In recent years, in Latin America, reference has been frequently made to “collaborative” contracts. However, there is no common understanding of what this term means and the relevant international discussion and development. This article seeks to establish the framework of the discussion on alternatives available to increase productivity in the construction industry and how this has led to seeing the contract as a useful tool to promote said process.

The article presents the results about processes related to project management, with the aim of proposing a methodology based on Lean Construction and the fundamentals of the PMBOK Guide; that allows to improve the productivity of construction projects. This paper describes the process followed by an internarional NFO, ITDG -Practical Solutions, to improve communication impact on its practices and institutional policies. It shows an inventory of the main challenges that NGOs are facing in the field of communication, the inrernarional scenario factors which generate them and the route this organization followed to meet them. The designed program, advances and lessons learned in the way, and also the considerations that must be taken to follow similar processes are described in detail.
