In this research work, shell deformations generated by surface forces acting on the shell are described and simulated. The Naghdi and Koiter models are used to describe shell deformations. A weak formulation for the model is obtained, and some results on the existence of solutions are presented. The finite element method is then used to obtain the deformations. In addition, simulations of shell deformations are shown for the case of sectional curvature k = 0.

We study a system formed by M dimers through half-filled two-site Hubbard model, with two electrons. Our approach use the third version of Nonextensive Statistical Mechanics as tool for calculating thermodynamic and magnetic parameters such as entropy, internal energy, magnetization and specific heat. In the computer simulations, we vary the q entropic index values between 1 and 2, such that, q = 1.0, 1.4, 1.7 and 2.0. These values are interesting to study small magnetic systems. We find the critical temperature regions in simulations with the simple Hubbard model, i.e. without the intersite interaction. For other side, adding this additional term, we notice an enlargement and shifting of the thermodynamic parameters comparing with the obtained from simple Hubbard model; even more, we found in some cases the absence of the critical temperature regions.

The simulation model is a useful assessment tool to analyze in depth evaluation of investment projects, improving investor decision making. Contributes to investigate new project ideas and help identify investment opportunities aimed at the reformulation of projects, adapting to the attitudes and investor requirements. An alternative choice is the mathematics expectation that is used in the calculation of probabilities that an event occurs. The fact that a good estimate of the elements involved in the calculation of profitability is not conducted, can lead to invalidate the analysis, and therefore, can lead to approve unprofitable projects and vice versa. When is known the probability of an event occurring certain number of years, usually applies a certain percentage during that period. For example, if the probability of an event occurring is 20 years, a rate of 5% per annum will apply.

Systems dynamics, discrete event simulation, and agent-based simulation are three widely used forms of modeling for business decision making. These paradigms are focused on representing the behavior of systems over time, although in different perspectives. This paper compares the three paradigms in 10 aspects and it can serve as an indicator to choose the most appropriate technique to a required problem.

The principles of this paper are about the problematic that many organizations have, in order to face unexpected events that were never experimented. Furthermore, how severe those events could be for the business continuity. Thus, this study searches for the relation between three concepts: Crisis Management, Live Simulation and Knowledge Management. For those reasons, it purposes to set a group of members from each organization into an experimental scenario that simulates an enterprise in crisis. The idea after the experiment is to accept or reject the usefulness of the simulation as a tool for Crisis Management, likewise, as a dynamic way to share and create knowledge. In order to firm the mission, several theories and assertions are presented -from different authors- in relation to concepts such as, human apprenticeship, crisis, crisis management, simulation, knowledge management and ...

Currently there is a wide range of software to simulate robotic cell and interact with a process. This article details the procedure to simulate and program a robotic system of classification of items using the software Cosimir Educational. The project includes a window model, positions and programming. Programming is performed using the language Mitsubishi Robot Language (MRL), which is simple but with enough capacity to perform tasks with the robot. This language has commands for movement control, counters, timers, subroutines, loops and incorporates input and output signals.

This research project modeled and simulated a ventilation system at a Mining Concession, obtaining real-time information regarding the fans used to ventilate the mine. The simulation was developed using the VENTSIM 5 software, which also helped define the number of fans and the operating parameters required, field information, mine dimensions, the mining method, production, geothermal gradient, gas emission, air stream, and air pressure. In addition, the results from software operation revealed the need to open chimneys and use fans. Furthermore, the results also suggest that a specialist dedicated to ventilation and fan maintenance must be hired to formalize mining operations as per the Occupational Safety and Health Mining Regulations from Executive Action No. 024-2016-EM as this Mining Concession is currently operating without license.

On 23 June 2001, at 15:33 local time, the Camana city and all the Peruvian southern region were hit by a strong earthquake of magnitude 8.4 Mw and maximal intensity VIII in Mercalli scale. The epicenter was located on the sea in the forefront of Ocoña (Arequipa). Fifteen minutes later, a localized tsunami was generated, which destroyed the seaside town of Camana and caused the death of 24 people an 62 missing people. This event is the objet study through numerical simulations implementing the TIME model for tsunamis, the results obtained are the arrival time, the run up (maximal height of flooding), synthetic tidal gage recording and flooding maps, which will

Transfer of energy from large to small scales in turbulent flows is described as a flux of energy from small wave numbers to large wave numbers in the spectral representation of the Navier-Stokes equation. The problem of resolving the relevant scales in the flow corresponds in the spectral representation to determining the spectral truncation at large wave numbers. The effective number of degrees of freedom in the flow depends on the Reynolds number and a numerical simulation of the Navier Stokes equation for high Reynolds numbers is impractical without some sort of reduction of the number of degrees of freedom. The shell models are constructed to obey the same conservation laws and symmetries as the Navier Stokes equation as an alternative. In this work we present the Sabra shell model for the study of the energy cascade of turbulence and we will show numerically that the energy dissipa...

Studies of urban transport networks in many cities are not well focused, since they do not include tools for their planning and control, making decisions to solve the multiple problems regarding traffic congestion expensive and not adequate, generating discomfort in the users, and many times it aggravates the problems, since its impact is not evaluated. Currently exist a variety of simulators that are helpful for traffic simulation and online monitoring. An alternative to this are traffic simulators, which currently exist in variety, however, they are not easily accessible, a formal study and a relationship with the research center that provides it is required, their personalized reports are limited and they comply to another reality. In the present work, six frequent cases of urban transport networks in Lima are modeled, simulated and validated: intersection, oval, union, by-pass, clove...

This paper presents an investigation of the extraction of essential oils by steam distillation. The process is analyzed and a model is developed for the extraction of essential oil of eucalyptus in pilot scale with a steam flow of 5.73 g / min. According to the model Dunckhorst-Houghton, which considers the effect of axial dispersion, and the use of optimization procedures to establish the model parameters, excellent agreement was obtained between the amount of oil extracted theoretical and experimental.

Over the last years, using phenomena models in interpreting and designing of software in metallurgical processes has been increasing. In this present research, a series of experimental test with polymetallic minerals is shown, which have been submitted to Flotation, Filtration, Leaching and Sedimentation processes. Mathematic modelling of such processes is shown, as well as the processing and simulation of the experimental data through the respective models. It is intended to contrast them with data from metallurgical plants for their respective validations. All these results will be used for a better planning and control of industrial variables in a concentrating plant.

This paper considers the proposal, development and numerical simulation of a system that models the behavior of the treatment of HIV-1 using antiretrovirals. The system defined for three dependent variables of the variable t, denoted by X(t)=(x1 (t), x2 (t), x3 (t)) represent the amount of T Lymphocytes "Helpers" (CD4), number of Cytotoxic T Lymphocytes (CD8) Viral load and infection process of HIV-1 at any time t, respectively. The assembly consists of a Nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equations system whose existential domain represents time system evaluation process of infection and viral clearance in a patient with HIV-1. This set of states of Nonlinear Dynamic System, associated with the initial value condition is called Cauchy problem. There are few studies related to the solution of this system, found some of the study are reduced to two variables and others without obtaining the ...
