This paper analyzes, from the views expressed by teachers in activity, the motivations that led and lead them to uphold the performance of the teaching task. This problem is systematically surveyed in the framework of the project Observatory of the conceptions of teachers and future teachers about the school, teacher training and students (Irice/Conicet, OIE/Unesco). The comprehension of the senses and meanings that guide the choice of teaching implied, by the subjects questioned, a reflection on the constitutive aspects of the teaching role and a travel through the spaces of confluence of processes and representations. This study allowed us to recognize the prevailing needs in such choice of career, as well as the understanding of its significance and the values that guide it.

COVID-19 radically changed the reality of people around the world, having an impact on various spheres and aspects of life. The tourism sector is one of the most affected economic sectors, largely due to its nature of service, and because of its essence defined in the requirement to transfer the client to the place of leisure services. This caused repercussions on income and sources of work in all tourist destinations, especially in those in which tourist activity represents a substantial part of their economic activity. Faced with the impact of a phenomenon such as the one described, in management terms, the concept of resilience takes center stage, defined as the capacity of systems to face crises and destabilizing phenomena, to be able to adapt and evolve. This evolutionary meaning is key in relation to the concept of sustainability. Resilience is not only adapting and surviving, but ...

This article analyzes the National Penitentiary Policy Master Plan and the Strategic Plan of the Federal Penitentiary Service 2016/2020, and their merits and shortcomings in the Argentine prison context. My Artesanal Laboratory is a project funded by the Explora Program of the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT) ―currently Public Science― in its line of Valuing Science and Technology; executed by the Artesanals Program of the School of Design of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Its objective was to develop a multipurpose kit that allows children between 6 and 10 years old and their families, through observation, questions and experimentation, to learn about traditional artisanal expressions from indigenous peoples present in the national territory, identifying them as technological solutions that respond to scientific principles applied empirically by human beings since ancient times. This is an interdisciplinary project that is articulated through design, and in which traditional oral knowledge and artesanal artifacts are positioned as...

From a sample of 1K type-2 diabetes cases, using Monte Carlo simulation and real data, we have estimated that a 2.5% might be potential candidates in being in the highest levels of progress of type-2 diabetes as manifested in nephropathy or necrosis, In addition, a 1 % of the sample might be highly sensitive to cardiovascular attack. The pattern of the sample is characterized by having low incomes per month, poor education to improve lifestyle, as well as the lack of contact with health specialist, among others. The results of this simulation might serve to reconfigure ongoing schemes of public health aiming to reduce diabetes complications and extend minimally the lifetime of those type-2 diabetes patients belonging to vulnerable groups.

Mind maps are usually employed by teachers from all the educational levels as powerful learning strategies. This use enables important pedagogic achievements, but they do not exceed their maximum level, due to the dogmatic use of Tony Buzan's mind map (1996). Situation that would be different if it were entirely internalized, understand and applied. Precisely for that reason, the triarchic theory of intelligence developed by Rober Sternberg (1985) allows students to make decisions in several difficult situations with the suitable use of techniques and orientations in the development of the same intelligence. The research was developed by means of the case study from the qualitative focus, in which through the analysis of the evidences found and the use of an instrument that measured the successful intelligence, its development could be confirmed. However, the empiric analysis was not eno...

Communication research in Colombia is already considered a consolidated field in the national context, but it is not in its international projection. International databases, in particular the Web of Science have become a widespread form of legitimation of knowledge in science at the Global Academy, but Colombian research on communication in these databases has hardly been studied. This article investigated how is the production and circulation of knowledge in one of the most widely used database, Web of Science. The results show that the research of authors linked to the Colombian academy went from a very low figure in the nineties, to a significant growth in 2008 and exponentially in 2015. The creation of the Emerging Source Citation Index database contributed greatly to this change. Implications for the production and appropriation of communication knowledge in Colombia are derived fr...

n this article, the novel Canto de sirena by peruvian writer Gregorio Martínez (1942-2017) is analyzed based on the aesthetics that nurtured postboom writers. Our purpose is to observe the use of certain assumptions, principles and strategies that were generated for the new novelist in response to the aesthetics of the “boom” and the project of the total novel that became his novelistic ideal. We use the theoretical framework and the ideas put forward by Ángel Rama (1981) and Antonio Skármeta (1984) around the new generation of Latin American narrators.
