The virtual classroom is an innovative educational resource that allows teachers and students to access and use of various media (chat, web pages, discussion forums, blogs, wikis, etc); in order to perform activities that are conducive to learning. The use of this resource will help optimize the teaching-learning process in person, because it creates a development environment and collaborative work between all actors of learning. This will maintain effective communication between students and teachers. This research was conducted during the academic semester 2016-II, applied to students of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the Private University of Tacna, regarding the use of virtual classrooms. They were part of the sample 300 students of different cycles. Objective: The objective is to identify the perception of college students from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism a...

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of virtual and hybrid teaching methods, leading to substantial changes in educational approaches. This study focused on evaluating the effect of mediating technologies on post-pandemic educational processes, emphasizing their essential role in enhancing interaction and cooperation between teachers and students. Although their relevance is evident, challenges persist in terms of access, quality, and evaluation of technological educational initiatives. To address these challenges, a comprehensive literature review was conducted, examining 26 international academic studies published in the last five years. The findings indicate that mediating technologies positively influence motivation, student retention, and self-directed learning, especially in higher education and language teaching. However, the effects vary depending on the context. It is ...

Potato is economically important in Peru, which is the first potato producer in Latin America, however, the quality of native potatoes need to be improved to increment their consumption. An automatic classification process to detect potato defects is important within the entire production chain to guarantee the high quality of the product. In the present research, a Convolutional Neural Network is used to detect defects in the Huayro potato surface. This is an Andean potato originally from Peru and is special because it has very marked eyes that can complicate the differentiation from pests that leaves holes in the potato. An adaptive learning was proposed in the work, where the principal idea is to evaluate continuously the learning of the neural network to adapt the training process (in this case the training data) to increment the learning performance. The detection results were aroun...

The diagnostic process of respiratory diseases requires experience and skills to assess the different pathologies that patients may develop. Unfortunately, the lack of qualified radiologists is a global problem that limits respiratory diseases diagnosis. Therefore, it will be useful to have a tool that minimizes errors and workload, improves efficiency, and speeds up the diagnostic process in order to provide a better healthcare service to the community. This research proposes a methodology to detect pathologies by using deep learning architectures. The present proposal is divided into three types of experiments. The first one evaluates the performance of feature descriptors such as SIFT, SURF, and ORB in medical images with machine learning models as an introduction to the last experiment. The second one evaluates the performance of deep learning architectures such as ResNet50, Alexnet,...

In this study, we address a fundamental and still relatively less explored aspect in the field of neural networks for image dehazing: the unsupervised dehazing of an image. By conceiving a hazy image as the superposition of several “simpler“ layers, such as a haze-free image layer, a transmission map layer, and an atmospheric light layer, inspired by the atmospheric scattering model, we propose an approach based on the concept of layer disentangling. Our method, called XYZ, represents a substantial improvement in image quality metrics, such as SSIM and PSNR as well as BRISQUE, PIQE and NIQE. This advancement is achieved through the strategic combination of the XHOT, YOLY and ZID methods, capitalizing on the individual strengths of each. A distinctive and valuable aspect of the XYZ approach is its unsupervised nature, which implies that it does not rely on data sets containing pairs o...

Collaborative writing is a complex task that involves diverse regulatory processes. In this case study we address the resolution of Problem-Based Learning through a report written collaboratively. Ten students from the Human Biology degree and their tutor took part. We collected data inside the classroom (the writing assignment, the assessment rubric, and audio recordings of 3 tutorials) and data outside the classroom (screen recordings of the students’ activity on their computers, the team’s WhatsApp group conversation, the final text of the written work, a focus group recording and the evaluative comments of the marking teachers). The results indicate that the processes of self-regulation and socially shared regulation are the most developed. Participants demonstrate control and autonomy in carrying out individual and group activities. On the other hand, co-regulation is less frequ...

The teaching-learning process is affected, primarily, at kindergarden due to many factors that marks the learning content quality, such as wrongly choosing the educationalmaterial. Most teachers deem that any object that attracts a child is an educational mean. However, in the end, this object may not serve as a learning facilitator, nor help to achieve theobjectives set out. The la e k of responsibility and professional ethics are shown by actions such as the lack planning of learning activities, as well as the lack of concern in giving the student a comprehensive education, thus drifting away from the purpose of teaching. The current use of traditional methodologies that are little conventional and limits children's potential development evidence the lack of continuous training and updating in new methodologies. In the current educational context, physical education and student sports development face challenges marked by continuous technological evolution. This study proposes a predictive model supported by machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), establishing a connection between cardiorespiratory capacity (VO2max) and student anthropometric data. With a sample of 179 students aged 13 to 18, the model-building process included preparing and partitioning a dataset, training, and evaluation under the CRISP-DM methodology. A multiple linear regression model was applied, incorporating weight, age, height, sex, and body mass index (BMI) to analyze their relationship with the dependent variable (VO2max). Performance metrics revealed a significant correlation between anthropometric measurements and cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF), with a 24% improvement in training, although test accuracy w...
