The study of children and adults who have a hearing and auditory deficit that are not justified by a deficient auditory profile in the audiogram, has aroused the interest of numerous research groups in the last decades, whose result has been the definition and compilation of evidences towards the evaluation of Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD). In this article we will make a historical journey through the definition of the syndrome and the different instruments used today for its diagnosis.

This article discusses the historical trajectory of educational assessment in the Brazilian academic scenario, pointing out the influence of American literature on the Brazilian scientific production, its models break as well as the efforts in order to construct a theory and a practical assessment applied to the Brazilian reality. It supports the hypothesis that educational evaluation is still an area of knowledge that is in process of setting up and strengthening in the country, the last two decades enabled them to overcome the named «cultural transfer» in the field of scientific production, allowing the constitution and hegemony of an approach grounded on a emancipatory political-pedagogical character in the scientific community

The pharmacotherapeutic follow up (PF) is a practice in which the pharmacist is responsible for the patients in relation to their drugs through pharmaceutical interventions to prevent, identify and solve drugs therapy problems (DTP). The aim of this study was to describe the experiences of a decade of PF in patients from the community at a public university. The study was descriptive and observational. The data were obtained from the notebooks, PF sheets and evaluation intervention sheets of Cabinet of Pharmaceutical Care of Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, San Marcos University; which were processed and evaluated in excel, with the following results: the attention to patients were made by residents of Clinical Pharmacy, from October 2003 to May 2012. 287 patients received pharmaceutical intervention: 163 women and 124 men, 90 patients with PF (35 attended less than a month, 29 a mo...

Volcanic plumes are common and far-reaching manifestations of volcanic activity during and between eruptions. Observations of the rate of emission and composition of volcanic plumes are essential to recognize and, in some cases, predict the state of volcanic activity. Measurements of the size and location of the plumes are important to assess the impact of the emission from sporadic or localized events to persistent or widespread processes of climatic and environmental importance. These observations provide information on volatile budgets on Earth, chemical evolution of magmas, and atmospheric circulation and dynamics. Space-based observations during the last decades have given us a global view of Earth's volcanic emission, particularly of sulfur dioxide (SO2). Although none of the satellite missions were intended to be used for measurement of volcanic gas emission, specially adapted alg...

From an operative view, all concerns in this research about the results of the self-evaluation, the externa! evaluation, and the quality improvement are the result of management and maintaining this after being certified (accredited) the institution will also be the consequence ofthe management mechanisms to adopt. One of the possible strategies to cope the educational crisis, in non developed countries, is implementing evaluation programs (specifically self-evaluation) to the consequent accreditation of the educational qua lit y. Autism is a spectrum disorder that affects communication and social interaction. It has increased in recent decades, especially among children, and has had a significant impact on their lives, necessitating attention and appropriate support. A prototype mobile application was developed using the Scrum methodology, which allows for flexibility, adaptability, incremental delivery, and quality, as well as continuous improvement. The result obtained was a prototype with a design and features that facilitate patient and specialist access to healthcare areas. The quality of the prototype was evaluated by experts, who assessed its efficiency, usability, design, and functionality and obtained an average score of 4.61. This indicates that, according to the established quality range, it is high. In conclusion, the prototype enhances the therapeutic process for children with autism. It is efficient...

This study examines the increasing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in Costa Rica’s agricultural sector, emphasizing its potential to enhance sustainability, resource management, and market competitiveness. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research integrates structural equation modeling (SEM), multivariate regression analysis, text mining, and scenario analysis to provide a comprehensive evaluation of AI adoption. AI-driven solutions optimize key agricultural processes, including climate pattern prediction, soil condition monitoring, crop disease detection, and pest management. Quantitative findings indicate a strong correlation between AI adoption and improved productivity, economic benefits, and environmental conservation, particularly through optimized fertilizer and pesticide use and enhanced water management. However, challenges such as high implementation costs, limited d...

The way in which individuals and groups explain poverty shapes how they relate to it. This paper inquires the beliefs of university students about the causes of poverty and analyses the relation of these beliefs with their professional training area. An assessment instrument that considers three type of attributions -individualist, socio-structural and fatalistic-, was administered to a sample of 448 advanced university students belonging to nine social sciences programs, aged between 19 and 42 years (M = 22.92; SD = 3.12). The results obtained indicate important variations in the explanations about poverty according to the professional training area. Students of economic sciences emphasized the importance of individual factors, psychology and law students tended to mixed explanations and sociology students showed a wide preference for socio-structural causes over individual and fatalist...

Formative research in recent decades is positioned in the professional training curricula of the various areas of knowledge. Teacher training has not been the exception. Formative research has been included as a transversal axis of the curriculum, with the purpose of developing investigative skills and promoting the development of higher-order thought processes. For this, it has been necessary to manage changes in didactics, in evaluation and above all to have a teacher trainer who has the necessary qualities to accompany the student to build knowledge autonomously and in the future be capable of transforming their reality. Therefore, formative research in teacher training should focus on: a) preparing future professionals to make innovative use of existing scientific and technological knowledge and empower them to take on the challenge of transforming the educational reality from resear...

Purpose In order to assess the impact of anthropogenic activities on carbon and nutrient accumulation, total organic carbon (TOC), nitrogen (TN), and phosphorus (TP) accumulation rates were examined in a Pb-210-dated mangrove sediment core from Sepetiba Bay, Brazil, a coastal region impacted by multiple environmental changes during the previous century. Materials and methods A 50-cm length sediment core was collected from a mangrove forest in Sepetiba Bay. Sediment subsamples were analyzed to measure TOC, TN, delta C-13, and delta N-15 using an elemental analyzer attached to an isotope ratio mass spectrometer Thermo Finnigan Model Delta Plus XP, whereas colorimetric analysis were used to measure TP. For (210)Pbex analyses, gamma-ray measurements were performed in a semiplanar intrinsic germanium high purity coaxial detector, coupled to a multichannel analyzer, whereas the sediment accumu...
