Over time, different process improvement models have emerged to assess software quality and apply improvements based on the evaluation. Among the most outstanding are CMMI and ISO/IEC 15504, and MPS are the three main models for evaluating and improving software processes. The differences that are addressed in the article are benefits and maturity levels. CMMI is based on the ideas of evil reproduced in a framework with five levels. ISO/IEC 15504, formerly known as SPICE. It has a framework of 6 groups of maturity. MPS-BR is based on CMMI with the difference that it has seven maturity levels. The main difference between CMMI, MPS-BR, and ISO 15504 is their orientation. While CMMI is aimed at large companies, MPS-BR focuses on medium and small companies, and ISO 15004 is aimed at any company, whether large companies or PyMEs.

This article analyzes the Organic Law on Higher Education of Ecuador with regards to the links and the aspects that force the Higher Education Institutions to act on the expectations and needs of the community, considering the national planning, the development regime, the worldwide scientific, humanistic and technological improvement, and the cultural diversity in the country. The importance of the relation with the community is described and it is highlighted as the strongest indicator of universities categorization at the present time. For that effect, some ideas are provided on how a comprehensive working model should be structured for effective linkage among the university, business and community, using as reference the Academic Unit of Business Science.

The Soxhlet method in extracting plasticizers from PVC compounds presents various areas for improvement, such as the amount of solvent used, the time required in the process, and its costs. This study proposes replacing the Soxhlet method with the ultrasound-assisted method to reduce the time, costs, and amount of solvent used in plasticizer extraction. It also proposes using solvent recovered from previous extractions to reduce costs further. The study involved experimentation with three different grades of PVC compounds (medical, cable, and profile) to compare the recovery of plasticizers by the Soxhlet and the ultrasound-assisted methods. Este artículo presenta una técnica para mejorar el proceso de diseño industrial de transistores de microondas, basado en un diseño de experimentos mejorado (DOE) y un modelado electrotérmico (MET) expandido. El diseño de experimentos DOE permitió centrar el diseño a través de variaciones en parámetros específicos, para evitar complejas simulaciones electromagnéticas de acoplamiento mutuo entre los cables dentro del mismo transistor, que generalmente en herramientas CAD convencionales presentan un elevado costo computacional. To this end, tools that involve employees of companies whose processes are not reaching the strategic objectives will be used. This methodology consists of six steps: the first three are focused on the definition, measurement and analysis of the problem, while the next three address the design, tests, and implementation and control of the solution. This tool seeks breakthrough results for companies during the process of analysis and implementation of improvements that result from applying the methodology described herein. Using the case method, the proposed methodology is applied to a real case and its results are validated.

The problem posed in this investigation is that a mutual fund management company maintained traditional processes of subscription and redemption of quotas in the funds, which caused great economic inefficiencies and discontent among clients. That is why the objective of this research was to propose a proposal to improve customer service processes through the application of a digital transformation through agile methodologies such as Design Thinking and Lean Startup through quasi-experimental practical research. In this way, it was possible to increase profits and customer experience. After the implementation, it was evidenced that thanks to this, the number of AUMs and participants increased by +15% per month and +55%, since the implementation, respectively, translating, later, into higher profits for the company (+10%).

In recent years, knowledge management (KM) has become an essential tool that, when well executed and administered within business and academic organizations, produces important dividends. This paper was to show the importance of KM in companies and universities as a tool that contributes to improving results and solving problems. The research followed a qualitative methodology, and a literature review was conducted based on top-level papers. This research will serve as a precedent for other studies that aim to improve the production processes of textile and apparel companies by proposing a preventive solution for excess fabric waste that results from the production process. The study will also provide insights into reducing the amount of excess fabric waste in the marking and cutting areas via the manufacture of additional clothing items and accessories. Consequently, by efficiently allocating resources to make optimal use of seasonal material, costs can be reduced, ultimately leading to improved profitability for the textile knitwear company.
