In the lexicon there are stored and processed a huge number of words. Taking into account the limited capacities of the brain, it is only possible this store because of the economical structure of the lexicon. On the research of the lexical structure stands out from three decades the study of the role played by morphology. A number of investigations, with and without brain damaged subjects, have shown that morphology plays an important role on the lexical access, although its role is still not very well know. In this study we make a deep revision of the main researches concerning the role of morphology, and discuss the results on the light of the different models proposed.

The aim of this research was to establish the relationship between phonological awareness and lexical processes in reading. This study was correlational, longitudinal and its design was not experimental. Thirty six students from a public school in the city of Lima were assessed in two stages: kinder and 2nd grade. The Phonological Awareness Assessment Test - PECO and the Lexical Processes subtests - PROLEC-R were used, both in adapted versions. The results showed that there is no significant relationship between phonological awareness and lexical processes in reading. However, there is a significant relationship between syllable identification task and word reading subtest in speed and reading skills indexes. A significant relationship between syllable identification task and pseudowords reading in reading skills index was found. Also, a significant relationship between syllabic omission...

This paper is a descriptive-explanatory investigation of Peruvian seafood lexicons. This article has two objectives: the first is to select and record the semantic features that make up the immanent and manifested meaning of Peruvian seafood lexicons; the second is to rank the lexicons according to semantic inclusion relations based on lexical fields. To do this, we use a descriptive structuralist methodology where we select and register a corpus of 30 names of Peruvian seafood extracted from Peruvian recipe books and gastronomic dictionaries and then group and describe them in minimal pairs that allow us to select the similar and differentiating semantic features; we also hierarchise the lexical fields found to account for the semantic relations of inclusion. In this way, we are able to determine the semantic features that allow us to transfer lexemes from a common language to a special...

This paper describes the operationalization of López Chávez and Strassburger Frías' (2000) mathematical formula for lexical availability using the Python programming language. The methodology used is framed within a qualitative-explanatory approach of an illustrative nature, which allows us to observe how Python can be fully incorporated into lexical availability studies. Python significantly optimizes data processing, shortening the time required and facilitating analysis, as evidenced by the results.

In this article we give an accountof the linguistic variation made by the jargon creation through metathesis. Likewise, the study was focused on the university students from Lima. We elucidate how this process is shown based on variables of age, genre, origin and the faculty where they study, factors thatare contrasted to show how the use of this process varies based on social agents. Finally, we explain the reasons for the utilization of this mechanism on more-familiar relationships between the speakers.

Differences between women and men language are a result of their contrasting social role, adjudicated and learned during the socialization process. Thus men and women belong to heterogeneous sociolinguistics sub-cultures, with differing interests, reactions and behaviors regarding language. In Lima 's speech this is mainly shown through the election of lexical varieties for verbal agression, for speaking about the other sex, the partner and sexual matters (more euphemistic in the feminine variety and straighter in the male one); and also through certain linguistic taboos reflecting the social organization, with dominant men and dominated women.

Lexical semantics argues that, in communication, there is a linguistic code that, when encrypted, allows us to understand how the meanings of a word are structured and act according to its level of arbitrariness. Now, this article deals with the meanings and uses of the word ghost, which is the result of a metaoperation that is constituted in an image (cognitive base), as it becomes an image (communicative operation) between the signifier and the signified. The conceptualization of our ghosts reveals, with respect to our common sense, a response of their significance in the brain associated with ideas that in language are conceived from a positive, neutral, or negative character. Therefore, invisibility is a possible response to their magical contact with nature and to a superstitious knowledge that opposes the dominant power of linguistically organized knowledge. The purpose of this art...

Research in academic literacy has shown that scaffolding improves the reading of disciplinary texts. Included among the considered variables is the lexica. A robust vocabulary will result in better reading performance. To verify this, a semantic priming task and a reading comprehension test were applied to 31 first-year pedagogy students to establish whether there is a correlation between lexical processing and reading. The main findings indicate the establishment of weak semantic relations and normal reading performance. It is concluded that better reading performance is associated with slower lexical processing, which would suggest that readers engage in strategic operations to address comprehension tasks. This will allow for the formulation of scaffolding actions that highlight the importance of mastering the disciplinary vocabulary in order to safeguard an adequate reading task.

In this paper we analyze the process of word formation in the literary production of Julio Cortázar. After an introductory section focused on his aim of regeneration of the Latin American novel, one of whose pillars is the renewal of the literary lexicon, the rest of the article is devoted to a detailed analysis of the procedures used by Cortázar in the creation of new words. Firstly, we study creations of a jabberwocky nature (jitanjáforas). Afterward, we attend to the use of the regular mechanisms that language offers for this purpose (derivation, composition, blending, palindromes and anagrams, etc.).

The objective of this research was to meet the standard of performance of students from third to sixth grade of primary education in the constitutional province of Callao in the psychological processes of writing: lexical, syntactic and planning evaluated through testing that, within the framework of this investigation, we drew up, accept and apply in 804 students from third to sixth grade of four socio-economic levels (a-B); C, D and E) of the constitutional province of Callao. We find that the total sample noted difficulties in the performance of the write in all assessed processes, especially in the drafting of narrative texts and in the allocation of punctuation signs a given text. As regards the second objective of the research that was the find if there are differences in the tasks evaluated according to socioeconomic level are differences in processes lexicons all tasks less in th...
