The research focuses on analyzing transmedia narratives when reporting on an earthquake from a national digital newspaper, an international one, and also the impact of Facebook when disseminating the event. The objective is to compare the content generated about the earthquake of April 16, 2016, in Ecuador through transmedia tools in El Comercio (Ecuador) and El País (Spain), and Facebook. The aim is to know the role of the audience as prosumers of information. The methodology applied was mixed: qualitative and quantitative; the sample analyzed was 1126 informative pieces from El Comercio, 44 from El País and 1155 Facebook mentions. The need to educate and inform citizens about preventing the consequences of natural disasters and the treatment given by digital media justifies the study. There is abundant literature on the distance between the training of Latin American communication and journalism graduates and the labor market demands. However, few studies are concerned with a historiographic analysis of the reasons for such distance. In order to understand these causes, we carried out a systematic historiographic documentary research. We worked with digital repositories and incorporated articles published in indexed journals, books and chapters from books by some of the region’s most renowned communication professionals. Communication for development (CfD) is a discipline that seeks to promote social change through the strategic use of media and participatory dialogue. However, there is a paucity of studies that systematically and critically analyze the social processes underlying CfD interventions and their impact on the social significance of beneficiary communities. This article presents a narrative review of the literature on CfD, with the aim of identifying the main theoretical and methodological approaches that have addressed this topic, as well as the main limitations and challenges facing research in this field. The sustainability has become a fashion, and all business organisations want tobe fashionable. Everyone aims to trend and developed their items in a sustainableway, protecting human health. This research sought to study the communication conditions in an educational institute with the purpose of knowing the effectiveness of the communicational interchanges between the parts involved and with the purpose of designing a tool to improve the communication between students, teachers, principals and parents. The efficiency of the communication was analyzed, as well as the benefits they obtain from it. The qualitative method was used to obtain their opinion through interviews. The collected information was used to design a technological platform that would allow keeping communication, taking into account the needs of the school under study. It is concluded that the communication is efficient between the internal actors but deficient with the external participants, for which the use of a technological platform of communication would benefit the process.

This paper aims to analyze the relevance of verbal, paraverbal and nonverbal communication for a group of students by observing and evaluating a speaker’s speech. The corpus analyzed is composed of the notes made by 30 students about the communicative flaws detected in a speaker’s speech. The results obtained indicate that 11.27% of such criticisms were aimed at verbal communication, 30.82% at paraverbal communication and 57.89% at nonverbal communication. Therefore, these conclusions are similar to those reached by Mehrabian (1972), although they differ in part from the ones presented in van der Hofstadt (2005) or Orzáiz (2009). This study focuses on ostomy, a digestive surgery that has increased in recent years. Its limited visibility and low awareness among the population leads us to investigate the way it is represented on social media and the role played by certain content creators on Instagram. Using a methodology based on content analysis, we examine a sample of Instagram profiles focused on the visibility of this surgery. This research is about what the “Aprendo en casa” strategy in Peru in 2020 meant from two of its main resources, radio and television. The objective was to analyze communicationally and evaluate the programs of both media. Thirty-two pieces from all educational levels were discussed, in seven months, with 27 expert communicators, and the experience from 50 target actors of the strategy was evaluated. The study was methodologically naturalistic, with a qualitative approach, indirect hermeneutical and phenomenological typologies, and under an open coding design. This research explores, through a pre-experimental design, how artistic resources can contribute to health prevention. For this purpose, participants (N = 118) completed a pre-test questionnaire and, after interacting with four testimonial narratives in the COVID-19 Diaries website, specially developed for this research, responded to the post-test. The study investigated the role of art in prevention intention, risk perception, and behavior, as well as the association with narrative transportation and identification with characters, the two main mechanisms explaining narrative persuasion. The article supports proposals from the teaching experience and research, regarding emancipatory relationships among teachers and students based on the use of group and collaborative relational and communicative practices. From the standpoint of historical and cultural references, the article insists on the need to dismantle the traditional culture of universities, and to develop intersubjective practices based on respect, symmetry in relationships, affectivity, and collaboration. The feasibility of groups as a foundation for this change in educational institutions is debated. This essay presents a reflection about how adolescents create their identity and relations of alterity through their interaction experiences in a constant transit between physical and virtual spaces. The purpose of this study was to provide evidence of validity and reliability for the Barnes and Olson’s (1982) Parent-Adolescent Communication Scale among university students from Lima, aged 16 to 25. Participants were 255 students (162 females) from two universities. An exploratory factor analysis was performed to assess the viability of bi-factor and tri-factor structures. This exploratory factor analysis supported the two-factor structure originally proposed for this instrument (open communication and problem communication). Both in the father-adolescent and in the mother-adolescent version, obtained Cronbach’s alpha values were high (ranging between .80 and .90). The structural model also showed good fit indexes. This confirms the reliability and validity of this instrument in the sample under study.

Bunge (1997) argues that a good scientific explanation should detail the mechanisms that lead from causes to effects. In recent decades, this type of explanation has been incorporated into the dominant paradigms in sociology and political science, where it has achieved both theoretical and methodological advances, above all through the process tracing technique. In contrast, in communication there continues to be an almost exclusive dominance of theories and research using interpretive or variance methods. This research examined the perceptions of students and graduates of hybrid doctoral courses regarding course design, teaching and learning activities, virtual educational platforms, interaction, evaluation techniques and overall perception. The researchers used quantitative methodology with a cross-sectional survey design and a self-administered questionnaire with 33 participants. The results revealed high satisfaction with the course design and teaching activities. The participants appreciated the flexibility and accessibility of the virtual educational platform, although they reported occasional technical issues. They highlighted interaction as a crucial factor for the success of the course. The findings suggest that hybrid courses effectively meet the needs of adult learners.

This article analyzes the main trends in audience research studies published in scientific journals on communication from Argentina (2016-2020). Following the meta-research tradition, we made content analysis. The corpus consists of a total of 51 articles. The main results demonstrate the prevalence of inductive and empirical studies, and a preference for studying audiences in relation to digital consumptions in young age groups. We also observed signs of fragmentation and dispersion in the methodological aspects. Most articles were written in South America by unique signatories. The study aims to explain the relationship between the agenda of the Sierra Maestra newspaper in Santiago de Cuba and that of its readers through two WhatsApp groups created by the newspaper from June to October 2021. A quantitative research design was employed using techniques such as content analysis in the selected groups and applied survey in their members. The study determined that there is no thematic relationship between the newspaper’s agenda and that of its readers.
