Arsenic contamination in water represents a serious public health issue worldwide, particularly in regions where natural or anthropogenic sources contribute to concentrations exceeding the maximum permissible limit of 0.01 mg/L established by the World Health Organization. This study evaluated the efficiency of a ceramic matrix made from red clay impregnated with ferric oxide (Fe₂O₃) for arsenic removal and water quality improvement. Water samples were collected from the Apacheta River and treated using a continuous-flow system with supports calcined at 800 °C. Arsenic concentrations were determined by spectrophotometry, and physicochemical parameters were analyzed before and after treatment. The results showed a reduction in arsenic concentration from 0.17 mg/L to 0.0053 mg/L, achieving a removal efficiency of 94.5 %, along with improvements in turbidity, electrical conductivity, a...

“Cotton is the most widely used natural fiber for textiles; however, the capacity of cotton fibers to absorb large amounts of moisture, retain oxygen, and have a high specific surface area makes them more prone to microbial contamination, becoming an appropriate medium for the growth of bacteria and fungi. In recent years, the incorporation of silver nanoparticles in textile products has been widely used due to their broad-spectrum antibacterial activity and low toxicity towards mammalian cells. The aim of the current study is to continue the assessment of our developed nanocomposite and evaluate the antibacterial and antifungal activity of the nanocomposite based on silver nanoparticles and carboxymethyl chitosan (AgNPs-CMC) against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans, evaluated by the well diffusion method. The antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. a...

When we refer to pain, we are faced with an unpleasant sensation that causes certain reactions in the human body that prevent its production, so it is of vital importance to understand what the symptomatology of pain is, how it is produced and how it can be avoided. production, there are cases where the pain becomes pathological where found in the patient's thoughts, therefore the present work tries to demonstrate that its production can be avoided in the face of intense painful situations that occur when working in the recovery of the mobility of the patient. articulation of the knee, which by its nature is painful, added to the fear of feeling pain on the part of the patient does not help the patient's recovery, the experimentation consists of taking the pain from the approach of not thinking about it and relaxing and evaluating it by an environment of cerebral analysis through the lev...

This study investigated consumers' perceptions of adding bee pollen to bread. An attitude questionnaire composed of 48 statements related to "general health," "light products," "natural products," "salty products," "food as a reward," "pleasure," and "food neophobia" was answered by the participants, who indicated their level of agreement with each statement according to a 5-point Likert scale, ranging from (1) "totally disagree" to (5) "totally agree." A check-all-that-apply (CATA) questionnaire was also employed to characterize 12 visual stimuli. The creation of stimuli was carried out using a factorial design, resulting in 12 images of bread. Three clusters of consumers were identified, each associating positive attributes with stimuli containing bee pollen, regardless of the health claim, while negative attributes were associated with stimuli without added pollen. The main positive d...

Evolutionary Psychology (EP) supports the hypothesis of massive modularity (HMM), in which the mind is understood as a set of modules that fulfill a specific function to solve recurrent adaptive problems in our evolutionary adaptation environment. This set would be part of human nature and the objective of EP is to identify and explain them in distal terms. Its detractors argue that the modular conception is inconsistent with current theoretical and empirical knowledge. From the works of Carruthers and Crawford, I will defend that several of the criticisms against HMM assume the modular conception of Fodor (F-modules), who emphasizes the intentional aspect. However, EP highlights biological functionality, conceives modules as adaptive traits that evolve due to their effects on differential reproduction; that is, Darwinian modules (D-modules) and understands them as specialized informatio...

This work studies the interaction between natural dyes obtained from Peruvian Zea mays and Bixa orellana seeds and nanostructured titanium dioxide, in order to evaluate their function as sensitizers into solar cell devices. The effective attachment of dyes to the TiO2 layer is corroborated by the comparison of UV-Visible absorption and FT-IR spectra of the extracted dye solutions and sensitized TiO2 electrodes. The principal compounds from the seed extraction of Zea mays and Bixa orellana are cyanidin-3-glucoside (C3G) and bixin respectively, which were analyzed in an isolated dye/cluster TiO2 system by molecular dynamic simulation. The results showed that chemisorption is carried out through a consecutive deprotonation process, and Ti-O bond formation by the monodentate OH and COOH anchoring groups, for C3G and bixin respectively. Finally, we tested the effect of the dye - TiO2 interact...

Intelligence is a construct of notable impact in our sociocultural context, related to a wide range of conceptual and operational definitions which originate positions that highlights cognitive and abstract elements and emotional and social skills, as well was perspectives that are focused on processes underlying the intelligent performance, such as in the case of executive functions (EFs), which are configured as cognitive processes that make it possible the self-regulation (Miyake & Friedman, 2012). Similarly, there are approaches that give intelligence a relevant and predictive role of school performance, an aspect strengthened by the psychometric perspective, where the concept of intelligence has been closely linked to learning. In this line, we also find the classical perspective of crystallized Intelligence of Cattell (1943), which refers to the knowledge acquired through educa...

The molecular design based on the imitation of the complex structures and processes found in nature is known as bioinspired Chemistry or biomimetic Chemistry. An approach used in this discipline is the preparation of macrocyclic pseudopeptidic compounds from natural amino acids and abiotic components. Proteins exist in nature with very specific properties encoded by the diverse structural and conformational information of the amino acids side chains. The use of this information is a key factor in the design of pseudopeptides with well-defined properties. Therefore, a suitable structural design to obtain the desired functionality relies on the appropriate choice of structural components, natural and abiotic.

Dyslexia is a disorder in the written use of language due to visuospatial weakness in the perception of linguistic forms. This paper postulates that a possible functional characterization of the deficits of a linguistic nature in patient speakers who present dyslexia when a full acquisition of reading and writing is not yet assumed will favor both the diagnosis and the intervention proposal. To demonstrate this hypothesis, we study the case of two twin patient-speakers who share the diagnosis of dyslexia, with the aim of checking the genetic-hereditary nature of the pathology and proposing specific therapies based on linguistic functional analysis. We thus present the theoretical framework that allows the historical knowledge and definitions offered on this disorder, the difficulties involved in its etiology, and the different models of intervention that currently exist to alleviate it. ...

The relationship between executive functions (EF), creative personality, and academic performance in Argentine university students was examined. A total of 248 students (M = 22.97 years, SD = 4.43) from various Argentine provinces participated. The Adult Executive Functioning Inventory (ADEXI), the Cognitive Flexibility Scale, the Creative Behavior Scale (ECC), and the Creative Personality Scale (EPC) were used, along with academic performance data and sociodemographic information. Data were collected online through Google Forms and analyzed using Spearman correlations and mediation analysis with robust Maximum Likelihood estimator and Bootstrap. Cognitive flexibility exhibited the most robust correlation with grade point average (r = .281, p < .001), followed by working memory difficulties (r = -.234, p < .001). Creative personality correlated positively with grade point average (...
