Y no podía ser de otra manera, pues la actual llamada sociedad del conocimiento exige nuevas destrezas para enfrentar y solucionar problemas inéditos de manera eficaz. El contexto de la globalización, además de propiciar el intercambio de mercancías y flujos económicos, estimula una acelerada transmisión del concimiento.

This text is a preliminary essay about the nature and the components of political discourse, a semiotic domain that will be the subject of a detailed analysis in an ongoing investigation, whose elaboration I share with Oscar Quezada. Here we are now trying to explore, to probe, to define the object of work and to present some general considerations.

In this article, I want to propose some warnings about a proper reading of the biblical text because some readers persist in the fundamentalist interpretation, even some Catholics readers - and this interpretations have been strong in pandemic times - who notoriously distorts the true meaning of what we affirm when we say that the Bible is the Word of God, moving away from a coherent interpretation and that it can help the theological debate today too. If we want to achieve this, in the first place, I will try to place the problem of the approach to biblical texts of a fundamentalist nature - and it could be very dangerous and tempting -; in the second place, I will present some preliminary guidelines to adequately approach the biblical texts according to the orientations of the Magisterium of the Church and the advances in the studies of bibl...

Given, on the one hand, the poor results obtained by Peruvian children in the national and international reading assessments. And on the other hand, the increased investment intechnology for schools in the country, this study aimed to develop and test an online tool to improve reading comprehension. In order to do this, the reading comprehension strategies and vocabulary activities from the research-based digital environment ICON were adapted to design the platform LEO. A total of 88 fifth graders from urban middle-to-low-income private schools from Lima participated in this quasi-experimental study, which involved acontrol group and a treatment group that participated in a 12-week teacher-mediated digital intervention. All participants were administered reading and vocabulary assessments pre and post intervention. Results revealed that students who participated in the intervention achi...

This study was based on the psycholinguistics and cognitive theory believes that learning to read, candidates must have achieved a level of development in phonological awareness, knowledge of written language, verbal memory and semantic and syntactic levels of language oral. In this article we raised the consideration of these variables as predictors of learning reader in first grade children entering primary schools in the region of Callao. To fulfill that purpose, we designed and validated TEST PRE-READING SKILLS (THP), consisting of four subtests, the first to evaluate phonological awareness, the second, which assesses knowledge of the name and sound of the letters, the third which assesses verbal memory, and finally, the fourth which assesses the syntactic and semantic components of oral language. Reliability was estimated by Cronbach’s alpha and Spearman-Brown coefficient. Was det...

This paper is divided into two parts: the first contains a series of discussions presented in the binational seminar for Critical Elections and Social Movements, which took place virtually with professors of the University of Santiago, the Catholic University of Lima and the Catholic University of Valparaiso in July, 2021, organized in collaboration with Professor Carlota Casalino. The second part of the paper addresses the further development of those events, taking place up to the third anniversary of the “social uprising” in Chile, in a radically different political context to the one of October, 2019, which seems to be the closure of a cycle (the constitutional issue yet to be resolved). The paper does not contains a thesis, rather it is a mosaic – certainly incomplete – that connects text revisions and interpretations to personal observations and explaining proposals. It aim...

This article proposes some reading keys to properly interpret the message of this controversial issue over the proliferation of fundamentalist readings of John’s Apocalypse, where we see the end of the world as imminent, such as the understanding of the apocalyptic genre that intended to strengthen Christian people persecuted during the Diocletian’s persecution in the late first century, or the same literary structure of the book that is focused on the number seven. Thus, this article is placed in line with the theology of history, an overview of the church history persecuted by the Romans in the late first century.

The objective of this research is to determine the relationship between the processes that make up reading comprehension (perceptive, lexical, syntactic and semantic) and the metacognitive reading skills (planning, supervision and evaluation) in students of cycle V (5th and 6th grade of elementary school) from a private school, located in the district of Santiago de Surco, Lima (Peru). The instruments used were the Battery of Evaluation of the Reading Processes - Revised (PROLEC-R) and adapted for students of Metropolitan Lima, and the Scale of Reading Consciousness (ESCOLA). The sample consisted of 80 students (50 of the 5th grade and 30 of the 6th grade), being a non-probabilistic by convenience, sampling. The results show that there is a correlation between the variables (at a global level and for each process); however, this relationship occurs at various levels of significance. The ...

Virginity —and its loss— by Andean women constitutes one of the central themes of the Letter that Guamán Poma left for the King of Spain, Philip III, entitled New Chronicle and Good Government, for the year 1615. For Guamán Poma the virginity embodied in the acllacuna was synonymous with order and greatness, while the violation of this virginity is presented as the central paradigm of the social catastrophe —"the world turned upside down"— that the conquest brought to the Andean peoples.

This article gathers the experience of classroom research called: the textual macrostructure as a pedagogical-didactic strategy to promote critical reading in undergraduate students. The project undertaken in January 2013 and completed in December 2014, assumes one of the problems experienced daily by students in their academic development: the limited ability to live in critical reading. This is an action research in education that uses a critical reading sheet, designed to identify semantic macrostructures in argumentative-descriptive texts. This research activity allowed us to observe step by step the way in which students explore and display other forms of reading, other than literal. The study helped validate the critical reading sheet as a pedagogical-didactic strategy that favors high-level reading.
