Perú is considered a Megadiverse Country, because it has: 70% of the planet's biodiversity. It is estimated that it has 25,000 species of plants (10% of the world total), where we have the first place in potato varieties (3000 var.), Corn (55 breeds), tomato (15 wild species and 2 domesticated), peppers, Andean grains (quinoa, kiwicha, cañigua), tropical fruits, etc .; likewise a varied geography, soil science, geology, ecology, which in turn determines a broad biogeographical division, many ecological zones, great diversity of habitats, rich diversity of plants and animals with a high percentage of endemic flora and fauna; distributed with 8 Natural Regions: Costa or Chala, Yunga, Quechua, Suni or Jalca, Puna, Janca or Cordillera, Rupa Rupa or Selva Alta and Omagua or Selva Baja, with 84 of the 117 LIFE ZONES of the world (71.8% of the total world). We must also consider that 40% ...

Nowadays the export market is headed by commercial species such as: "grape", "mango", "pineapple", "avocado", "blueberry", among others; most of them, species introduced and adapted to our climates; which brings high production costs, leaving aside our native fruit trees, many of which grow as weeds, adapted to the environment, and have organoleptic and nutritional characteristics over commercial ones; being just waiting for its production on a large scale, so it is urgent to start with basic works such as the germinative characteristics and from there to encourage further research. For this reason, it was decided to determine the Germination Characteristics of Colicodendron scabridum (Kunth) Seem. as a promising resource for the Peruvian population's diet. For this purpose, collections of the species to be studied were carried out, to later identify it in the Herbarium Truxillensis (HUT) ...

Recent research supports the fact that many of the dye-type food additives used in the food industry, far from satisfying the organoleptic requirements of the population; greatly reduce the health of those who consume it; such is the case of red 40 widely used in Peru. Based on what has been described, this research focused on determining the cytotoxic effect of red food dye 40 in Artemia salina nauplii. For this, a nauplos incubation system was installed, to then be exposed to different concentrations of the dye under study, forming the treatments: T0: 0.00 (mg / L), T1: 3.125 mg / L, T2: 15.625 mg / L and T3: 31.25 mg / L and finally measure their morta- lity after 48 hours. The results showed that T0 had a 0% lethality, T1 had a 60% lethality, T2 a 100% lethality and T3 a 100% lethality. It is concluded that the red food dye 40 presented a cytotoxic effect and hyperactivity in locomot...

The demographic expansion worldwide, and in Peru, particularly brings with it a number of problems, highlighting among them, those related to health; being this, a fundamental pillar for the progress and development of the peoples; for this reason, the present investigation focused on determining the medicinal use value of the flora used by the inhabitants of the Víctor Larco district, Trujillo, La Libertad, Peru. A total of 96 semi-structured interviews were applied to the residents of the mentioned district, in order to obtain Information regarding the common name, part used, type of preparation, method of application, medicinal uses, as well as the in- dex of use value (IVU). In parallel, the specimens reported by the population were collected, dried, assembled, labeled and taxonomically determined. 50 species of plants for ethnome- dical use in the district are reported; Distributed...

It is indisputable, the role that flora and particularly medicinal plants play in improving the quality of life of the world population. In Peru, knowledge about plants and their applications has been transmitted throughout history and today constitutes a legacy inherited by the Andean-Amazon communities, which are possessors of an exceptional, unique and promising flora; and unfortu- nately these traditions are gradually being lost, especially due to demographic expansion. Based on what has been described, this research aims to determine the importance of the promising medicinal flora of Jesus, Cajamarca, Peru. For this, 96 semi-structured interviews were applied, using the “snowball” technique, in order to collect data regarding taxonomic characters: family, scientific and common name, as well as ethnomedical characters: part used, type of preparation, method of administration, tre...
