Obesity is a global pandemic with serious consequences for public health, directly associatedwith vascular diseases, diabetes, dementia, osteoarthritis, increased mortality and functionaldisability. In older adults, the diagnosis and management of obesity require specific considerations that differ from approaches applied to younger populations. The relationship between agingand obesity is particularly complex and multifactorial, sharing common pathways associated with chronic disease and systemic inflammatory processes. Interventions should focus on the individual, carefully evaluating the impact on both functional and intrinsic capacities, while also considering the expected time to achieve therapeutic benefits. This case report highlights the dental rehabilitation of a patient with controlled diabetes mellitus, emphasizing the importance of oral health in overall well-being. The treatment involved periodontal therapy, fixed and removable prostheses, and precision attachments to restore aesthetics and masticatory function. Significant improvements in oral health, function, and quality of life were achieved, along with stabilization of periodontal health after five months of follow-up. The case underscores the role of proper masticatory function in preventing malnutrition, especially in diabetic patients, where poorly controlled oral health can exacerbate systemic conditions. An interdisciplinary approach is critical in addressing both functional and aesthetic needs, improving both oral and systemic health outcomes for diabetic patients.

The aim of the present study was to examine the relationship between students’ cognitive and self-regulatory strategies, academic engagement, and academic achievement in higher education, analyzing the mediating role of reading comprehension. Different tasks to assess the constructs were administered to 209 students (Mage = 21.71; SD = 4.36). The students' GPA was used as a measure of academic achievement. Significant associations were found between cognitive and self-regulation strategies, academic engagement, reading comprehension, and students' GPA. In addition, a positive association was found between cognitive and self-regulation strategies and academic engagement. In Mexico, a high percentage of young people experience symptoms of generalized anxiety, which are associated with difficulties in executive functions (EF). However, previous studies have shown inconsistent results, as they often rely solely on either objective or subjective measures. Therefore, this study focused on analyzing the relationship between generalized anxiety and EF using both a neuropsychological battery and a self-report questionnaire, in order to provide a more comprehensive understanding of cognitive functioning in adolescents. El estudio tuvo como objetivo “determinar la relación entre el dolor y la capacidad funcional en pacientes con lumbalgia atendidos en un centro de terapia física y rehabilitación en Cusco durante el año 2024”. Este trabajo se realizó bajo un diseño descriptivo correlacional de enfoque cuantitativo y corte transversal. El instrumento de evaluación fue “la escala visual analógica” (EVA) para medir la intensidad del dolor y el índice de Barthel para evaluar la capacidad funcional. La muestra fue de 45 pacientes con lumbalgia. Los resultados mostraron que el 45,2% de los pacientes presentaron dolor leve, el 34,2% moderado y el 20,5% severo. This study aimed to determine the impact of age on the fecal microbiota in the genetic nucleus of cattle, with a focus on microbial richness, composition, functional diversity, and correlations with blood parameters. Fecal and blood samples from 21 cattle were analyzed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Older cattle exhibited greater bacterial diversity and abundance, with significant changes in alpha diversity indices (p < 0.05). Objetivo: Determinar el nivel de capacidad funcional en pacientes adultos mayores de un centro de terapia física de Lima, periodo 2024.
