Population growth and urbanization generated a greater global energy demand, positioning solar energy as one of the main sustainable alternatives to address this challenge. The aim of this study was to map the advances, challenges, and perspectives of photovoltaic-thermal (PV/T) systems through a bibliometric analysis and a review of the most relevant publications from the Scopus database. Applying predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 1077 documents were processed using Biblioshiny, an R-based interface, and VosViewer. The countries with the highest scientific production and international collaboration were China, India, and Iran, with the University of Science and Technology of China standing out as the most influential institution. The most prominent journal was Solar Energy, based in the United Kingdom. The most frequently cited studies highlight significant advance...

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) is generating a significant transformation of the healthcare sector worldwide. These technologies are improving the efficiency of workflows, increasing the accuracy of diagnoses and raising the quality of patient treatment. However, they also pose complex regulatory challenges. This article examines the need for fundamental changes in the way AI and AA-based medical software is regulated, taking the role undertaken by the FDA. A literature review was conducted to analyze the current landscape of medical software using AI and AA and the implications it has on the use of these technologies. Key challenges in the regulation of AI and OA in the healthcare sector are highlighted, including the need for systemic approaches and the importance of flexibility and ongoing oversight in regulation. It is concluded that a systemic regul...

Fires have become a recurrent menace to wetlands of the central coast of Peru. However, the scientific knowledge of its impacts is scarce and does not allow adequate prevention measures. This study evaluated the current state of knowledge of fires recorded for wetland Los Pantanos de Villa Wildlife Refuge, as well as the species affected by these events. In the last ten years, four fires have impacted the Pantanos de Villa, affecting 3.51% of the surface of the wetland. The rushes were the plant community most impacted by the fires. We identified 34 species frequently affected by these disturbances, 12 belonging to flora and 22 to fauna, including vulnerable species as well as species new to science. These data show the need to strengthen scientific studies that quantify the effects of fire on the tropical coastal wetland. Finally, we discuss the problem of recurrent fires in this protec...

The various industrial sectors, as well as livestock and agricultural activities, are increasing the production of inputs to meet the demand of the worldwide demographic explosion, making a challenge the clean maintenance of water, soil, and air. Therefore, the search for solutions for a pollutant-free environment without compromising economic development has become extremely important. Thereby, biotechnological studies in order to solve environmental issues have been gaining extensive attention through the coupling of technology procedures to biological systems as sustainable solutions to remediate contaminated areas. In this sense, this review covers topics such as the role of Omics era in microbial environmental biotechnology for pollution control as well as the microbial fuel cell use in energy production. Moreover, phytoremediation and the perspective of applying chemical methods ar...

In 2014, through Ruling No. 00139-2013-PA/TC, the Constitutional Court (hereinafter, Court) established a constitutional precedent whereby gender is animmutable element and, consequently, it is not possible to request any amendment of data in identity documents. In addition, the Court based its reasoning on the idea that any alteration of identity following that criterion should be construed as a “disorder and/or pathology”. In other words, for this Court (Urviola Hani, Vergara Gotelli, Calle Hayen and Alvarez Miranda, judges who voted in the majority), transsexual persons were “disturbed or sick”. However, in a landmark decision for transgender persons in Peru, the current Court (Miranda Canales, Ledesma Narváez, Ramos Nuñez and Espinosa-Saldaña Barrera, judges who voted in the majority) issued Ruling No. 06040-2015-PA/TC, by which...

The traditional view of transitivity is based on the fact that the language has both transitive and intransitive verbs. On this basis, in transitive clauses there is an action of transference from a subject to an object. According to this statement, the transitive verb is the one that denotes events about the object, either an action on it or a change of state of it. However, studies subsequent to this perspective, carried out by Hopper and Thompson (1980) disagree with the above and propose that transitivity does not respond to a simple transference from the subject to the object. For the authors, transitivity is a property of languages characterized by the fulfillment of certain parameters, which indicate the greater or lesser degree of transitivity of clauses within a discursive context. The present study aims to describe the morphosyntactic characteristics that show a higher degree o...

Objective: To learn about the disagreements among geriatricians from a Latin American country (Peru) as to the palliative therapy for dementia. Materials and methods: A descriptive and cross-sectional study. The population consisted of Peruvian geriatricians and geriatrics residents surveyed during August 2019. A non-probability convenience sampling was used. Considering a total population of 277 geriatricians in Peru and a design effect of 1.0, the minimum sample size was 162 geriatricians. The survey included different questions focused on geriatricians’ decisions on the daily clinical practice of terminal care in dementia. To ensure a better understanding of the answers, a typical case of the disease was presented. Results: One hundred sixty-two (162) doctors were surveyed, most of whom were geriatricians (81.48 %). Regarding the global level of attitudes and knowledge of palliative...

This editorial provides a historical review regarding the trade association as one of the most relevant elements of modern dental practice and supports the importance of contemporary dental schools in the development and advancement of the dental profession. The term union is defined as a group of people who have the same trade or profession and associate to order it, defend it, and share experiences. This word involves all the individuals who work in the same professional branch, which contrasts with the concept of union, which implies a voluntary meeting of a group of these.

The most important advance for global of control cervical cancer is the emergence of prophylactic vaccines against human papillomavirus (HPV) 16 and 18. A new phase starts that changes cervical cancer prevention and control paradigms, whose impact in the reduction in incidence and mortality will be observed by many of us in the next 20 years. The main challenge will be to establish an organized social response according to our physical infrastructure and human resources, our finantial factibility to implement the new technologies in the people and very importantly to consider the need of education and health promotion according to local and regional needs; all this to guarantee one of the main health rights, equity of access to all our population.

Advances in data management technologies are being adapted to resolve difficulties and impacts that aquaculture manifests, some aspects that over the years have not been fully managed, are now more feasible to solve, such as the optimization of variables that intervene in the growth and increase of biomass, the prediction of water quality parameters to manage and make decisions during farming fish, the evaluation of the aquaculture environment and the impact generated by aquaculture, the diagnosis of diseases in aquaculture fish to determine more specific treatments, handling, management and closure of aquaculture farms. The objective of this article was to review within the last 20 years the various techniques, methodologies, models, algorithms, software, and devices that are used within artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning systems, to solve in a simpler way, quic...
