Objective: To evaluate the relationship between uremic index (UI) and renal function measured by creatinine clearance (CrCl) in persons with normal renal function and in those with chronic renal failure (CRF), as well as to compare the renal function extrapolated from serum creatinine and that calculated with equations internationally recommended. Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted including patients attended in outpatient clinics at Hospital Cayetano Heredia in Lima from June 2018 to June 2019. Pearson’s correlation between UI and CrCl was calculated; comparison of means of UI, serum creatinine and standard equations was done by ANOVA and eta square. Results: the overall UI was 4.37 ± 4.99 mg/dl and correlated linearly with CrCl (r=-0.74, p=0.000). The study of executive functions is a subject that arouses the interest of researchers in neuropsychology and neuroscience. In particular, the evolutionary aspects of these neuropsychological functions, in an effort to be able to identify the way in which these functions appear in the child and how they take shape in adolescence, is a topic under exploration. The present investigation sought to determine if there were differences in the evolution of executive functions in children differentiated in age groups: 6-7 years, 8-9 years, 10-12 years. Materials and methods: It´s a cross- sectional analytical investigation conducted in 350 health establishments with essential obstetric-neonatal functions I-II (FONE I-II) database based on national surveys conducted by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) during 2015. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a widely used material in container manufacturing, particularly in bottle production. It is characterized by its low cost and widespread availability. However, its improper disposal has significantly exacerbated global plastic pollution. For instance, less than 50% of plastic bottles are recycled. Moreover, studies indicate that this issue has led to a significant accumulation of plastic waste in the oceans, which continues to grow annually and could be considered floating islands of debris. This study proposes replacing PET with polylactic acid (PLA), a biodegradable and biocompatible polymer with suitable properties for bottle production. This research aimed to compare the internalizing (anxiety and depression) and externalizing (hyperactivity) symptoms of Caraquenian children based on the level of food insecurity reported by their parents. A simple retrospective design was proposed with a sample of 200 children, aged between eight and twelve, and their representatives, in charge of reporting the food insecurity levels in their homes and the symptoms of perceived hyperactivity in their children. For the analysis of results, the non-parametric Mann-Whitney´s U technique was used to compare anxiety, depressive and hyperactive symptoms based on high and low levels of food insecurity. Recent studies report a high prevalence of psychotic and substance use disorders sharing common brain mechanisms that may affect cognitive performance, response to treatment, the ability to commit to it and, consequently, increase the risk of relapse. Objective: To compare cognitive performance in patients with alcoholism and schizophrenia. Material and Methods: Observational study designed to evaluated 18 patients with schizophrenia and 32 with mental disorders due to alcohol consumption. The objective of this work was to compare different approaches that allow a better characterization of the environmental quality using benthic macroinvertebrates as indicators in rivers of the southwestern highlands. The study was developed with data from the hydrobiology monitoring of the Quellaveco Project between the years 2013-2015, with which we obtained quality indices (ABI, EPT, IMEERA and SVAP), community structure indices (Shannon, Simpson, N1 of the Hill and Pielou series) and functional diversity indices (richness, diversity, dissimilarity and functional equity, and Rao’s Q). Benign prostatic hypertrophy is a more frequent, complex and progressive urological disease of men, which presents with symptoms of the lower urinary tract and which compromises the quality of life of the patient, producing sexual dysfunction in its different domains. OBJETIVE: Determine if there is difference in erectile function in men with BPH diagnosis before and after treatment with tamsulosin. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We analyzed 57 patients with benign prostatic hypertrophy between 45 and 70 years. They were assessed using the IPSS and IIEF-5 questionnaires at the beginning of the study and after 3 months of receiving treatment with tamsulosin. Se implemento una programación para el evaporador, para el sistema no ideal de arrastre de vapor de aceite esencial de naranja y para su simulación se utilizó un programa en TIA Portal utilizando también Microsoft Excel como fuente de entrada de datos. El control del sistema se realizó a la temperatura de proceso en respuesta al flujo de vapor inyectado para producir arrastre, que es la fuente de calor requerida para que ocurra este fenómeno. El arrastre de vapor aplicado para la recuperación de AEN es una operación unitaria por lotes y se utiliza el método de Euler para derivar el sistema de ecuaciones diferenciales.
