Objective: To perform a literature review on oral squamous cell carcinoma, the presence of cancer stem cells; their association with the course of the disease and therapeutic applications. Methods: A search was performed in the PubMed database by entering the following algorithm: ((((neoplastic stem cells[MeSH Terms]) OR (Cancer stem cells[Text Word])) AND (Squamous Cell Carcinoma of Head and Neck[MeSH Terms])) AND (Oral squamous cell carcinoma[Text Word]), to find articles in english published between 2012 and 2022. The PRISMA diagram was used to identify and select the articles. Results: A result of 49 articles was obtained; of which 27 were chosen according to the title and abstract in their association with the topic. Objective: to describe the knowledge of university students about the effects on learning and health of excessive use of cell phones in classrooms. Methodology: descriptive and explanatory. The sample was made up of 207 students: 59 men and 148 women; administered instruments were applied. Results: Regarding learning, health and the use of cell phones in the classroom, 66% of students agree that the use of cell phones in the classroom affects learning; 44% would support banning cell phone use in classrooms. 68.6% recognize the teacher's authority to prohibit their use in the classroom, and 49.8% support the idea of creating a space to store students' cell phones during class. Objective: to develop a microfluidic system (lab-on-a-chip) for detecting circulating breast cancer tumor cells. Materials and methods: the device was designed using 3D technology, and it was manufactures using soft photolithography and a laser cutting machine. The system performance and its magnetic settings were assessed using Jurkat cells and breast cancer cells that show different expression of CD45 and EpCAM surface markers. Antibodies against these markers were bound to magnetic pellets. Additionally, iron nanoparticles were used for assessing their entrapment. Results: nanoparticles were significantly trapped in the area set by magnetic field modeling. Tumor cells labeled with magnetic antibodies became trapped. Se utilizaron exopolisacáridos (EPS) extraídos de cianobacterias de Nostoc commune para preparar sustratos celulares de baja adhesión para el crecimiento de células selectivas tumorales. Los sustratos fueron reforzados con bigotes de quitina y nanopartículas de almidón y caracterizados mediante espectroscopia infrarroja Fouriertransform, difracción de rayos X y pruebas de tracción. Se sembraron dos células independientes de anclaje, HeLa modificada por GFP y células THP-1 en las muestras para evaluar su interacción con los compuestos. Los resultados confirmaron la interacción de la superficie celular de los compuestos a base de EPS. Las propiedades mecánicas de estas películas se pueden adaptar controlando el tipo y la concentración del refuerzo, que se puede utilizar en el diseño de diferentes tipos de biomateriales.

El cáncer de cérvix incluye tipos histológicos variados, el carcinoma escamoso y el adenocarcinoma representan el 70% y 25%, respectivamente. El tumor neuroendocrino de cuello uterino es extremadamente raro e infrecuente y representa el 2% de todas las malignidades cervicales invasoras en mujeres de edad media de 45 años. Cabe resaltar que el carcinoma neuroendocrino de células pequeñas es una variante de cáncer de pulmón extrapulmonar y el agente causal son las cepas de alto riesgo de VPH. Presentamos el caso de una mujer de 59 años con diagnóstico de carcinoma neuroendocrino de células pequeñas de cuello uterino tratada con quimioterapia neoadyuvante e histerectomía radical tipo C1. A packed-bed bioreactor was designed with immobilized cells on a ceramic inert support (instalox seats). The design equatlons, considering an ideal plug-flow tubular bloreactor, were solved with appropiate algorithms installed in Mathcad 7P, obtaining a volume of 10L for the appropiate desing restrictions. It was determinad that for small bioreactors it is not necessary to consider the pattern of axial disperslon and that the isothermic operation is possible for the hlgh degree of retromixing of coolant in the jacket.

At this Work, we present the first results of the colaboration UNI/HAHN-MEITNER-INSTITUT, obtained in the characterization of high efficiency solar cells (Programme Euro-Joule) with a home made photocurrent spectrometer. First, we show the application of the System to a monocrystalline silicon solar cell (Co. ISOFOTON /Spain). We describe next the results obtained with two types of "Joule"Solar cells: CdS/Cu(In,Ga,)(S,Se)2 and ZnSe/Cu(ln,Ga,)(S,Se)2.

The most recent and astonishing scientific advances have allowed the development of fertilization techniques based on the somatic cell nuclear transfer method. Thanks to this, it has been possible to widen knowledge about embryo cells, maintaining their pluripotentiality and now there are some cell banks available for therapeutic purposes.However, embryo cell manipulation has been the subject of many discussion from the scientific, ethics, and politics point of view, because of many fears generated by the likelihood of manipulating the genetic machinery of a non-differentiated totipotent stem cell.In the last Presidential Elections in the USA, Mr. Barack Obama proimised to strengthen research in this promising field. This promise opens the way for many patients that are awaiing for therapy options that nowadays still are not possible.

It is reported a squamous cell carcinoma (CCE) located in the vulva of a female 12-year-old crossbreed horse, raised in an extensive system. The mare presented a granulomatous tumour adhered to the vulva, which had progressive growth and affected the entire area of the vulva. The tumour showed a whitish red colour, solid consistency, non-regular surface and ulcerations. The diagnosis was made using the histopathological technique using three fragments and had a compatible result for squamous cell carcinoma.
