Introduction: A common problem during medical training in surgical areas like plastic surgery, is the absence of proper methods to obtain the necessary surgical skills to address the different pathologies related to this field. The medical training is performed in educational hospitals in Lima, however the methods are limited to the observation or assistance and don't let to the doctor obtain adequate competences to repair surgically this pathology once they finish their training. This article aimed to understand the development of the competency-based approach for life in society within an educational institution. The methodology used was qualitative, basic research type; given the adopted approach, a phenomenological design and inductive method were employed. The sample consisted of six teachers, and data collection techniques included interviews and documentary analysis. The results showed that the competency-based approach allows students to develop practical skills and competencies for the workforce, in addition to theoretical knowledge. The need to train teachers according to current challenges was emphasized. The purpose of this research was to determine if the levels of teaching performance allow measuring the institutional profile based on a competency approach, as well as knowing its attributes and at what level teachers apply it: theoretically or practically. For this purpose, quantitative, cross-sectional, and correlational research was carried based on the application of two Likert-type questionnaires, obtaining these results: identification of attributes of the institutional teaching profile: mediator, planner, cultural agent, and promoter. It is proposed a competence of educational methodology starting from the subject "Thermodynamic Laws" of the syllabus of the Physics II course which is taught to the students of the Faculty of Chemical and Textile Engineering of the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (UNI). This competence approaches the development of the training project "Implementation of culture in thermodynamics", which allows the students of the Faculty to interpret and search solutions to a current problem, such as the environmental pollution generated by the car park in Lima. Objetive: To identify the need to implement Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) courses in the undergraduate curricula of Peruvian universities. The estudy: Descriptive observational study. The prevalence of teaching the EBM course in the medical schools of Peruvian universities was evaluated, as well as the semester in which it was taught and its obligatoriness. Findings: Of 44 medical schools evaluated, eight (18.2%) included an EBM course in their curricula, of which five(62.5%) corresponded to private universities and in seven(87,5%) the course was mandatory. Conclusions: The teaching of EBM in Peruvian university medical schools is low, potentially leading to less confidence and certainty in clinical decision making.

The objective of the research was to improve in a participatory way the teaching competencies in education for sustainable development (ESD) in an educational institution in Ecuador. The study was conducted based on the Rounder Sense of Purpose competency framework (Vare, 2018). Under the qualitative approach and under action research, we worked with eleven participants, with whom interviews and focus groups were conducted. As a consequence, in the diagnostic phase, the management, competencies and teaching practices in ESD were analyzed. From there, eight competencies were selected for the implementation of a training program. The program was executed and finally the evaluation was carried out, reflecting on the entire process.
