questions the criminal definition of femicide as the death of a “woman because of her condition as such” or other similar definitions that include the murder of a woman because of the mere fact of being a woman....

La presente es una investigación descriptiva, que tiene como objetivo general identificar las aspiraciones y expectativas de las mujeres jóvenes adultas, de 18 a 24 años, estudiantes de educación superior de Lima Metropolitana. La investigación tiene un enfoque cualitativo, utilizando el método de estudio de caso, con una muestra de 28 mujeres jóvenes adultas. Las técnicas utilizadas para recopilar información han sido: (a) entrevista en profundidad, (b) observación y (c) notas de campo. Los resultados indican que las mujeres jóvenes de Lima estudiantes universitarias no han sido afectadas por estereotipos de género para la elección de su carrera, ya que algunas estudian psicología y otras economía, derecho o incluso ingeniería. The object of this research work is one of the three great traditional genres of Japanese theatre, the Bunraku puppet theatre. Throughout this research, it is presented how and where the puppet theatre emerged in Japan, and the reasons why its structure changed substantially in the 18th century are observed. The circumstances surrounding the change of the name of this theatrical genre in the 19th century are also analyzed. As among scholars this theatrical genre is considered one of the sources of the Kabuki theatre, in this article the parallel development during the 17th and 18th centuries of the Bunraku puppet theatre and the Kabuki theatre, in which human performers are involved, is observed. Why and how do societies transform the environmental rules of economic development, or fail to do so? This article compares the experiences of Chile and Peru in the regulation of smelting activities between 1990 and 2010. Air pollution from smelters in Chuquicamata and La Oroya, each emblematic of the two countries’ mining industries, did not give rise to nationally destabilising protest. Nevertheless, despite the absence of pressing discontent with pollution, the environmental rules for mining could still be improved as a result of policy network activism and through highly idiosyncratic institutional channels. The recent advent RNA sequencing technology (RNA-Seq), a massively parallel sequencing method for transcriptome analysis, provides an opportunity to understand the expression profile of plants in response to biotic and abiotic stress. In this study, the mRNA was sequencing from leaves and roots of two native potato varieties at different levels of drought. Fifty-base-pair reads from whole mRNAs were mapped to the potato genomic sequence: 75 – 82% mapped uniquely to the genome, 6 – 14% mapped to several locations in the genome and 9 – 12% had no match in the genome. Comparing expression profiles, 887 to 1925 genes were found to be induced/repressed by drought in the sensible variety and 998 to 1995 in the tolerant. This research provides valuable information for future studies and deeper understanding of the molecular mechanism of drought resistance in potato and related species.

This article identifies and compares the cohesion resources, from Beaugrande & Dressler's theoretical proposal, in five journalistic texts about the death of the terrorist leader of the Shining Path, Abimael Guzmán. The analysis of these linguistic mechanisms (repetition, partial repetition, paraphrase, parallelism, ellipsis, proforma, verb tenses and connections) was applied to a report, a chronicle, an opinion column, an editorial and a news item, texts published in the Peruvian newspaper El Comercio. This study concludes that the use of cohesive mechanisms can be explained, to a certain extent, in the communicative intentionality and style of the journalistic genres.
