Multisensory integration is a fundamental neural mechanism crucial for understanding cognition. Multiple theoretical models exist to account for the computational processes underpinning this mechanism. However, there is an absence of a consolidated framework that facilitates the examination of multisensory integration across diverse experimental and computational contexts. We introduce Scikit-NeuroMSI, an accessible Python-based open-source framework designed to streamline the implementation and evaluation of computational models of multisensory integration. The capabilities of Scikit-NeuroMSI were demonstrated in enabling the implementation of multiple models of multisensory integration at different levels of analysis. Furthermore, we illustrate the utility of the software in systematically exploring the model’s behavior in spatiotemporal causal inference tasks through parameter sweep...

This article highlights the impact and criticism of the theoretical assumptions of prediction in the EGDE models, in addition to its scope and limits in terms of economic policy carried out by central banks. We have chosen various topics to explain predictive phenomena in social sciences and mainly in economics, based on econophysics, econometrics and macroeconometrics applied to EGDE models, but they revolve around the mind-brain problem and the “theory of cognition of predictive coding”. We conceptualize their contributions through epistemological problems and relate them to their application to EGDE models. Thus, we intend to emphasize the task of our criticism to open the field of analysis of prediction theories towards complex systems in social sciences and other epistemic debates. Therefore, the thesis of limitations in prediction is defended under the concept of the brain as a...

The purpose of the study is to measure the adjustment of an explanatory model of student performance in the subject of General Statistics at the La Molina National Agrarian University (UNALM) through the statistical technique of Structural Equation Models. The proposed model considers four factors: student performance, teacher performance, personal perception, and past performance. Two assessment instruments are applied in the study, first to measure personal perception, and the second, is to measure teacher performance. Cronbach's Alpha Reliability Coefficient is used to verify the reliability requirement and the Confirmatory Factor Analysis to verify the validity requirement of the assessment instruments. In both assessment instruments indicators obtain to confirm their reliability and validity. The fit of the proposed model was verified using the goodness of fit indicators, finding th...

The generalizability of a theoretical model is studied in several regions of Argentina. Participants were 1009 people (440 men and 569 women) from four regions. We analyzed the differences in the variable values at work to confirm if the regions were culturally different from each other. Next we designed a theoretical model where the variables were: discrepancy between implicit theories, quality of relationship with the superior and wellbeing in the organization. Results showed that the four regions displayed differences on values orientations. The Northwest and Patagonia regions showed the greatest differences in comparison with the two remaining regions. The model is partially generalizable since there are differences between regions in some of the proposed theoretical relations.

The emerging Peruvian economy is small and open with a rele- vant commodity sector. For that reason, policy makers study how the evolution of the price of copper affects its business cycles and iden- tify the transmission channels involved. This paper relies on a New Keynesian Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium model1 with (i) firms that have some monopoly power and produce intermediate va- rieties of goods, (ii) firms that produce final goods for domestic and international markets, (iii) importers who retail final foreign goods to households, (iv) firms that produce capital goods and (v) one firm that produces a commodity good that is entirely sold in the international market. The aim is to describe how a commodity price shock and a commodity production shock impact the Peruvian economy. Regarding the price shock, we observe a deterioration in the net foreign asset position due to c...

The evaluation of the academic performance of university students is a fundamental element to measure the quality of education in a higher education. The most direct way to obtain this qualification is through exams or probing tests, however if we consider that teachers are the ones who determine the form of evaluation, these instruments may present shortcomings in their elaboration. Therefore, in the School of Psychology of the National University of Cordoba is being built a test that attempts to estimate the academic performance of university students. Reason for which in this work the Rasch model is applied to evaluate the psychometric properties of 31 items of Level I of the knowledge domain in Laws. The sample consisted of 170 students aged between 19 and 60 years (M = 24.59, DE = 6.22). In general, the items have good psychometric properties. This work makes significant contributio...

A model of Real Business Cycles that includes a sector that generates Research and Development (R&D) at the product level is estimated in order to assess the quantitative importance of this sector in the macroeconomic dynamics of a small and open economy like the Peruvian economy. It is found that an efficiently innovative product-level sector plays a crucial role as a "shield" for the economy against exogenous shocks and amplifies macroeconomic dynamics in the face of R&D policies. Thus, the R&D sector manages mitigates the initial impact on economic growth arising from an adverse internal shock by 0.6 percentage points, and from an unfavorable external shock by 2 percentage points compared to the scenario without an R&D sector. Likewise, a 1 percent increase in innovation at the product level (more varieties of products in the economy) rises GDP growth by 0.35 percentag...

This article studies some properties in finite samples of several estimators of the Mean Response Coefficient in a Linear Regression Model of Random Coefficients. For this purpose, it was necessary to design a sample experiment. Thus, evidence about Bias, Consistency and Efficiency was obtained from 15,120 estimates. According to this, not only the Two-Stage Generalized Least Squares (GLS) estimator produced the best results but also the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) estimator by obtaining significant gains in Efficiency when it was estimated from a model without Error of Specification. It is necessary to expand this research by including the Maximum Likelihood estimator.

The overlap between depression and anxiety is a widely-replicated finding in mental health research. The Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scales (DASS-21) were developed to maximize the discrimination between these constructs. However, research suggests that DASS-21 predominantly measure an overall factor of emotional distress. In this study, DASS-21 were translated and applied to 353 university students (Mage = 20.42; 61% women) from Lima, Peru. The confirmatory factorial analysis supported a bifactor model, but additional analyses revealed that the data were essentially one-dimensional. Moreover, when the items were subjected to a bifactor exploratory analysis, some did not load into their original specific factors. The conclusion was that DASS-21 must be interpreted as a global dimension of emotional distress.

This paper presents estimates of the discard excess catch in the industrial purse seine fisheries of the North-Center stock of the Peruvian anchoveta (Engraulis ringens). Discard excess catch is defined as the portion of the catch that is thrown into the sea when has captured more than the hold capacity can store. The analysis is based on the “On-board observer of the purse seine vessels program” led by the Instituto del Mar del Peru (IMARPE), and in the period 2005 – 2014, 5837 trips were sampled, corresponding to 1.6% of the total trips. The methodologies used in the discard excess catch estimation were: Generalized Linear Model (GLM) and Delta Model. The estimations showed difference in magnitudes but similar trends, although the delta model appears to be a better alternative procedure for estimating the discard excess catch. The Delta Model estimated the purse seine fisheries d...
