Transferring commuters on Atocongo (Lima, Perú), between Linea Amarilla (buses) and Line 1 of the Lima Metro (subway) shows various challenges. Commuters have to board the buses on the street, after crossing crowded roads, there are also interruptions like street vendors, crowded sidewalks, and lack of traffic signals at crosswalks. The transfer time is not optimized and the actios is not safe for commuters. This research proposes a multimodal interconnection that reduces transfer time and leads users directly between both transportation systems, on both routes: From Santiago de Surco (SS) and San Juan de Miraflores (SJM). The transfer time was obtained (current situation) and a model was developed with the interconnection infrastructure of both transport systems (proposed situation). From the comparison of both situations, it was obtained that the times were reduced, for the route from...

This investigation allowed to evaluate the results of risk management in a mining operation. This highlights the importance of adopting preventive measures to control the causes of accidents. To this end, a methodology is developed that allows identifying and giving maximum attention to the existing critical risks, determined from evaluating and analyzing the information provided in the Accident Investigation Reports. Thus, the predominant work characteristics are recognized in the occurrence of accidents, to systematically address them and avoid the damage they generate. This methodology uses the Pareto Principle, to find in a practical way, those few characteristics of the work that still influence the accident rate, in which we must focus our management as a priority. It also allows identifying the ‘target audience’ that is the most affected by the damage. All this properly manage...

The present study has as aim demonstrate that the high existing levels of environmental noise in the main tenance work shops, can affect the health of the exposed workers in different ways. Nowadays the professional deafnesses admit that they are more for the effects of the labor noise on the persons (effects happened by the reaction of stress, interference with the communication, interference with the mental and psychomotor activities, subjective in convenience). In particular, the exhibition to sonorous high levels can cause a momentary loss of the auditory capacity (temporary displacement of the auditory threshold). We also know that a sound of great intensity can produce a break of the tympanic membrane; this traumatic effect has been observed for sounds by levels superior to 150 decibels (for example, in persons exposed to explosions or shots of fire guns). However, the most habitua...

Small and medium-sized companies in the textile sector have deficiencies in the production area. It happened because they do not have a standardized process and adequate machine maintenance management. For this reason, analyzing the initial diagnosis of an SME company dedicated to textile printing presented problems in design and printing. Based on this, this research developed a proposed model to reduce the return rate, improve work areas' organization, and optimize delivery times. The production model is developed based on the Lean BPM (Business Process Management) and TPM (Total Productive Management) tools through a 5s continuous improvement approach. The improvement proposal is validated in the Arena 14 software, reducing the failure rate of the machines and the rate of returns from 7.95% to 5.97%

The Peruvian manufacturing industry is one of high impact in Latin America with excellent quality materials and massive productive quantities making it an important industry for the country itself. Even so, with this sector being so significant, the prevalence rate of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) remains high for companies with little capital and no investment capacity, such being the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) of the industry. Either due to mishandling of machinery or repetitiveness of labor, musculoskeletal disorders are a prevalent problem for manufacturing industries with little to no information on ergonomic ways of control as well as having a Lean focus to add value to the process. This paper seeks to find the validity of a model to reduce absenteeism and exposure to musculoskeletal disorders using ergonomic and Lean tools to promote safe practices and the preser...

A reduced gravity non-linear model is proposed to describe the hydrodynamic behaviour and thermodynamic of a coastal systems including areas with shallow depths. The model is approached using a finite difference formulation in a domain with open boundary conditions describing the behaviour of a surface layer on an inert substrate layer conserving in this way the low frequency dynamic. The Pisco and Paracas bays is the study area which is characterized by the presence of hydrodynamic convergences and divergences producing changes in the temperature field of the region. First, numerical experiments are developed for permanent cases considering representative winds distributions. Later, a non-permanent case is simulated and the time dependent model solutions are compared with spatial observations.

The foam furniture paint industry, belonging to the manufacturing sector, has experienced a decline in recent years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This situation has negatively impacted production capacity and has generated significant challenges. Among them, reprocessing has occurred due to undesired tones in the paints, the presence of residues in the machines, as well as errors in machinery programming and delays in the start of production. These factors have hindered the manufacturing sector from reaching its pre-crisis economic level. Consequently, delays in the delivery of the final product arise, leading to economic losses for the companies, which hinder their development. To address these issues and thereby reduce product delivery times, the production improvement model based on Lean Manufacturing tools is proposed. The model consists of tools such as 5S, Poka-Yoke, and standardiz...

The impact of non-quality costs generated by poor management of quality standards compliance is analysed. The objective is to determine the influence of a mana- gement model based on the Lean Six Sigma methodology in reducing these costs. The most modern converter line in technology and with a higher production capacity was selected as the unit of analysis, applying the phases of the DMAIC cycle: define, measure, analyse, improve and control. As a result, the cost of non-quality was reduced by 40 % equivalent to S/.901 236; the indicator of defective products decreased from 3,58 % to 2,11 % and the sigma level increased from 3,38 to 4,24. The limitation was disclosure of costs broken down by confidentiality; however, the findings have practical implications for other industries seeking to reduce their non-quality costs through Lean Methodologies.

The construction sector is an important driver of the economy and a generator of employment, but it has high occupational accident rates each year. In Peru, small construction companies lack an occupational health and safety management system, which is reflected in the number of accidents reported each year, which is as high as 3,000. Therefore, it is important to look after the welfare of the most valuable asset of each company: the worker. This paper presents a proposal for a safety model based on Lean tools: 5S and TPM, and work standardization to reduce the accident rate in a Peruvian construction SME. The proposed model is divided into three components that represent the application of each of the tools. It also consists of four phases and a duration of two months divided into four fortnights. Finally, the results obtained were favorable, reducing the accident rate by 75% with respe...
