La monografía se desarrolla de la siguiente manera: antecedentes sobre la revolución cubana; el contexto económico y social de la revolución cubana; el contexto político de la revolución cubana; y el contexto cultural. Adicionalmente, se consideran la presente introducción, la síntesis, la apreciación crítica, sugerencias y referencias. Esperando haber cumplido el objetivo propuesto, dejamos el trabajo a la valoración de los miembros del jurado evaluador, quienes puedan ponderar y recomendar de las pautas adecuadas para optimizar el trabajo realizado.

Teniendo como eje la presencia de Juan Bosch en el Perú del 14 al 24 de marzo de 1962, en el contexto de laselecciones presidenciales de ese año, en el texto se desarrollan consideraciones sobre la participación de los escritores en las contiendas electorales. El motivo central del artículo es la participación del escritor y político dominicano en las actividades de Víctor Raúl Haya de la Torre en su carrera hacia la presidencia, para lo cual se contextualiza la coyuntura política a nivel latinoamericano y del país. En este artículo el autor introduce y describe las potencialidades de la «teoría del entanglement» en la arqueología. Este artículo debe ser entendido como parte de una propuesta académica e intelectual más amplia del autor, en la que propone un cambio radical a la forma en la cual los arqueólogos analizamos las relaciones entre los humanos y las cosas. In February 2019, Peru and the Russian Federation celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations at Embassy lev-el. However, the first diplomatic contact between the two countries dates back to 1863, with Peru being one of the first states in the region to es-tablish a relationship with the then Russian Empire. Once the Soviet Union was established in 1917, interaction with Latin America was generally scarce for several reasons: geographical distance (and proximity to the hemispheric hegemon, the United States), the fer-vent anti-communist stance of the elites in the region and, in the eyes of the CPSU, the supposed low revolutionary potential of Latin America. El Instituto de Estudios Internacionales (IDEI) de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, cuenta con una serie de publicaciones sobre política exterior peruana en la que se han venido estudiando las relaciones diplomáticas entre el Perú y sus principales socios de América, Europa y Asia. Con ello no solo se ha cubierto el vacío que existía en la bibliografía nacional sobre la materia sino que además se ha buscado contribuir con la política exterior del Perú, contribuyendo con estudios e ideas que puedan ser utilizadas por los operadores estatales. De igual forma, estos textos pretenden aportar conocimiento para favorecer el debate y nuevas investigaciones sobre esta área, tan importante para el mundo académico como para el desarrollo de nuestro país.

No es éste un libro de introducción a la antropología, puesto que no se propone establecer puntos de partida, ni base teórica o metodológica alguna sobre las que puedan sustentarse maneras de comprensión o de análisis que tengan que seguirse posteriormente. Es simplemente un manual, un texto de información general y sucinta sobre los aspectos de la naturaleza humana y de la vida social que constituyen la preocupación fundamental de la antropología. Está dirigido a los lectores no especializados, principalmente a los estudiantes universitarios, con el propósito de ofrecerles algunos conceptos que les ayude a adentrarse en la problemática de los fenómenos sociales y culturales, en sus manifestaciones, procesos, sistemas, regularidades y presupuestos más generales.

Open Veins of Latin America, by Uruguayan writer Eduardo Galeano, one of the most emblematic books of social thought in Latin America during the second half of the 20th century, was first published in 1971. Before it went into print, Galeano submitted his manuscript that same year to the Casa de las Américas Prize contest in the essay category, but came short of winning. Using as a point of departure the anecdotal fact that a book that would eventually become a classic did not receive the Casa de las Américas Prize, this article reconstructs Cuba’s complex political and cultural environment between 1968 and 1971; the tensions around literary contests promoted by the most important institutions of the Revolution; and, more generally, the debate around the role of Latin American intellectuals in the process of political and social transformation in the 1960s.

Motivated by an evolutionary look to understand the origins and circumstances of the practice of physical violence, this study analyzes quantitative data on head injuries in adult individuals, male and female, from pre-colonial Andean populations and discusses its results from the perspective of Evolutionary Psychology, particularly, to explain violent behaviour among males. The results point to a higher prevalence of males in the practice of violence and reveal aspects of the phenomenon that can be studied in the future, such as the differential circumstances of the occurrence of trauma related to gender in past populations.
