This descriptive research examines the performance on reading comprehension of four gifted adolescents participating in a reading enrichment program. This performance is related to the variables associated to the gifted performance following the model developed by Mönks: motivation, creativity, high ability, school, peers and family. Results showed that school does not satisfy the cognitive needs of these students and it does not offer the required social support either. The family provides the main social support. The motivation, creativity, the high level of language and concentration of the participants facilitate learning. The reading program is described by the participants as motivating due to the subject-matters and methodology; furthermore, due to the opportunity to deal with peers who have a similar cognitive level.

This article presents the results of an investigation that tests an alternative program to improve reading comprehension, the direct instruction of reading strategies, the use of different types of texts, and where the teacher cedes control of the process were taken as guidelines reader to student gradually. The research was of an applied type, with a quasi-experimental design, working with 44 second-grade high school students from public educational institutions, to measure the study variable of applying the Demonstrating what we learned-Reading test developed by the UMC. The results show us a significant difference between the control and experimental group, proving its effectiveness in increasing the level of reading comprehension and in the development of their abilities.

The objective was to design a program of reading strategies to develop critical and creative thinking (PCC) in the students of the VI cycle of the educational institution Diego Ferré Sosa de Monsefú. The research was of a primary propositional type, in which 137 students participated, who were administered a questionnaire on the development of critical and creative thinking, elaborated separately for every kind of thought and covering the dimensions of each one of them. The instruments were duly validated and with a reliability coefficient of 0.80. We report the results of an experimental study with two randomized groups pre and post-test, which seeks to determine the effects of the implementation of an interactive program on the reading comprehension of children in 5th grade in a rural area of the province of Yungay in the Department of Ancash. The analysis of data collected through the Reading Comprehension Test of Linguistic Complexity Progressive (CLP) Alliende, adapted by Delgado and processed with SPSS v. 18, to conclude that the interactive reader used in the experimental group shows a significant increase in reading comprehension scores compared with those obtained by the control group.

The investigation shows the results founded in the field of Reading Comprehension. Starting from the theoretic model of cognitive psychology and psycholinguistics, and in particular the theory of Van Dijk and Kintsch (1983, 1993, 1994). The author explores the problematic of comprehensive reading in a group of children and teenagers with learning disabilities in the province of Callao, trying to know how much can they could intervening in the improvement of their reading weakness, for what we have design and application and an Experimental Program of Treatment. The most important idea of the study was the significant difference in reading comprehension levels reached in the pre test and in the post test, by the group I students after applying the experimental program, and as an important improvement in the student group II.

ABSTRACT The effect of a program to improve reading speed and comprehension was assessed in students from a private peruvian university, for which a quasi-experimental design of longitudinal pretest-postest type was developed and using a protocol based on a methodology of reading program fast, study and memory, was selected for a total sample of 1181 college freshmen from Universidad Privada del Norte (UPN) who were studying on the 2014-II academic semester. Results show a statistically significant increase on reading speed, but not in reading comprehension; furthermore, the practical effect of the program is moderate. It is concluded that the program had a positive moderate effect on reading speed; however, it was not an effective proposal to improve reading comprehension.

El presente estudio surgió con el objetivo de establecer la influencia del Programa de lectura interactivas en el desarrollo de los niveles de comprensión lectora de los estudiantes del Cuarto Grado “C” de la I.E. N° 10126 “Nuestra Señora de Fátima” - Jayanca, en el 2019. Para ello, se aplicó una metodología enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo cuasiexperimental. La población estuvo constituida por 150 estudiantes, seleccionándose a una muestra de 74 estudiantes, de los cuales 37 de ellos, correspondieron al grupo experimental y los otros 37 al grupo control.
