The cocoa bean and its by-products are widely consumed in the world, due to their mineral content, functional compounds and antioxidant capacity, which vary according to how its processed. Fresh dried cocoa beans (FDB), dry fermented beans (FB) and cocoa paste (CP) were investigated, 31 samples in each case. Phosphorus, sodium, calcium, magnesium, copper, iron, zinc, manganese, cadmium lead, total polyphenols, anthocyanins, antioxidant capacity (ABTS, DPPH) expressed in Trolox equivalents (TE) were determined. Principal component analysis (PCA) was used. The mineral analysis established that 12 samples influenced CP1 and CP2. There was more calcium in the M26 sample of FDB, with 3.14%; potassium in the FDB, in M13, with 2.44%. Zinc in the FDB, was found in greater quantity in M30, M22, M23 and M9; with 90.46 ± 0.19 ppm in M30. Twenty-five samples reached values ≤ 0.61 ± 0.01 ppm of c...

The preclinical stages of dementia include subtle neurocognitive changes that are not easily detected in standard clinical evaluations. Neuropsychological evaluation is important for the classification and prediction of deterioration in all the phases of dementia. Objective: Compare the neuropsychological performance in healthy older adults with subjective cognitive decline (SCD) and with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) using principal components analysis. Methods: We evaluated 94 older adults with a clinical protocol which included general measures of mental, emotional and functional state. The neuropsychological protocol included tasks of memory, executive function, attention, verbal fluency and visuoconstructional abilities. We used principal component analysis (PCA) to reduce variables´ dimensionality on neuropsychological evaluation. Results: 33(35%) participants had a normal cogni...

The literature shows multiple bibliometric studies on business models across various sectors; however, little attention has been paid to the systematic analysis of academic production in tourism entrepreneurship. The business model in these ventures is a complex process involving sustainable practices and exchanging knowledge and resources within the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Entrepreneurs in tourism often have limited management and organisational capabilities due to an insufficient understanding of the components of business models and their interrelationships in fostering innovation and sustainability. This paper aimed to analyse the lack of unified definitions regarding business models in tourism entrepreneurship and provide guidelines for developing new models and managing existing ones. Through an analysis of 71 articles published between 2000 and 2022, 14 key components were iden...

Intercultural communication is considered a progressively developing trend, both abroad and in modern Russia. The concept of Western research on this topic is interdisciplinary approaches this situation is conditioned by the need for a multilateral analysis of the processes taking place in this field. Attention is focused on studying the barriers to communication of representatives of many socio-cultural systems. The information reflects the experience of using Western methodology to analyze the problems of intercultural interaction. The main barriers that reduce the effectiveness of interactions are the differences in cognitive schemes that are relevant for representatives of certain cultures (in particular linguistic and non-verbal schemes, moments of public consciousness). The results of the study do not allow the dissemination of conclusions to an extremely broad social context. But ...

The article describes the psychometric analysis of the APGAR Scale developed by Smilkstein (1978), consisting of five Likert items with five alternatives, which evaluates the perception of family functioning (Gómez & Ponce, 2010). The scale was administered to 256 male students aged from 11 to 18 attending state school in Lima. Item-test correlation analysis provided evidence of highly significant relations (p<0.001) for each of the reagents, indicating that reagents evaluate indicators of the same construct. To assess the perception of family functioning, APGAR Scale has moderate internal consistency (Cronbach a = .788). Construct validity was established by factor analysis and a single factor was obtained through a principal component analysis and the orthogonal rotation (Varimax).

In the present study were evaluated the bioactive compounds and antioxidant activity and satisfaction degree of a drink made with purple corn and stevia. Were used HPLC, ABTS, ORAC, DPPH methods and was done comparison according to the hedonic scale. Results showed close phenolic compounds to 2 mg/mL, high in anthocyanins (50,84 mg/100 mL) and antioxidant activity with ABTS (TEAC 17,96 pmol/mL), ORAC (31,01 μmol TEAC/mL) and DPPH (GAE 0,706 mg/mL). The useful life assessment revealed a synergistic effect between the purple corn anthocyanins and the active components of stevia. The satisfaction degree revealed that the formulation was described between "really like " (19%) and "like slightly " (33%) according to the hedonic scale about attributes of color, smell, taste and overall acceptability.

The present study proposes a method of automatic detection of tuberculosis (TB) bacilli from digital images of Ziehl Neelsen sputum smear baciloscopy. The method is based on an algorithm that aims to automate the interpretation of optical microscopic images of sputum smears. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a specialist can not analyze and process more than 20 samples per day (in order to not affect the analysis sensitivity and commit errors in diagnosis). Therefore, an automated tool as the proposed here, is an important contribution to the current efforts to fight tuberculosis. The algorithm is based on geometric eccentricity of ellipses and improvement of RGB component tones. Correspondence functions adjusted to sample preparation conditions were applied in order to improve the RGB primary component tones of the image. This allows to obtain an adequate segmentation of...

One mechanism for estimating software quality is through the use of metrics, which are functions that evaluates certain characteristics of the product quality development. A software product can be evaluated from different points of view, and in that sense, the results of the evaluations are numeric vectors, which together describe the quality of the software. This research uses data from NASA's open access which undergo a process of reducing the dimensionality by principal component analysis (PCA), then applied three clustering techniques and evaluates the best grouping using Rand Index. Finally, the top clusters are tested with regression to find the metrics that are related to the error of the Software. The results suggest that groups consisting of software modules whose code source have a higher average of blank lines, show a higher density of error. This could be interpreted as an i...

The aim of this study was to characterize the morphology of the creole goat of the Volcanes de Colima physiographic sub-province, Mexico. Seventeen body measurements were taken from 371 goats older than two years and four racial indices and 17 functional indices were calculated. Data were analysed using Pearson correlation, principal component, and hierarchical cluster analysis. The rump angle, chest width and all measurements of the ears and udder showed the greatest variability. Also, the goats showed great morpho-structural harmony. Racial indices showed that goats are dolichocephalic, ellipometric, and have a convex rump, while functional indices indicated dual-purpose zootechnical aptitude. Four principal components explained 84.5% of the variation of body measurements. Rump angle, hearth girth, body length and ear l...

This article presents a procedure for the fragility assessment of structures in response to earthquake and tsunami loads using the accumulation of inelastic displacement as a measure of damage. The proposed methodology considers a non-linear static analysis (pushover) for the case of the earthquake and a non-linear static load for the case of the tsunami, taking as starting point the final state of the structure after the occurrence of an earthquake. However, since the impulse force is the critical component of the tsunami load, a simplified approximation in terms of the flood depth is used to estimate the total of the tsunami load. By combining the effect of earthquake and tsunami hazard, a function is obtained relating the spectral acceleration of the earthquake, the flood depth of the tsunami and the drift. Finally, a case study of timber houses located in the municipality of San Andr...

Intelligence is a construct of notable impact in our sociocultural context, related to a wide range of conceptual and operational definitions which originate positions that highlights cognitive and abstract elements and emotional and social skills, as well was perspectives that are focused on processes underlying the intelligent performance, such as in the case of executive functions (EFs), which are configured as cognitive processes that make it possible the self-regulation (Miyake & Friedman, 2012). Similarly, there are approaches that give intelligence a relevant and predictive role of school performance, an aspect strengthened by the psychometric perspective, where the concept of intelligence has been closely linked to learning. In this line, we also find the classical perspective of crystallized Intelligence of Cattell (1943), which refers to the knowledge acquired through educa...

Chocolate is a widely consumed product, due to the contribution of fats and antioxidant compounds; the addition of other components makes it possible to increase the content of polyunsaturated fatty acids, although they can affect its rheological properties. The influence of the partial addition of peanut paste and Sacha Inchi on the rheological and functional properties of dark chocolate was evaluated. Cocoa beans, peanuts, and Sacha Inchi were refined in order to obtain the cocoa paste (PC), peanut paste (PM), and Sacha Inchi paste (PSI). Then, mixtures between 0 to 20% of PM and PSI were formulated, and the rheological properties were evaluated at 30, 40, and 50 C; these were adjusted to mathematical models. Functional groups were identified by FTIR in ATR mode, and it was observed that the partial addition of PM and PSI did not show significant changes in the shear stress and apparen...
